Blockchain: Probably Fair!
^ Why some gambling operators are exploring Blockchain & Provably Fair Technology
Unmatched Transparency for Players
Blockchain’s immutable ledger records every iGaming transaction and game outcome, enabling independent verification and fostering trust. Provably fair algorithms, using cryptographic hashing, allow players to confirm results, dispelling concerns about operator manipulation. This transparency is transformative, appealing to discerning players and enhancing platform credibility. As trust becomes a differentiator in the competitive gambling sector, operators adopting these systems gain a significant edge. By setting a new benchmark for integrity, blockchain and provably fair mechanisms address longstanding scepticism, positioning them as indispensable for iGaming’s evolution and establishing a foundation for sustained industry growth and player confidence.

Enhanced Security: Fraud Prevention
Blockchain’s decentralised architecture fortifies iGaming platforms against cyber threats, protecting player funds and sensitive data. Provably fair systems employ cryptographic techniques to ensure game outcomes are tamperproof, mitigating risks of fraud. Robust security protocols, including encryption and secure hashing, reassure players and bolster operator reliability. As data breaches undermine consumer confidence, these technologies offer a compelling solution. By reducing vulnerabilities, blockchain enhances platform resilience, driving adoption across the gambling sector. This security paradigm not only safeguards financial transactions but also positions operators to meet rising player expectations, cementing blockchain as a cornerstone of iGaming’s secure, futureready infrastructure.
There will always be concerns about rigged games. Provably Fair technology however, as seen in SPRIBE’s Aviator crash game, uses cryptographic algorithms to guarantee fairness, letting players check results via server and client seeds. David Natroshvili, SPRIBE’s CEO, has championed this innovation, with Aviator’s 42 million monthly users and 400,000 bets per minute showcasing its success Here’s how it works: the game generates a server seed (a 16-symbol random string) before each round, which is hashed and publicly accessible via the ‘Provably Fair Settings’ menu. Players contribute client seeds, typically from the first three bettors, which are combined with the server seed to produce a SHA512 hash determining the round’s result. This process prevents manipulation, as neither the operator nor players can predict or alter outcomes.
Player Empowerment: Redefining Trust and Control
Provably fair systems empower players by providing tools to verify game fairness in real-time, shifting control from operators. Blockchain facilitates direct, transparent payouts via smart contracts, bypassing intermediaries and ensuring swift, reliable transactions. This autonomy resonates with tech-savvy younger demographics, fostering loyalty in a crowded market. By prioritising player agency, these technologies redefine the gambling experience, aligning with demands for accountability. Operators embracing this model can differentiate themselves, attracting discerning users. As player expectations evolve, blockchain and provably fair systems are poised to become the industry standard, driving engagement and redefining trust in iGaming’s competitive landscape. Furthermore, players gain unprecedented visibility into game mechanics, demystifying outcomes and enhancing confidence. Smart contracts automate payouts, reducing disputes and operational friction. This transparency cultivates a sense of ownership, appealing to millennials and Gen Z, who value authenticity. By embedding player-centric innovation, blockchain not only strengthens retention but also positions operators to lead in an era where trust is paramount, ensuring iGaming’s evolution aligns with modern consumer values.

Globally Accessibility:
Breaking Down Barriers - But With Rules Built In?
Blockchain enables borderless iGaming transactions, allowing platforms to reach players globally without currency or banking barriers. Provably fair systems ensure universal fairness, fostering trust across jurisdictions. This accessibility expands market reach, particularly in underserved regions, while responsible gambling tools, like deposit limits and self-exclusion, ensure player protection. By removing financial barriers, blockchain drives adoption among operators prioritising ethical growth. As gambling markets globalise, these technologies balance scalability with regulatory and social responsibilities. Blockchain and provably fair systems reshape iGaming’s global footprint by attracting diverse audiences while upholding fairness and safety. Decentralised platforms enable instant, secure transactions, empowering players in emerging markets with limited banking access. Provably fair mechanics reinforce integrity, building confidence across cultures. Integrated responsible gambling features, such as real-time spending alerts and mandatory cooling-off periods, safeguard vulnerable players.
5 Regulatory Compliance: Navigating a Complex Local Compliance Landscape
Blockchain’s transparent, auditable records streamline compliance with stringent gambling regulations, simplifying oversight for licensing authorities. Provably fair systems provide verifiable proof of fairness, aligning with frameworks like the UK’s Gambling Commission standards. This reduces legal risks and enhances operator legitimacy, fostering player trust. As regulators tighten scrutiny, these technologies offer a robust solution to navigate complex compliance landscapes. By embedding accountability into operations, blockchain ensures platforms remain agile and resilient. The synergy of transparency and fairness positions these systems as vital for iGaming’s future, enabling operators to meet evolving regulatory demands while maintaining competitive advantage in a dynamic market.
Fuel For Retention
Beyond the Spin: How IGT's Engagement Platform Turns Content into Conversions
If operators see IGT PlayDigital’s content roadmap and think that’s where the excitement ends, then they’re wrong. Launched as part of a broader strategy to deliver personalised experiences, IGT PlayDigital’s Engagement Platform enables casino partners to layer bespoke promotions and campaigns directly onto IGT’s best-performing titles, driving deeper player engagement and markedly improved ROI.
Mega Vault unveiled late last month, in collaboration with leading US operators, epitomises this approach. By allowing fully branded, game-agnostic promotions across any participating IGT slot, Mega Vault transforms every spin into an opportunity for surprise and delight. “While everyone is talking about simple jackpots that we released into the market as part of the Engagement Platform a few years ago already, we’ve now moved ten steps ahead with our data-driven approach. It’s about personalised user entertainment and rewards to engage at the right time with the right offer” says Andrew Bonnici, Vice President of Platform and Analytics at IGT PlayDigital. “Mega Vault lets operators energise their entire portfolio without compromising margins or platform flexibility.”
Running in tandem is the ongoing Prize Engine promotion with Hard Rock. This “mystery prize” model uses timed objectives and immersive front-end animations to

resemble the slick UX of top-tier mobile apps. Players seek out rewards—free rounds, cash, unique giveaways—while operators see extended session lengths and rising cross-sell rates. Yet none of these tools work in isolation. Every feature on the Engagement Platform—from Leaderboards that foster friendly competition, to Missions which turn routine tasks into goal-oriented journeys, to Promotional Free Rounds offering a low-cost means of trial—integrates seamlessly via a single API. Operators customise reward tables, UX, branding and pacing to suit market needs, creating an ecosystem where content, tech and promotion are one coherent whole.
“We are giving the full set of colors, if jackpots are the black and white option, our engagement platform gives you the 4K experience and beyond, this is the canvas to create your players journey for your brand. This isn’t about one standout product or lucky title,” emphasises Gil Rotem, President of IGT PlayDigital. “It’s the totality of our engagement tool kit—combined with our portfolio of top-performing games—that gives us an undeniable advantage.” Competitors may tout “jackpot tools,” but few can match IGT’s decade-ahead sophistication in orchestration and data-driven personalisation.
Operators using the full Engagement Platform suite are reporting stronger player retention, deeper session engagement, and more cross-sell opportunities across verticals. With tools that integrate directly into gameplay—rather than sitting on top of it—IGT PlayDigital delivers a cohesive experience that converts entertainment into measurable performance. The results aren’t hypothetical; they’re already shaping how partners plan, promote, and personalise the player journey.
Whether deploying Mega Vault to rekindle lapsed players or Prize Engine to capitalise on seasonal spikes, operators can execute campaigns in days, not weeks. With customisation at its core, the Platform dovetails with regional and demographic nuances like VIP-only prize drops in mature markets to mass-appeal daily missions in emerging territories. In a landscape of shrinking attention spans, that level of agility and personalisation is the linchpin of long-term operator success.

