Incubator. This collaborative is designed to leverage resources, enhance the local and regional economies, create new jobs and ultimately drive the emerging technology ecosystem for Galveston and Galveston County.
Photo courtesy UTMB Pictured above is the pilot wet-lab that is currently being renovated on the 3rd floor of the Customs House. These renovations are being completed with the assistance of an EDA grant and scheduled for completion in Q4 of 2021.

The Office of Technology Transfer Medical Branch Innovations (MBI) Customs House Incubator
The office of Technology Transfer manages UTMB intellectual property assets while promoting and encouraging scientific research.
MBI is a subsidiary of UTMB established to commercialize cutting edge health care innovations developed by world renowned scientists, clinicians, and engineers.
In collaboration with the GEDP, UTMB will utilize this space for emerging tech start-ups. This center will offer programs and services for start-up emerging tech companies.

The studio brings together experienced innovators, UTMB resources, and institutional and community partners to support clients as they navigate the complex ecosystem of information and resources necessary to develop new drugs, devices and interventions, and services.
