An Inside Look at Galveston Bay Foundation’s Work & Future Kemah Home

Education We believe investing in education is one of the most meaningful ways to preserve Galveston Bay for generations to come. Our education programs get students of all ages outdoors and connected with nature through hands-on STEM curriculum, helping to inspire youth to become the future stewards of the Bay.

Habitat Restoration Erosion, marine debris and other factors can harm and degrade our natural Galveston Bay habitat. By prioritizing programs that restore and protect our shorelines, remove potentially toxic substances from our waters, and reintroduce lost habitats, we work to ensure that Galveston Bay remains a healthy and productive place for generations to come.

Water Protection To ensure a healthy Bay and to do our part to keep the Bay fishable and swimmable, water protection remains at the core of our work. Through volunteer water monitoring efforts, water conservation programs, and pollution mitigation measures, we work with you to help protect the quality of Galveston Bay’s waters for all.

Land Conservation Working alongside private landowners, Galveston Bay Foundation has conserved over 8,000 acres of critical coastal habitat in and around Galveston Bay. Land conservation can be a solution for challenges communities face, adding overall quality of life and resilience to coastal issues. Conserved land provides clean water, recreational opportunities, scenic beauty, a refuge for wildlife, and ensures a vibrant agricultural future.