+ Exclusively pictured are the epic main characters from IGT's new summer blockbuster, the omnichannel release, Eternal Link Warrior's Empire
Building on Omnichannel Classics
'Eternal Link Warrior’s Empire', (pictured above), doesn’t shout for attention—it earns it. As the next upcoming instalment in IGT’s established Eternal Link franchise, this high-profile title showcases the company’s vision for omnichannel content: one experience, across every touchpoint, grounded in spectacle and engineered for performance.
The game will introduce a striking fantasy world, led by a heroic male warrior and his fiery golden dragon companion—figures set against a stylised East Asian backdrop rich in colour and detail. With flowing banners, intricate armour, and blazing visual effects, Warrior’s Empire leans confidently into epic storytelling, broadening the franchise’s creative ambition without straying from its mechanical roots.
“Omnichannel is not a buzzword—it’s our baseline,” says IGT PlayDigital's Head of Content Brett Jackson. “With Warrior’s Empire, we deliver the same rich experience whether you’re at a Las Vegas kiosk, on your phone in Connecticut, or at home on desktop in London.”
At its core, the title retains the much-loved Link mechanic—a hold-and-respin feature that has consistently driven engagement and retention in both land-based and digital markets. Here, it’s been retooled for heightened intensity: quicker entry into bonus rounds, layered win potential, and a pacing model designed to reward longer sessions.
But while the gameplay is sharp, Warrior’s Empire doesn’t stand alone. Like all games in IGT's portfolio, it's built to operate in tandem with IGT’s Engagement Platform -
allowing operators to embed it in multi-touchpoint promotional strategies. Leaderboards turn core spins into competitive moments. Missions guide players toward defined achievements. Prize Engine and Mega Vault campaigns add layers of suspense and surprise. “The market doesn’t need another standalone jackpot offering,” added Rotem. “It needs a unified system—exceptional content, personalised engagement, and robust analytics.”
That system is the differentiator. While competitors are rushing to develop player retention tools, IGT’s approach is already fully realised—an ecosystem where content and campaigns are designed to function as one. Warrior’s Empire, as a flagship release, exemplifies that convergence.
IGT's Continuous Ecosystem of Play
This launch also speaks to something broader: IGT’s philosophy that success isn’t driven by content alone, but by a perfectly choreographed combination of factors. “We’re not number one just because of the games,” says Rotem.“It’s the combination— industry-leading content, a flexible engagement platform, bespoke promotions, and our aggregation capability—that reinforces our global position."
More Personalised Player Interaction
That synergy is what differentiates Eternal Link Warrior’s Empire from other branded slot launches. Many competitors now enter the market touting jackpot overlays or bonus frameworks as innovation. IGT’s response is clear: the company isn’t catching up to that conversation—it’s already operating light years ahead.
The Engagement Platform, which supports Eternal Link Warrior’s Empire, provides a dynamic framework that personalises player interaction by integrating multiple content layers. It goes beyond traditional spin mechanics and bonus triggers by delivering, contextualising, and adjusting features in real time based on individual player behaviour and preferences. This adaptive system enables continuous optimisation of player engagement and session value through data-driven insights.
“A successful game initiates a player journey rather than being a standalone event," explains Rotem. "When we release a new hit game like Eternal Link Warrior’s Empire, we build on the experience with customised, data-driven promotions that influence and enhance our customers’ retention strategies. It’s a smooth, end-toend process built to drive results.”
Simultaneously with each new game launch, IGT is also constantly improving its engagement technology. “Key components—including missions, prize drops, leaderboards, and flexible reward structures—are systematically designed to enhance player retention, encourage specific gameplay behaviours, and dynamically respond to the preferences of diverse player segments,” Rotem added.

IGT, The Home of True
Omnichannel

Co-Ordinated Land, Online Launch For IGT Slot Titles
For decades, IGT has been a leader in land-based gaming. Since the launch of IGT PlayDigital in 2015, that legacy has extended online, establishing the company as a leading omnichannel supplier in the global iGaming market. With a vast portfolio of omnichannel classics such as Wheel of Fortune and Cleopatra, IGT is now set to elevate its leadership this year with the simultaneous land-based and online launches of Eternal Link Warrior's Empire Kitty Glitter Grand. These coordinated releases underscore IGT’s unmatched ability to deliver unified player experiences across platforms, solidifying its position as the home of true omnichannel gaming. Following the success Mystery of the Lamp, which captivated players with its cross-channel accessibility, IGT PlayDigital continues to push the boundaries of what iGaming can achieve. The popularity of Prosperity Link in 2024 confirmed IGT’s omnichannel strength. Available on casino floors and online, the title’s vibrant visuals and synchronised gameplay boosted cross-channel engagement, according to operator data. Its consistent experience—whether on a slot cabinet or smartphone—demonstrated IGT’s skill in tailoring games for multiple environments. Now, the much-anticipated Kitty Glitter Grand and Eternal Link Warrior's Empire aim to strengthen this legacy, launching concurrently to capture players across all touch points. VP of Product at IGT PlayDigital Matt Ward underscores the significance of these releases. “No other supplier does omnichannel like we do at IGT, and taking the next step to launch games simultaneously is a huge testament to the collaboration of our land-based and online studios,” Ward explains. Kitty Glitter Grand is a modern rework of a popular classic, aiming to bring nostalgic charm on and offline. The online version retains the beloved free spins round from the original, while adding upgrades like random wilds and a Wheel Bonus—with a chance to land as a Super Wheel for even bigger rewards. Eternal Link Warrior’s Empire immerses players in epic battles with linked bonuses driving massive win potential. According to Head of Content Brett Jackson: “We convert land-based games; recreate them, tweaking bet settings and mechanics to preserve the essence while optimising for online play. We’re now invited to land-based player focus groups and ideation sessions which help us collaborate more closely. Recently, in Vegas, my team and I helped shape game roadmaps for both land and online. This early involvement lets us pick games already land hits and now poised for online success.”
' IGT runs the game across both channels with unmatched flair and consistency '

Progressive Jackpot Power, Tailored for Players Globally
IGT’s omnichannel leadership extends to its pioneering progressive jackpot systems. Since 2016, IGT has offered shared-pool progressives such as Money Mania, across land and online in Canada, making over 60 millionaires in the process. “We offered the first jackpot in the world to combine land and online play together,” Matt Ward says. “No one else has sustained this model with the scale and reliability we have. Our infrastructure consistently delivers meaningful wins, and we've taken the step of integrating online blackjack into these pooled systems – a first in the industry.” In 2023, Wheel of Fortune Triple Gold™ Gold Spin™ became the first US omnichannel wide-area progressive, pooling liquidity to create life-changing jackpots. Ward hints at future innovations: “In coordination with the land team, we’ve built a multi-year roadmap that expands progressive offerings in ways that speak directly to player needs. At IGT PlayDigital, we’re continuing to elevate this content by layering on our engagement tools and promotions that create an overall more entertaining experience for players”. With an incredible selection of games, jackpots, and tournaments, PlayDigital enables operators to deliver unified experiences across devices and demographics. IGT operates in over 100 countries, ensuring compliance while pushing boundaries. Its partnerships with top-tier operators across the world demonstrate its global impact and support a wide range of tailored solutions. This collaborative, insight-led approach continues to drive measurable results globally, across multiple verticals and regulatory environments. Data informs IGT’s creative process, balanced with artistry. President of IGT PlayDigital Gil Rotem tells us more: “The way we use data is evolving. It’s not just performance tracking—it’s predictive,” Rotem notes. “We’re building frameworks that anticipate player behaviour in new markets before we even launch. That allows us to go live with content that already feels familiar to the audience.” But the value of data doesn’t end at development. IGT also harnesses real-time insights to activate engagement tools and deliver custom promotions that align with player preferences and operator goals. “Targeted initiatives in our engagement suite drive retention, boost loyalty, and support key commercial metrics. From launch to long-term performance, our data-driven approach ensures content not only lands well—but keeps players engaged at a higher level.” A standout example is the Prize Engine, a cutting-edge rewards system designed to captivate audiences and reward them in real time with marketing jackpots or prize drops.

