THE FERRARI OF ONTARIO RALLY

Dear Friends,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 16th Annual Ferrari of Ontario Rally in support of the SickKids and Mackenzie Health Foundations. With COVID restrictions these past 2 years we were not able to host the Rally for you in the proper Ferrari way. Our Rally continues to be a very important event for me in the name of Ferrari as recognized on the Hospital for Sick Children Donor Wall as a Grand Partner.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors and in particular our lead sponsor CyberSuiteX, owned by our client and friend Remo D’Angelo, along with the rest of our live auction sponsors and supporters for their generosity, through donated gifts and services.
Over the years, our Rally events have raised over $2.7 million. With your support, we have managed to collectively produce some amazing projects. We are in the last year of our Ferrari themed pre-operative care clinic at SickKids Hospital. Our commitment has led to the redevelopment of the operating suites, which allowed for fewer cases to be delayed and reduce surgery wait times. It also provides a calm, private, and quiet area for families to prepare for surgery, while in the Ferrari inspired child friendly waiting area. We are currently a Grand Partner on The Hospital for Sick Children Donor Wall.
Our last rally in 2019 marked the first year in Support of the Mackenzie Health Foundation and the newly opened Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital which opened its doors in 2021. The Vaughan Hospital is the first built hospital in the city of Vaughan, and the first new hospital built in York Region in the last 30 years.
I would like to thank my team for their hard work and cooperation in preparing this event. In addition, I would like to thank Ferrari North America and Ferrari S.p.A who continue to strongly support this event as each year passes.
Finally, to our friends, participants, and guests, thank you for making this rally such a prosperous and joyous event.
Sincerely,
Remo FerriSickKids Foundation

Health Foundations
Welcome everyone to the 16th Ferrari of Ontario Rally, a fundraising event for the SickKids Foundation.
Ontarians have a long tradition of looking out for others and taking care of the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society. We all know that childhood illnesses take a heavy emotional and physical toll — not just on children, but also on their families. The funds raised for SickKids Hospital today will help support vital priority projects including building a renewed SickKids Hospital campus, which will take an innovative and patient-centred approach to pediatric medicine.
I applaud the hardworking team who made this terrific fundraiser possible. I also want to thank today’s guests and participants for their generosity and commitment to this worthwhile project.
Best wishes for another exciting and highly successful rally.
Doug Ford Premier of OntarioIt is my pleasure to extend greetings and a warm welcome to everyone attending the 16th Ferrari of Ontario Rally hosted by Ferrari of Ontario and the SickKids Foundation.
Best wishes to everyone who is taking part in today’s rally in support of SickKids Hospital’s projects, including helping to fund a renewed SickKids Hospital campus. The past contributions from this event have already improved health care for children, through redeveloped operating suites and a Ferrari-themed, child-friendly waiting area. Thank you to everyone for helping to raise funds for such worthy causes.
The City is proud of organizations that are committed to making a difference. I thank everyone participating in this fundraising event for your contribution to the well-being of our communities.
On behalf of Toronto City Council, please accept my best wishes for a memorable event and continued success.

Welcome to the 16th Annual Ferrari of Ontario Rally in support of SickKids and Mackenzie Health. Your attendance affirms your commitment to helping us advance the quality of care for children and families in our communities and beyond, and we are so grateful.
With a population of more than 1.2 million and the number of people living in York Region expected to increase by more than 35 per cent over the next 20 years, our growing population is something we are preparing for.
We are embarking on a remarkable journey to help make crucial investments in lifesaving equipment and new technology at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. Now that our two-hospital model is a reality, we are focused on continuing to attract the very best talent, advancing excellence in Mackenzie Health’s programs and services, and securing the latest equipment and technology to help ensure the best possible outcomes for every patient.
As we expect to welcome approximately 4,000 births each year, every act of generosity will further our mission to provide comprehensive care for pregnant and labouring women, high-risk newborns and children at Mackenzie Health’s Woman and Child Program.
On behalf of everyone at Mackenzie Health, we would like to extend our congratulations and appreciation to the Remo Ferri Group. We are honoured by your decision to support our mission to deliver the ultimate health experience through this incredible event and your $1-million gift to the NICU Family Lounge/Play Area at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. Your investment will immeasurably improve the experience for birthing parents and give tiny newborns the very best start in life.
To all of today’s participants and guests, you have already made a difference by being here today, and we hope you leave the rally feeling inspired.
We look forward to working together to build a better, bolder future for the health of everyone in our community. Thank you for your continued support.

