This week has seen three evening events which have been significant successes. Firstly, the Year 10 Formal was a sensational evening. Our students’ participation and behaviour on the evening was outstanding. One grandparent rang us after the event thanking us for running the evening and highlighted how ‘glamorous’ the students looked. Many thanks to all staff for your efforts in preparing our students, organising the event and supporting us with supervision of the evening. Night of the Notables Once again, ‘Night of the Notables’ allowed our students to shine. The pride that families have seeing their children present to an audience is a great joy for myself. As always, there are students who step out of their comfort zone to present. This is a moment, I believe, many of them will not forget. Thanks again to all who supported our students.

VET Agriculture students have been busy catching up on practical components of their course due to COVID restrictions; it is so good to be back out and about in the community and seeing the students develop and further their skills and confidence. High risk units that the students have travelled to Wodonga Tafe the last two weeks to complete their ‘operate tractors and operate quad bikes’ units has been a great success with all students passing with ‘flying’ colours. Students are taken through the safety, operation and then practical components whilst their skills develop they are then tested with a trailer in tow. The students also battled the elements which to their credit did not faze them one bit, it certainly added to relevance of the safety and operation procedures.

Parkour Park Temporary Closure

Parkour Park at Wangaratta’s Apex Park Regional Playspace is closed due to flooding. Ongoing rainfall and high river levels have caused inundation of the area and temporary fencing has been installed to restrict access to the parkour facilities. While Parkour Park was designed and constructed to withstand flooding, temporary fencing was required to stop people accessing the park and causing damage. There are some areas of the fake grass which have lifted, these will be repaired, and the park reopened when weather permits. - Rural City of Wangaratta

Join ‘Captain Eleanore Cosplay’ for an introductory crash-course in a variety of cosplay techniques. Take part in a discussion about all things Cosplay – techniques for creating your costume and props, where to buy materials, convention life, photoshoots, and anything else you would like to know. Prop-building techniques will then be put into practice as you craft a blade (sword or dagger), giving you the chance to try out foam, thermoplastic, pleather, paint ing techniques and more. Bring a photo or printed image of a blade you would like to create. A template will also be available. Eleanore has been cosplaying for over 6 years, crafting for 10 years, and sewing for over 20 years. Over the years she’s cosplayed a range of characters and designs, particularly from Star Wars, Marvel, RWBY and other superhero series. She is drawn to cosplays that involve a lot of sewing, cool props and as little armour as possible! Eleanore's ethos is that no matter how much experience or skill you have, you can always learn more.