Chasing Leprechaun Loot!
History of Slots: Gold Rush That Keeps on Spinning
THE history and fascination with Irish leprechaun and pot-ofgold-themed slot games in gambling taps into a deep cultural vein of Irish folklore, where luck, mischief, and hidden treasure reign supreme. The allure lies in the promise of fortune— embodied by the leprechaun, a mythical trickster guarding a pot of gold at the rainbow’s end—and the vibrant imagery of Ireland’s rolling green hills, shamrocks, and rainbows. Yet, a curious quirk persists in many of these games: the frequent substitution of the four-leaf clover for the shamrock, raising questions about cultural accuracy and whether game designers have stumbled into a botanical blunder, since it is the three leafed Shamrock that is the national symbol of Ireland. Early mechanical slots began featuring Irish symbols— often shamrocks or gold coins—but the leprechaun and pot-of-gold narrative solidified with video slots. Amaya’sStarsGroup, (now Flutter), Pot O’ Gold (late 1990s), a threereel classic, leaned into this with leprechauns and pots of gold, though it curiously included four-leaf clovers alongside shamrocks, blending two distinct symbols of luck. WMS Gaming’s Leprechaun’s Fortune (late 1990s) doubled down on this, pairing leprechauns with four-leaf clovers in a fairytale setting, perhaps prioritising universal luck over cultural precision—a choice some argue is an error by designers unfamiliar with Ireland’s botanical iconography. The 2000s amplified the trend as online slots began to flourish.
Botanical Blunders! Four Leaf Clover versus the Shamrock: A luck filled mix-up in Irish themed Gaming. A shamrock is a three-leaf clover, while a fourleaf clover is a variation of the plant. Both are associated with luck, but shamrock is the symbol of Ireland '
NetEnt’s Golden Shamrock (2011) nodded to tradition with its title but still featured four-leaf clovers in its free-spin mechanics, a subtle misstep amid its polished visuals. Microgaming’s Lucky Leprechaun (2015) leaned heavily on four-leaf imagery in its Trail O’ Fortune bonus, while Barcrest’s Rainbow Riches (2006) sidestepped the debate by focusing on rainbows and gold, though its sequels often tossed in four-leaf clovers for good measure. Red Tiger’s popular 'Rainbow Jackpots' (2017) kept the four-leaf motif going, while modern titles like Playtech’s 'Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect' (2022) and Blueprint Gaming’s 'Luck O’ The Irish Gold Spins' (2021), NetEnt's 'Irish Pot Luck', perpetuate the trend, weaving four-leaf clovers into advanced features like cash collects jackpots.

Player turns 20¢ spin into record $9million on 'Irish Pot Luck' - Marketing Asset for Consumers & B2B
A player in Michigan won a staggering $9.28 million (£7.3 million) jackpot while playing 'Irish Pot Luck' by NetEnt, (Evolution) on the DraftKings online casino platform — the largest online slot prize ever awarded in US history. The jackpot was hit in February with a stake of just $0.20, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, which oversees online gambling in the state. DraftKings confirmed that the prize was won on Irish Pot Luck, a slot known for its progressive jackpot feature, which grows with every qualifying spin across the network. “This $9 million jackpot win on a licensed online platform highlighted not only the popularity of iGaming in Michigan but also the secure and regulated environment we had in place,” said Henry Williams, executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board. From a consumer marketing perspective, the $9million win is a compelling statistic to draw in players. Irish-themed slots like 'Irish Pot Luck' or 'Luck 'O’ The Irish Fortune Spins' by Blueprint, (Merkur/Gauselmann Group) captivate audiences with their magical themes of leprechauns, shamrocks, and pots of gold, appealing to players’ sense of luck and fortune.
The progressive wins build trust and excitement. Players are more likely to engage with a game that has paid out millions, as it suggests a strong potential for rewards. Marketing teams can amplify this by offering promotions, such as free spins or deposit bonuses, to capitalise on the interest. Aligning campaigns with cultural events like St. Patrick’s Day, when Irish-themed slots often see a surge in popularity, can further boost engagement. Slogans like “Join the $9Million Winning Streak on St. Paddy’s!” can tap into the festive spirit, (hugely popular in big US cities), to drive player activity. The figure also encourages repeat play, as players are motivated by the game’s track record, ensuring sustained participation and revenue for operators. For Blueprint Gaming, 'Luck O’ The Irish Fortune Spins' attracts significant player activity, driving revenue through consistent engagement. Blueprint can leverage this data in pitches to operators, showing how the game’s payout history draws crowds and boosts retention, ultimately increasing operator profits. The cumulative wins highlight a studio's reliability within its jackpot network, encouraging operators to integrate more of their games.

The Anti-Trend Strategy

How Octoplay Wins By Ignoring What Everyone Else Does
Carl Ejlertsson, CEO & Founder, Octoplay
Growing up in Sweden, our father had a simple philosophy about work: do it, and do it early. By thirteen, I was hauling myself out of bed at dawn on weekends, delivering newspapers to half-asleep neighbours while dreaming of anything that wasn't school canteen food. I had learned something from those early morning paper routes: if you want more than what's in front of you, you work until you get it. I clawed my way into Betsson Group, then climbed five positions in three years to Casino Insight Lead. That's where everything changed. Nine months later, I joined Red Tiger during what can only be described as a controlled explosion of growth. For three years, we built relentlessly. Games, systems, entire operational frameworks. Then came the NetEnt acquisition at $275 million, followed by Evolution's $1.8 billion purchase. Somewhere in that whirlwind, I found myself with something rare in this industry: perspective. And with it came absolute clarity about what I'd witnessed. What worked. What didn't. What I'd do differently. At Octoplay, I think we're very focused. And having focus is saying 'No' to a lot of things and keeping the things you really believe in. We have always been very data-driven in our approach.
- Octoplay has compressed what should be a decade-long journey into just over two years -
We now track over 100 metrics, so we know exactly what the market needs. This obsession with metrics isn't just corporate speak. While competitors chase the latest trends, we have built success on a different philosophy entirely. Anyone can add more features. We work to remove everything that doesn't serve the player experience. So we have quickly established our position in the market by building products users were clearly asking for. Our mission from the start was to be licensed in every possible jurisdiction on the planet. If a licence is available, we will get it as soon as we can. We were able to secure six licenses in just over 2 years and two in North America. That's basically one every quarter. And how does a company maintain such aggressive expansion while ensuring quality? I think it comes down to deliberate choices. We think we've dialed in exactly what players want. And we have the focus as a company to execute on it. We don't chase trends. Just deliberate choices, and attention to detail where it matters.
CRO, Trustly
- Octoplay achieved 11x growth YoY and is on course to almost double quarter on quarter. But perhaps more telling is the company's systematic approach to market expansion -

Octoplay’s
GamblingIQ asks Carl Ejlertsson what drives such a level of focused execution at Octoplay? When pressed about his personal approach to leadership, he is straightforward:
“I'm not a technologist. I'm not a marketer. I'm not a people person in the traditional sense,” he admits. “I'm just focused. Most companies do too many things, spread themselves thin, and call it innovation. I just chose to get obsessive about fewer things, and make sure we nailed them.”
4 Million Jackpot Winners
But perhaps the most telling indicator of this focused approach is Jackpot Hunt, Octoplay's opt-in jackpot feature that has fundamentally reimagined how players interact with jackpot mechanics. With 70% overall opt-in rates reaching 80% in markets like Ontario, and over 4 million jackpot winners in under two years, the feature represents everything Ejlertsson advocates: saying no to unnecessary complexity and yes to what players actually want.
What does “progressive” actually mean in today's slot landscape? It's a question that reveals much about Octoplay's philosophy versus industry standard practice. “I think the term 'progressive' gets thrown around a lot in this indus-
try, sometimes just to dress up what's really just more of the same,” Ejlertsson observes. “ For us at Octoplay, being progressive means doing things that actually move the experience forward, not just from a tech perspective, but in how games feel, and how operators can build smarter ecosystems around them.” This perspective explains why major operators like PokerStars UK and BetMGM Ontario have sought out Octoplay for bespoke implementations. These partnerships demonstrate Octoplay's reliability as a partner and validate Jackpot Hunt's proven success metrics across different markets.
Games: A Living Organism
The company's rapid iteration cycle, releasing over five games monthly, creates what Ejlertsson describes as “a living organism rather than a traditional game catalog. Each release builds on insights from the previous ones, creating a feedback loop that consistently improves player engagement metrics.” And what's driving Octoplay's current momentum?
New: Break the Piggy Bank
“Right now? Break the Piggy Bank. It's the best game we've launched,” he says. “But that's how I feel every month. Each release outperforms the one before because of our data-driven approach.”
When asked about his favorite game, Ejlertsson is direct.
“ We analyse player behavior meticulously across different markets and use those insights to make our games and other platform features even better. ” This continuous improvement mindset has enabled Octoplay to complete an average of five integrations per month while building commercial relationships with over 80 operators. But for Ejlertsson, the metrics that matter most aren't just about growth, they're about building something that lasts.
As Octoplay sets its sights on further US expansion in 2025, that early lesson from Swedish paper routes seems more relevant than ever: “If you want more than what's in front of you, you work until you get it. The difference now is knowing exactly what you're working for.” In an industry often characterised by noise and distraction, Octoplay's quiet commitment to doing fewer things exceptionally well stands as a powerful reminder that sometimes, the most revolutionary approach is simply knowing

The Coliseum Bonus, activated by three scatters, awards up to 12 free spins with multipliers, extra wilds, or scatters, enhancing win potential. A progressive jackpot, randomly triggered, offers life-changing payouts, with higher bets boosting chances.

