Koons is an American artist known for working with exotic commercial materials such as high chromium stainless steel for reproducing relatively common objects and transforming them into high art. His paintings and sculptures play with ideas of tease, pleasure, celebrity and commerce while borrowing widely from traditional art techniques. Although many view his work as ironic or tongue-incheek, Koons insists his art has no hidden meaning.