The Aviator
How SPRIBE'S David Natroshvili Redefined iGaming Innovation
MEET David Natroshvili, a Georgian visionary now residing in the gambling mecca of Monte Carlo, who has transformed the iGaming world as the CEO of Spribe. In 2019, he introduced Aviator, a groundbreaking crash game that redefined player engagement with its simple yet thrilling mechanics. Inspired by crypto casino trends, Natroshvili’s mobile-first, provably fair game—where players bet on a rising multiplier before a virtual plane crashes—captivated millions. Now with over 50 million monthly active players across 5,000+ online casinos, Aviator showcases his innovative spirit. Natroshvili, aptly dubbed “The Aviator,” has soared to new heights, revolutionising iGaming with social, multiplayer experiences. "SPRIBE was founded with a clear vision—to bring something entirely new to the igaming industry,” Natroshvili tells GamblingIQ. “In 2018, we saw that traditional casino games were stagnating, and there was a growing demand for social, skill-based experiences.” Today, SPRIBE’s ambitions extend beyond a single title: “We are shaping the future of igaming by continuously reinventing player engagement and pioneering new gaming categories.” Natroshvili’s path to iGaming prominence began in Georgia, where resilience was a formative lesson. His public sector career—from the Ministry of Economy to Deputy Minister of Agriculture—honed his understanding of systems and human dynamics. “I was born and raised in Georgia, a country that teaches resilience early,” he says. “I entered politics to create change, but over time, I realised that entrepreneurship offered a more direct, unfiltered way to make an impact."

CEO, SPRIBE
' I was born and raised in Georgia, a country that teaches resilience early on '
Founding SPRIBE in 2018 was a natural evolution, merging his passion for technology, strategy, and innovation with the ambition to build a globally competitive enterprise. “That decision changed everything,” he reflects. Scaling SPRIBE from a four-person team to 350 across multiple jurisdictions presented significant challenges, from recruitment to maintaining cultural cohesion. The most unexpected obstacle? Intellectual property disputes as Aviator achieved viral status. “The complexity of intellectual property disputes, especially as Aviator went viral, was a surprise,” Natroshvili notes. “It was a crash course in global legal navigation and taught me the value of protecting innovation early.” These experiences shaped SPRIBE’s disciplined yet agile approach: “Move fast, but always with structure.” What fuels SPRIBE’s meteoric rise? Natroshvili credits a blend of foresight, user-centric design, and exceptional talent. “If I had to choose, I think I'm a strategist who is obsessed with people. Our company's success story comes from identifying the right trends early, simplifying user experiences, fostering innovation, and hiring brilliant, autonomous people who want to drive excellence,” he says.

Aviator’s triumph was no accident: “Aviator didn’t happen by luck—we saw what others missed," Natroshvili tells GamblingIQ. His public sector experience provided a macro perspective, but success hinged on micro-decisions in marketing, technology, and culture. Here are 5 Lessons we picked up from the master innovator from Georgia:
1. Spot Trends Early: Natroshvili’s success with Aviator shows the value of identifying emerging trends, like crypto casino growth, and acting swiftly to create innovative, user-focused products that reshape industries;
2. Simplify User Experiences: Aviator’s simple yet thrilling mechanics demonstrate that streamlined, intuitive design can captivate millions, proving that complexity isn’t necessary to deliver engaging and impactful gaming experiences;
3. Build a Trust-Based Culture: SPRIBE’s culture of trust and experimentation, where teams are encouraged to “fail fast, but fail smart,” fosters innovation and resilience, driving sustained growth and creativity;
4. Protect Innovation Proactively: Natroshvili’s navigation of intellectual property disputes as Aviator went viral underscores the importance of safeguarding creative assets early to ensure long-term success in competitive markets;
5. Listen as a Leader: Natroshvili’s emphasis on listening, through informal employee interactions and reflective journaling, highlights that effective leadership balances guidance with openness, fostering collaboration and informed decision-making.

' Crash games are different as players control the game’s outcome '
“Leadership isn’t just guiding—it’s listening,” David Natroshvili tells us. This philosophy extends to his personal life, where discipline and curiosity drive his habits. An admirer of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) for its strategic depth, Natroshvili saw synergy in SPRIBE’s UFC partnership, while his passion for football underpinned a collaboration with AC Milan.
Natroshvili’s personal tastes reveal a man propelled by intensity and inspiration. He cites The Social Network as a favourite film: “Not just for its portrayal of innovation, but for its message that bold ideas and relentless execution can shape entire industries. That mindset echoes a lot of what we’ve done at SPRIBE.” Eminem’s Lose Yourself is his anthem: “It’s raw, driven, and a reminder that moments of opportunity are rare—you either seize them or miss them. That energy is perfect before a big pitch or event.” Coffee sustains him: “Black, strong, and often. When you’re leading a company like SPRIBE across multiple time zones and markets, it becomes more than a preference. It’s fuel.” His indulgences? “Late-night binge sessions of tech documentaries or crime thrillers. And yes, occasionally over-ordering Georgian pastries.”
SPRIBE’s impact on iGaming is profound, yet Natroshvili’s vision remains expansive. Aviator proved that social, skill-based experiences could thrive in a regulated environment. “Today, that vision has grown beyond a single game,” he says. Navigating a dynamic industry, he remains grounded by his roots and relentless in his pursuit of innovation. His journey—from Georgia’s public sector to Monte Carlo’s gaming epicentre—demonstrates the power of vision, strategy, execution and determination.
Unifying Digital & Physical Experiences
SPRIBE CEO David Natroshvili is pushing Gaming into uncharted territory with an ambitious omni-channel vision that blends web, mobile, and land-based experiences. Having revolutionised online gaming with Aviator’s mobile-first crash game, he is now developing solutions to deliver its signature simplicity and thrill across all platforms. “Aviator was built mobile-first—that’s why it scaled,” Natroshvili exclusively tells GamblingIQ. The next frontier? Progressive jackpots and crash games in physical casinos, a move set to redefine player engagement. SPRIBE’s new Broadway Platform is the backbone of this strategy, enabling real-time synchronisation across diverse systems. “The goal: unify the digital and physical without compromising simplicity,” Natroshvili tells us.
Crash Games in Casinos Lounges
Progressive jackpots, which amass bets amongst a community of players for colossal payouts, align perfectly with Aviator’s social, multiplayer appeal. Yet, challenges abound—regulatory complexities and technical demands require meticulous navigation. SPRIBE’s experience in scaling innovative products equips it to tackle these hurdles with precision, ensuring smooth integration without sacrificing user experience. Natroshvili sees crash games transforming land-based venues, particularly for younger players drawn to interactive formats. “We’re building for the future,” he says.

& Physical Gaming: David Natroshvili Envisions Seamless Gaming Across Digital & Land-Based Casinos as innovation again takes flight
The Perfect
Crash
Omni-Channel Crash Games & Progressive Jackpots
“Imagine an Aviator-style terminal in a casino lounge—social, multiplayer, with spectators and shared jackpots,” Natroshvili enthuses. These terminals would fuse Aviator’s dynamic multiplier mechanic with the communal buzz of a casino floor. Hardware constraints remain, but progress is swift. “Tech is catching up. We’re already in discussions around prototypes,” Natroshvili notes. He views this evolution as inevitable, predicting that crash games will reshape how new generations perceive physical gaming spaces.
This omni-channel ambition underscores Natroshvili’s strategic foresight and SPRIBE’s commitment to innovation. By marrying digital fluidity with the tangible allure of land-based venues, SPRIBE is crafting immersive, unified experiences. “It’s not just possible—it’s inevitable,” Natroshvili asserts. As prototypes advance and the Broadway Platform matures, SPRIBE is poised to lead iGaming’s next wave, proving that bold vision, paired with disciplined execution, can transcend traditional boundaries and set new gambling industry standards.
' It’s not just possible — it’s inevitable. And it’ll redefine how younger generations see land-based gaming '

David's Blueprint: Merging Sports, Entertainment, and Gaming. With far-reaching thought leadership, Natroshvili Charts a Future for Integrated, Immersive, & Player-Centric Ecosystems
HE has been driving iGaming and traditional gaming towards a genuinely vibrant convergence with sports and entertainment in recent years. His mission is to craft interconnected, immersive ecosystems that captivate players. SPRIBE’s partnerships with UFC, WWE, and globally renowned football club AC Milan transcend traditional marketing, serving as strategic conduits to unify player experiences. “Our partnerships with UFC, WWE, and AC Milan weren’t just marketing—they were strategic bridges,” Natroshvili says.
In the coming years, his company will be able to integrate real-time activations, such as triggering Aviator drops during live sporting events or launching QR-driven stadium campaigns tied to gameplay. These
initiatives reflect a shift in player expectations: “Players don’t want separate experiences—they want ecosystems,” he says. By embedding gaming within live entertainment, SPRIBE is crafting interactive touchpoints that resonate with fans and players alike. This approach leverages Aviator’s social, multiplayer appeal to create shared moments, whether in a stadium or online, redefining engagement in an increasingly connected world.
The challenge lies in synchronising real-time systems across platforms, and SPRIBE’s new Broadway platform is already enabling omni-channel solutions, providing a robust foundation for these innovations. Looking ahead, SPRIBE is investing heavily in the future of iGaming, with artificial intelligence and blockchain at the core of its strategy. “We’re deeply invested in personalisation through AI —from player behaviour modelling to dynamic game environments,” Natroshvili says. AI-driven insights will tailor experiences, adapting game mechanics to individual preferences while maintaining Aviator’s simple
concept. Meanwhile, Blockchain holds promise for ehancing provably fair games and enabling decentralised jackpots, ensuring transparency and trust. Yet, Natroshvili’s boldest ambition is to pioneer a new genre that blends social entertainment with gaming. “The next bold move? A new genre—something between social entertainment and gaming. Think interactive, creator-driven, multiplayer-first.”
This vision imagines platforms where players, creators, and communities of all types co-create experiences, merging the interactivity of streaming with the thrill of multiplayer gaming.
Such a genre would capitalise on SPRIBE’s expertise in social mechanics, pushing iGaming beyond traditional casino formats. Central to the strategy is a commitment to responsible gaming. “All of it underpinned by responsible gaming tools, because growth must be sustainable.” By integrating tools to promote healthy player habits, its innovations prioritise long-term engagement over short-term gains.
Finland's Fennica
Charts Global Course amid Gambling deregulation in 2027
Fennica Gaming, fully owned by Finnish National Lottery Veikkaus, is accelerating its international expansion strategy. Formed in 2022 to lead Veikkaus’s B2B real money gaming solutions and services, the company has grown into a distinct arm of the national operator, with a mandate to take Finnish-made content to regulated markets worldwide. Fennica’s team includes the creators of many of Finland’s most-played online casino games, and the studio holds the largest share of the domestic iGaming market. Although still fully owned by Veikkaus, (8 decades of successful lottery and gaming service in the country), Fennica Gaming is operating with increasing independence and has its own leadership, business structure, and commercial focus.
“Fennica was born to scale,” Jonas Reuter, Chairman of the Board, told GamblingIQ. “We’ve been market leaders in Finland for years, but international B2B was always the next chapter. With de-regulation on the horizon, now is the time to accelerate with our professional team of Fennicans.” Finland’s plan to open its gambling market by 2027—ending Veikkaus’s longstanding monopoly—is expected to trigger a wave of competition and licensing activity. While Veikkaus prepares to operate under the same commercial terms as foreign rivals, Fennica is using the reform as a springboard to take its portfolio to regulated markets abroad, (now in 15

regulated markets). Following its B2B license approvals in Sweden and Ontario, Canada, Fennica has just won other licences under the robust regulatory frameworks in Greece and UAE, allowing it to unleash popular titles like Northern Jack, Wobblybobs, and Chirp Amore to licensed operators.
“Northern Jack is a perfect example of how our game DNA translates and travels,” Reuter says. “It’s rooted in Nordic aesthetics but universally playable—and critically, it’s free from any legacy association with grey or black markets, something operators love to see.” In March 2025, the company also finalised the transfer of Veikkaus’s internal game studio and portfolio of almost 200 titles to its own control, bringing 50 developers with it. While content remains at the core of Fennica’s identity, the business is positioning itself as more than a traditional game developer.
It is rolling out B2B tools, platform integrations, and what it calls “entertainment-driven game frameworks”—concepts informed by Finland’s world-leading mobile gaming heritage. A cornerstone of this approach is the Game Family Network, which brings in third-party development studios—many of them having backgrounds with Finnish mobile hits like Angry Birds, (created by Rovio Entertainment, a game studio based in Espoo), to build content for Fennica Gaming. This approach, Reuter said, helps the company stay fast and imaginative while preserving its distinct identity: We’ve been building games with Nordic polish, tech and trustworthiness, but we are also able to customize and tailor our offering for the local preferences at each market.”, he says.
Fennica has also partnered with IGT to launch its Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) content in Sweden, where its titles now run on around 4,000 terminals. Across all verticals, the company places a strong emphasis on regulation and IP protection, holding over 100 trademarks and nearly 200 certifications across global markets. To help guide its international rollout, Fennica has enlisted Simon Hammon, former CEO of Relax Gaming and CPO of NetEnt, as a strategic advisor.
Hammon’s remit includes go-to-market planning, product alignment, and partnership development across Europe and North America. In the newly competitive Finnish market, Fennica believes its local insight and longstanding audience rapport will secure continued leadership, but international growth remains the top priority. Discussions are ongoing with multiple operators abroad, with several content
' We're here to show that Nordic creativity in content & tech - when paired with commercial focus - can deliver something that really stands out ' - Jonas Reuter, Fennica Chairman and EVP Veikkaus International

Simon Hammon, advisor to Fennica Gaming’s board, brings over 20 years of B2B gaming expertise. Formerly CEO of Relax Gaming and CPO at NetEnt, he drives Fennica’s global expansion, leveraging its Veikkaus Game Studio integration. His strategic vision enhances Fennica’s omnichannel offerings, including eInstants and casino games, positioning the company as a leading Games as a Service provider in regulated markets.

Chairman of Fennica Gaming’s Board of Directors, Jonas is a pivotal figure steering the company’s global ascent in the regulated gaming industry. With a robust background in gaming and lottery operations, Reuter’s leadership draws on extensive experience with Veikkaus, Finland’s state-owned betting agency, where he honed expertise in navigating the Finnish National Lottery’s stringent regulatory landscape. His strategic oversight has been instrumental in Fennica Gaming’s transformation from a domestic player to a global B2B powerhouse, particularly following Finland’s gambling market deregulation, set to dismantle Veikkaus’ betting and iCasino online monopoly by 2027. This shift to a competitive licensing model, as Reuter anticipates, positions Fennica to capitalise on new opportunities, leveraging its parent company’s decades of expertise in compliant game development.
Reuter’s vision has driven Fennica’s integration of Veikkaus Game Studio, announced in April 2025, bringing almost 200 game IPs and 50 creative professionals into the fold. This move, bolstered by advisor Simon Hammon’s industry insight, enhances Fennica’s ability to localise games for international markets, ensuring compliance with diverse regulations while delivering player-centric experiences. Reuter’s strategic foresight shines in Fennica’s expansion into markets like Ontario, Slovenia, Belgium, Virginia, where eInstant titles like Kulta-Jaska (Northern Jack in Finland, Chercheur d’Or in France, Gullfeber in Norway) thrive.
Secrets of a Games Studio Start-Up
Exclusive with Sovanna Phan, CEO & Founder, PlayJeux Studios, Canada
From a teenage croupier dealing blackjack under the Montreal Casino’s chandeliers, to one of the architects of Canada’s first regulated online casino, Sovanna Phan, the CEO and founder of Quebec’s PlayJeux Studios, is no stranger to high stakes. In fact, the native Montrealer has spent over two decades decoding what makes players tick. Now, with PlayJeux, he’s wagering that the future of gambling lies not in solitary spins but in social, multiplayer, interactive experiences that rival the thrill of video games. Bolstered by significant local funding and a strategic agreement with Light & Wonder PlayJeux - named GamblingIQ’s No. 1 ‘Rising Star’ Games Developer 2025 - is poised to disrupt the $500 billion global gaming market.
First Head of Online Casino at Loto-Québec
Sovanna Phan’s journey began in 1999, at 18, when he stepped onto the floor of the majestic Casino de Montréal as a dealer, captivated by the psychology of risk and the entertainment industry. “I was hooked on understanding players, what drives them to bet, to return, to chase the thrill,” he says. His curiosity quickly turned into expertise, and he soon advanced to become a table games operations and surveillance trainer specialist, gaining deep insight into both the player mindset and the inner workings of the casino floor. By 2010, his understanding of gaming and innovation led to a new chapter when he joined Loto-Québec’s online division. That same year, Loto-Québec and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation became the first two Canadian lotteries to launch regulated online gaming websites in North America—years ahead of the U.S. market. “We were pioneers,” he says, “building a regulated model in a market that didn’t exist yet.” The project gave Sovanna a rare perspective, straddling both land-based and digital operations.

CEO, PlayJeux
Unlike many peers who focused on just one area, he saw the broader arc of the industry’s evolution. Working closely with major suppliers like IGT and Light & Wonder, he studied their portfolios and probed for ways to push creative limits. “I’d ask, how can we go further? What about multiplayer slots or social table games?” he recalls. These conversations, while often constrained by legacy systems, laid the foundation for future ideas. In 2021, as Covid shut down casinos worldwide, Sovanna launched PlayJeux Studios with a bold vision: to reimagine iGaming as a social, community-powered experience, inspired by the rise of social casinos where players spend millions chasing excitement, not just cash prizes.
20 Local Investors - Only 1 Had Gambled
PlayJeux’s 2021 launch was a masterstroke of timing and strategy. Funding came from a group of local Montréal investors—only one of whom had ever set foot in a casino, let alone gambled online. “It was my first business pitch. You don’t really learn how to do that in school. I must have watched every online video on how to pitch and every episode of Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank just to prepare myself. It was very intimidating. I was presenting to over 20 investors and was bombarded with multiple questions. At the end, they were convinced by my pitch to challenge US and European iGaming supplier giants from our little province of Québec,” Sovanna recalls. The investment led to a pivotal opportunity: acquiring a strategic stake in Playzido, a UK-based iGaming supplier and distributor already live with several operators. Playzido took charge of distribution, allowing PlayJeux to focus fully on innovating multiplayer game content. Within a year, Playzido was acquired by Light & Wonder in May 2022 which helped
secure a global distribution agreement for PlayJeux’s multiplayer interactive games. More recently, Light & Wonder rebranded Playzido as Light & Wonder Spark, integrating it as the group’s new distribution and development arm for their studio partners program. The milestone was also a defining moment for PlayJeux’s founding trio—Sovanna Phan, Tony Plaskow, and Jean-François Lorrain—who set out on a mission to disrupt regulated iGaming with Playjeux’s multiplayer vision. The PlayJeux ethos is all about ‘Where Gamer Meets Gambler’. It is built on how social casinos thrive on competition, storytelling, achievements, and not payouts. Sovanna recalls a VIP player from his casino days who dropped $10,000 a month on average on a social casino app to outscore friends. “The player wasn’t chasing real money cash prizes. He was just chasing the thrill of hitting big wins, climbing the leaderboard, out-playing his friends or people in the network. And that showed me one thing that is super important: The emotional and competitive experience is often more powerful than the financial reward itself,” he says. With Canada’s online gaming market projected to grow 10% annually, the PlayJeux bet on social, interactive, regulated multi-player gambling positions the studio as a global disruptor.

Pictured above is a glimpse of the next evolution in online slots: a regulated multiplayer experience designed for shared excitement. Set in a lively barnyard world, The Chikos’ Party™ brings players together with interactive avatars, community jackpots, and bonus rounds that everyone can join. With its bright visuals and playful characters, it captures the joy of social gaming with real rewards. Could this playful twist on slots signal the future of communal play in regulated online casinos?
Sovanna Phan and the PlayJeux team think so, rejecting the vision of traditional multiplayer slots, where two players share a physical machine, betting and winning in tandem. “That’s not the experience we wanted,” Sovanna says. Instead, PlayJeux developed The Chikos’ Party™ using its proprietary GameLinker™ mechanic, placing multiple players in a virtual room. Each player engages with the base game individually, just like in a single-player version. When one player triggers a bonus round, everyone goes to the community bonus round. If one player hits a jackpot, everyone in the room shares the reward. “You play at your own pace,” Sovanna explains, “but
when someone wins, everyone wins.” This blend of personal control and shared excitement defines PlayJeux’s multiplayer vision. Light & Wonder strongly supported this direction. They believed in the potential of multiplayer and allowed PlayJeux to help reimagine two of their most iconic titles— Raging Rhino™ and Reel ’Em In™—as multiplayer experiences, reimagined with focus on fun and community play. PlayJeux collaborated closely with Light & Wonder to bring both games to life. This collaboration, which spanned over two years, produced a robust multiplayer platform designed to support a broader series of multiplayer slots, table games and any other verticals. I kept pushing our math team to rework the models. I wanted a game logic where players could spin a multiplayer slot just like they would on a single-player slot, without compromise. At the heart of the pitch was the GameLinker™ concept, PlayJeux’s vision for true multiplayer slots, “which took us six months to do the math for the first game,” Sovanna says. “We’ve reimagined some of the most beloved casino classics, introducing new ways to play, chase rewards together, and still stay true to their core essence.”

PlayJeux to Launch Canada’s First Regulated Multiplayer Game with Loto-Québec in June

New GameLinker™ Technology Redefines Multiplayer Slots & Table Games with Dynamic Shared Wins
PlayJeux Studios is set to launch a multiplayer gaming platform for the regulated market in Canada through Light & Wonder, with Loto-Québec becoming the first operator worldwide to introduce the new innovation. Powered by its proprietary GameLinker™ technology, the one-of-a-kind games platform introduces a new approach to multiplayer slots, connecting players virtually for shared outcomes and a dynamic social experience. Central to PlayJeux’s offering is the GameLinker™ concept, which CEO Sovanna Phan describes as “our definition of a true multiplayer slot experience.” Unlike traditional land-based setups where players share a single machine, GameLinker™ enables individuals to play in a virtual room, linking sessions to collective rewards. “You play at your own pace, but as soon as someone triggers a bonus round or jackpot, everyone wins,” Sovanna explains.
The first title powered by GameLinker™, Multiplayer Raging Rhino™, a Light & Wonder classic, was reimagined with a community-focused approach. Three additional Light & Wonder titles, including Multiplayer Reel ’Em In™, are in the pipeline, alongside PlayJeux’s own original multiplayer slot games. The roadmap also includes multiplayer table games. As a start-up, Phan acknowledges the difficulty of explaining the concept at first. “It’s hard to sell slides,” he says, referring to early PowerPoint presentations that failed to convey the technology’s impact. A playable multiplayer demo changed everything, earning strong praise from major operators like DraftKings and BetMGM. “They saw something new, something they hadn’t experienced,” Sovanna explains.
PlayJeux’s focus on regulated markets sets it apart from earlier, less successful attempts in grey or black markets. “Our tech is built to meet global regulatory standards,” Sovanna notes. “We’re very fortunate to have GLI, an accredited testing company, as a partner to advise and guide us through the complexities of gaming compliance to ensure that our innovation complies with regulation.” He is also quick to credit the key role of Light & Wonder in making it all possible. “They are our industry leader in regulated gaming. None of this would have happened if they hadn’t embraced the multiplayer vision and had been willing to support a startup like us. Their belief in innovation and openness to collaboration has been instrumental.”

Canada’s Strict Regulation Drives Responsible Gaming Innovation
THE Multiplayer games partnership with Loto-Québec positions Canada as the launchpad for PlayJeux innovative vertical, with CEO Sovanna Phan aiming to redefine player engagement. “Multiplayer isn’t just a feature; it’s the future,” he asserts. “We’re creating a new way to play, bridging gamers and gamblers through interactivity.”
Loto-Québec, established in 1969, operates under Québec’s strict regulatory framework, overseeing lotteries, casinos, and online gaming. Regulated by the Alcohol, Gaming and Charity Funding Public Interest Act, it ensures transparency, fairness, and responsible gambling, maintaining a monopoly on Québec’s online gaming market. “Partnering with Loto-Québec is a game-changer,” says PlayJeux CEO Sovanna Phan. “Their rigorous standards provide the perfect foundation for launching our multiplayer vertical in a regulated market.”
This partnership enhances Loto-Québec’s digital innovation strategy, building on recent content agreements with global providers. By launching Canada’s first regulated true multiplayer slots, it cements its leadership in the sector. “Loto-Québec’s commitment to regulation aligns with our mission to deliver compliant, cutting-edge gaming experience."
Loto-Québec’s financial strength bolsters the partnership’s potential. In its 2023-2024 fiscal year, the corporation reported revenues of CAD 2.8 billion, with online gaming contributing a growing share, up 12% year-over-year. Its profitability, driven by innovation.

MEET THE LEADING CRYPTO PLAYERS
We reveal some of the big games buyers in the crypto sphere 2025
In 2012, Satoshi Dice emerged online, widely regarded as the internet's first crypto gambling platform, introducing unregulated "provably fair" dice games with "verifiable rolls". By 2014, authorities in the Caribbean nation of Curaçao chose to regulate crypto gambling, leading these platforms to evolve from basic websites with limited games into comprehensive fiat gaming centers with a variety of offerings. Previously, crypto casinos primarily focused on offering just one or two straightforward provably fair games such as dice, Plinko, crash, limbo, and mines. These days, it's quite common to come across a crypto casino boasting a lobby housing over 5,000 games. This trend is largely due to the fact that most of these platforms have received approval or licensing from one of the four main Curacao master licence holders: Curaçao e-Gaming, Gaming Curaçao, CIL, and Antillephone. While
> Regulatory Leniency Spurs Crypto Casino Expansion & Innovation
these four entities have been established for quite some time, their technical specifications are considerably less stringent compared to standards set by regulatory bodies such as the UK's Gambling Commission or the Swedish Gambling Authority. Essentially, they are open to approving almost anyone who seeks their endorsement. This leniency allows their licensees to offer extensive game collections, surpassing those typically found in the traditional fiat-based sector of the industry. Despite Bitcoin's widespread popularity in the crypto market, it's not the fastest deposit/ withdrawal option due to its large user base. Tron and Ripple are two alternative blockchain networks whose currencies are often accepted at crypto casinos, processing transactions in mere seconds. Therefore, in terms of transfer speeds, there's no competition between fiat and virtual money gambling sites. The same applies to payout limits.

Part of the SoftConstruct conglomerate, BetConstruct holds a license from Malta for crypto. White-label partners of the supplier, such as Vbet.net (Vivaro Limited), enable their players to make deposits using cryptocurrencies, thereby targeting crypto users. Additionally, BetConstruct recently unveiled Fasttoken, which saw participation from over 80+ iGaming content developers.
VBet provides betting markets across over 120 sports and holds licenses for operation in Great Britain, Malta, France, and Sweden, with pending applications in other jurisdictions. VBet is a subsidiary of Vivaro Limited, advertises heavily how players can easily convert their fiat currencies into FTN token and participate in the ecosystem.

+ Hannah Farrugia, (pictured left), Head of Studio at AvatarUX discovered her passion for game design during a Valletta Game Jam—an experience that sparked her journey into the iGaming world. Today, she plays a leading role at AvatarUX, the studio behind ground breaking mechanics like PopWins™ and Infinity Stacks, and hit titles such as CherryPop and Depths of Fortune. Known for delivering simple yet electrifying gameplay, AvatarUX has secured partnerships with leading iGaming operators across the globe.
A Beautiful Mind
It was amid the frenetic pulse of a Game Jam in her home town of Valletta in Malta that Hannah Farrugia, Head of Studio at AvatarUX, found her calling. A lifelong gamer - picking up her first controller at a young age - Farrugia’s passion quickly turned into a career. At the 48-hour coding marathon, fueled by coffee and camaraderie, she crafted a video game from scratch. An iGaming industry scout, struck by her alchemy, approached with a proposition: “If you can make a video game in 48 hours, you can make a slot.” Today, Farrugia leads the creative and strategic direction at AvatarUX, the innovative studio behind some of the most distinctive mechanics in the iGaming industry.
Known for their award-winning mechanics and products, AvatarUX continues to redefine slot dynamics. PopWins™, the studio’s breakthrough mechanic, transforms gameplay by making winning symbols "pop" and split into two, expanding the reels and unlocking more ways to win. It powers iconic titles like CherryPop, which also features the adrenaline-charged Gamble Wheel—a feature that adds tension and excitement as players chase the coveted Golden Slice, unlocking the game’s highest level of free spins and explosive win potential.
Innovating within the slot game industry is a formidable challenge, where maintaining simplicity remains a cornerstone of success. "The slot market is intensely competitive," says Hannah Farrugia. "Our guiding principle is to prioritise simplicity, as that’s what has driven the enduring appeal of the most iconic games. Our latest Infinity Stacks mechanic is a perfect embodiment of this philosophy. It introduces a dynamic grid with cascading reels that move like a waterfall, with stacks of matching symbols cascading downward to merge and boost multipliers, culminating in substantial payouts when they align on adjacent reels."
AvatarUX has also expanded this innovation with features like Giant Stacks, featured in popular titles like Vegas Fortune Vegas Fortune. According to Farrugia: "In these games, double symbols appearing at the top or bottom of the reels nudge into position. When they connect with adjacent matching symbols, they merge, amplifying rewards and delivering thrilling wins." These homegrown mechanics, brought to life with vibrant characters and captivating visuals, have garnered attention from global operators and partners, contributing to the success of the Studio. By integrating dynamic animations and immersive soundscapes, AvatarUX enhances player engagement, solidifying its reputation for delivering innovative, high-energy gaming experiences that resonate worldwide.

+ AvatarUX’s most popular title is a vibrant, fruit-themed slot brought to life with the studio’s ground-breaking PopWins™ mechanic. With sleek neon visuals, dynamic reel expansion, and exciting bonus features, CherryPop delivers a simple yet electrifying gameplay experience that keeps players coming back.

+ Depths of Fortune is a brilliantly entertaining underwater-themed slot that dives deep into excitement with the Hold & Win mechanic. Packed with the innovative Loaded Reel feature, filled with thrilling rewards, this game delivers immersive, action-filled gameplay and stands out as a strong addition to the AvatarUX portfolio.

+ Electro Cubes is a high-voltage 3D 5×5 slot that pays anywhere on the grid, powered by shifting reels and chargedup wilds. “It’s like a Rubik’s Cube and slots got married,” says Hannah. With the Collect Meter, Electro Wild Throws, and the electrifying Cube Nudge, this dynamic title delivers a truly unique and thrilling gameplay experience.
Proprietary Mechanics: Blending Boundless Innovation With Vibrant Creativity
+ PopWins™, AvatarUX’s signature mechanic, has revolutionised slot gameplay with its simple, yet powerful design. It expands the reels whenever winning symbols “pop” and are replaced, doubling positions up to 7 or even 9 rows high. Featured in popular titles like CherryPop and MonkeyPop, this dynamic mechanic dramatically increases win ways and player excitement. What sets PopWins™ apart is its versatility—it can be seamlessly combined with engaging features such as Free Spins, reward-enhancing elements like the popular ZapReel™ (another innovative creation of the Studio), and more. This makes for high-potential gameplay that consistently stands out. As a result, PopWins™ has become a key innovation, firmly establishing AvatarUX’s reputation as a trailblazer in iGaming.
+ Infinity Stacks is a dynamic and visually striking mechanic where matching symbol stacks cascade down the reels and merge together as they land. This seamless motion not only enhances the visual appeal but also builds anticipation with every spin. As these stacks combine, they boost attached multipliers, significantly increasing the payout potential. When aligned on a valid payline, the merged stacks can trigger substantial wins, offering players an engaging and rewarding gameplay experience. This mechanic exemplifies AvatarUX’s commitment to blending innovation with intuitive game design.
+ Fortune Collector is one of the standout mechanics in the Studio's growing portfolio, making its debut in the highly anticipated game Captain More'gain. Each time an arrow hits its mark, the Fortune Collector is activated-sweeping across the grid to gather Cash Prizes and uncover hidden treasures.
Avatar's robust partner network amplifies its global reach, featuring key players like Digitain, Hub88, and SoftGamings. These leading global collaborations integrate the company's innovative technology such as 'Infinity Stacks' into diverse platforms, enhancing audience reach.

BARA BAR BANG!

If you haven’t yet heard the name “Barbara Bang” echo through an international iGaming expo hall, you soon will. At the centre of this energetic, colourful force is Lorena Vieira — 100% made in the Brazilian capital Brasília and currently shaking things up as Partnerships Manager at the Malta-headquartered game provider. In our latest 'Woman on a Mission' interview, GamblingIQ caught up with Lorena to learn how her eclectic background in international banking, diplomacy and business development has shaped her approach to strategic partnerships — and what makes Barbara Bang stand out in the increasingly crowded iGaming arena. Lorena’s energy is infectious, no doubt powered in part by her self-professed love of sunshine. “I thrive in sunny places,” she says. “Miami, Dubai, Malta, Sri Lanka — all of them have given me not just warmth, but perspective.” Travelling through various markets has helped her become adept at adjusting her communication style to local business norms. “You need to understand the rhythm of each place — how people negotiate, how they build trust,” she explains. For Lorena, it's about more than closing deals; it's about building long-term relationships. She’s especially proud of the strong communities she’s formed among Latinos, Brazilians, and expats in Europe. Lorena's road to the iGaming industry wasn’t linear. Her journey began with a desire to live abroad and experience a broader world. That ambition led her to Suffolk University and ultimately Malta. The path wasn’t easy. “COVID hit right when I arrived,” she recalls. “I had to take on all kinds of jobs, but I never stopped networking.” It was this persistence — and some well-placed university connections — that landed her a role in tech with an insurance company; a stepping stone that brought her closer to the gaming world. Her story is a masterclass in adaptability and the value of staying connected. “Your network really is your net worth,” she reflects. Lorena’s first taste of iGaming came through SEO affiliation in Brazil — a world she describes as fast-moving and endlessly fascinating. “I kept asking questions,” she says. “How do platforms work? Who makes the games?” That curiosity led her deeper into the ecosystem, eventually joining Barbara Bang — a company whose identity she’s helped to shape. She points out the industry’s dramatic transformation: “When I started, events were small, almost underground. Now they’re massive productions with entire countries flying in teams.” Even the company’s name — Barbara Bang — has a story. “It’s fun, it’s bold, and it sounds great when you say it,” Lorena says with a grin. “That’s exactly what we want the brand to feel like.”

So what makes Barbara Bang different? According to Lorena Vieira, it comes down to creativity, agility, culture. “We develop everything in-house, which keeps the quality consistent and the brand voice clear. And because we’re smaller, we can adapt quickly.”
Lorena emphasises the value of feedback loops with clients and partners. “We’re always listening. If something’s not working in a market, we adjust.” Their games are known for their layered mechanics, immersive themes, and most of all — fun. Expansion is always on the agenda. From Latin America to Asia, Lorena is spearheading efforts to grow BarBara Bang’s presence. “I want people to know our brand, but also to know me — to come to me when they need insight on a commercial strategy or provider landscape,” she says.
And that goal is well underway. Thanks to Lorena’s networking and hands-on market research, Barbara Bang is becoming a familiar name in more territories — not just as a game provider, but as a brand with personality. The final takeaway from our interview was Lorena’s emphasis on people. Whether it’s quickly sizing up a counterpart in a business meeting or cultivating an internal culture that values play, she never loses sight of the human element.
“Our team even says ‘Barbara, Bang!’ when we close a deal,” she laughs. “It’s a little silly, but it’s part of what makes us, well us.” It’s

this mix of professionalism, cultural savvy, and bold spirit that positions Lorena Vieira — and Barbara Bang — as names to remember in the evolving world of iGaming.
The company's games are renowned for their intricate mechanics and immersive experiences. Utilising HTML5 technology, their titles are optimised for smooth play across desktops and mobile devices, ensuring accessibility for a broad player base. Beyond game development, Barbara Bang offers a suite of tools designed to boost player loyalty and provide operators with customisable solutions:
Loyalty Program: This feature automatically provides bonuses, including daily cash prizes and a progressive jackpot, enhancing player participation and loyalty within specific casinos.
Tournaments : Barbara Bang hosts both network and local tournaments, distributing prizes in cash and Free Spins. These events are instrumental in attracting new players and improving overall performance metrics.
Exclusive Branded Games: Operators can personalise top casino slots to match their brand, enhancing player trust and expanding their portfolio with customised products.

Innovative games, global reach, trusted brand
These tools underscore the firm's commitment to providing comprehensive solutions that cater to both players and operators.
Barbara Bang's strategic partnerships have been pivotal in their global expansion. Their collaboration with Timeless Tech, for instance, has broadened their reach, integrating over 90 games into their aggregator platform. Additionally, their alliance with Slotegrator has facilitated expansion in Europe and Latin America, offering a variety of promotional tactics, including free spins, jackpots, and customised tournaments. Barbara Bang's blend of innovative game mechanics, strategic tools, global partnerships, and stringent compliance measures positions them as a GamblingIQ Rising Star for 2025 and a formidable player in the iGaming industry.

Entrepreneurial Journeys
England's Crucible Gaming Builds Momentum in USA
After the initial success of Road Trip 66™ and Quarterback Fields of Glory™, summer release Dynamite Chickens™ is tipped by GamblingIQ to be the next breakout title as Crucible readies for July launch via L&W OpenGaming System
Crucible Gaming, the Sheffield-based games studio founded by industry veteran Edward Byard , is gaining traction in the competitive US online casino market following a string of early successes — and now has its sights set on a summer breakout with the upcoming launch of Dynamite Chickens, a new slot title that builds on a proven mechanic with a unique twist.
The company, who first came to prominence with bespoke development projects and later through a successful distribution partnership with Light & Wonder, is now beginning to carve out a reputation beyond UK borders into 18 different markets thanks to its data-informed approach to game mechanics and long-standing ties to industry players. Founded in late 2019, and located about 300 yards from the fabled Crucible Theatre, the studio was initially intended as a boutique development shop for custom content. “We were building games to spec, often for larger operators,” Byard told GamblingIQ. “But over time, we started creating more of our own IP, and our latest games — especially in the US — have been very well received.”
Indeed, Crucible has already released several titles tailored for the American market, including Road Trip 66™, a mid-volatility Americana-themed slot that includes a 'guaranteed minimum bonus win' mechanic designed to lengthen player engagement. The game’s feedback, particularly around its retention-driven design, has encouraged Crucible to invest further in original content aimed at transatlantic audiences. Now Dynamite Chickens, set for a July release, could be a breakthrough moment.

The game builds on the increasingly popular three-pot mechanic , a structure popularised by perceived persistence slots. “The three-pot format has been around for a few years now, but we’ve done something very different with it,” he says. “You’ll have to play it to see exactly what, but we think it’s something unique.”
Byard entered the gambling industry in the late 1990s as a teenager working in pubs and playing fruit machines after hours. He later went solo, starting Apollo Gaming as a consultancy firm before co-founding Betdigital in 2011 — a studio that played a pivotal role in porting US land-based and online titles to the UK betting shop market. That business, which reached a multi-million-pound turnover, was sold to NYX
(latterly Scientific Games) in 2016. Crucible’s long-standing relationship with Light & Wonder has helped the company secure distribution across key markets. “We’ve worked together for a good few years now, and we’re incredibly happy with the relationship,” Byard says. “It gives us access to top-tier operators and lets us focus on making top quality games rather than fighting to be heard.” He is somewhat critical of studios flooding the market with content: “You currently have teams boasting about 250 games in their portfolio, but when you look, most of them are just re-skins and little to no innovation. There’s far too much content chasing too little attention. We like to focus on a smaller number of high-quality games that offer something meaningful,” he says.

Sheffield Quality Recognised Worldwide
The prestigious 'Made in Sheffield' stamp of approval signifies Crucible Gaming’s excellence, blending innovative slot design with the city’s renowned industrial heritage, earning global trust and industry acclaim.
Crucible Gaming proudly bears the “Made in Sheffield” mark—a badge earned through significant contributions to the city. And this is central to the company's vision. The city’s vibrant tech scene, bolstered by two universities and a thriving creative arts community, fuels innovation. “It’s a fantastic place to start a business,” Edward Byard says.
The proximity to tech firms like Flutter and a rich English gaming heritage in the midlands of the UK, exemplified by companies like Manchester-based Barcrest, which at one point churned out around 2,000 machines weekly in its 1990s peak, further enriches the Sheffield ecosystem.
As operators grow more selective, navigating a sea of mediocre and reskinned releases, Crucible’s unwavering commitment to originality and quality consistently shines through.

Meanwhile, Light & Wonder continues to shine in gameplay depth and cross-platform strength with Squid Game: One Lucky Day - a title that bridges land-based and online play with a Netflix IP tie-in.

Its Buffalo Deluxe reimagines a fan favourite with rich, mobile-first character design that maintains high performance across platforms. Relatively new kid on the block Octoplay is pushing mechanical innovation with its Jackpot Hunt side bet option and new Daily Hunt feature — adding volatility and excitement while increasing revenue potential for operators.