The Ferrari Purosangue is the first ever four-door, four-seater car in Ferrari’s history, but models with two rear seats have played a significant role in the company’s strategy since the very beginning. Now, in the culmination of 75 years of leading-edge research, Ferrari has created a unique car and the encapsulation of the Prancing Horse’s DNA, where performance, driving pleasure and comfort coexist in perfect harmony. And that’s why this new model was called Ferrari Purosangue – Italian for thoroughbred.

Health’s two-hospital future is now a reality for our growing community, who have been patiently waiting for the opening of a new hospital for many years. Thanks to the tremendous support of community leaders like the Ferri family and R. Ferri Automotive, Canada’s first smart hospital, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, is now open to serve western York Region and beyond.
Your transformational $1-million gift toward the R. Ferri Automotive Family Lounge in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within the Woman and Child Program provides a quiet, relaxing space for families to unwind while receiving around-the-clock care for small and premature newborns. The R. Ferri Automotive Family Lounge provides parents and families with the space they need to rest and connect as a family, form lifelong bonds with other parents and celebrate the milestones along their infant’s journey while in hospital.
Your thoughtful investment in the Ultimate fundraising campaign ensures patients and families have access to exceptional care for mothers, babies and children, close to home – and in our community.
Thanks to your remarkable gift, and with the support of other community partners, we are closer than ever to reaching our historic $250-million Ultimate campaign goal. This would not be possible without your steadfast commitment to improving the health and well-being of our families and young people. The following pages provide an inside look at our journey to the opening of Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.
Thank you for your incredible support of Mackenzie Health and the Woman and Child Program. We look forward to celebrating your generosity at the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital when it’s safe to do so.
After initially stepping up as a system solution to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital now offers all hospital services as originally planned. Throughout the pandemic, Mackenzie Health witnessed an outpouring of generosity from new and longstanding donors alike: from children donating their allowances to buy gift cards for nurses to groups sewing handmade face masks to national corporations making financial contributions. Now more than ever, our community understands how important Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is for the residents of western York Region. And, with your support, we are making it happen.
Mackenzie Health’s two-hospital future, comprised of Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, along with a network of community-based programs and services, is here. It’s the health care experience the communities of Vaughan, Richmond Hill, King and beyond have long awaited.
The COVID-19 pandemic has made it clear that the need for a second hospital has never been greater. With the full opening of the 1.2-millionsquare-foot Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital on June 6, Ontario’s health care system celebrated its first net new hospital in more than 30 years. Together, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Mackenzie Health’s community-based locations are doubling access to exceptional patient care and revolutionizing health care in western York Region.
Each Mackenzie Health hospital has a full-service emergency department, core services and specialized programs to provide the care patients need. Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is now open to support expectant parents and their children, those struggling with mental health challenges, patients recovering from a stroke and those in need of surgical or emergency care.

WhenDavid Maggiori was three months old, he became ill and was rushed to The Hospital for Sick Children. He was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, which means “heart muscle disease” and causes the heart muscle to function poorly. His family was informed that David might require a heart transplant. Luckily for the Maggiori family, David’s condition improved. He was discharged and for the next thirteen years lived a normal, active life. He returned to SickKids for regular clinical visits and, as his health improved, was also monitored by a local cardiologist in Woodbridge, Ontario. He was a regular active child, attended school and participated in many sports and activities including baseball and volleyball.
However, at one regular follow up in the Heart Function Clinic at SickKids, David and his family learned that his heart was becoming further enlarged. David had been growing rapidly, which had also placed greater demands upon his heart. Additional medications were prescribed, but David had to return to SickKids because he was having obvious trouble breathing. He had caught a cold that rapidly progressed to viral pneumonia. David’s parents, Patricia and Dan, found themselves transported from the spectator stands watching David play volleyball, to admission at SickKids in the blink of an eye. SickKids staff attempted to reduce the excess fluid that was building up in his lungs but at this point his blood pressure was becoming very low, he became weak and light headed, and could not walk for very long.
By the end of September in that year, doctors determined that he would require mitral valve surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery did not solve David’s heart muscle weakness and his organs began to fail. A few days after the operation, because of poor circulation, his heart was weakened to the point that it could not supply his body with enough blood. The Maggiori family learned that he would require a heart transplant. In order to keep David alive until a donor heart could be found, he was taken back into surgery and placed on an artificial heart known as the Berlin Heart. This mechanical device works alongside the heart, pumping blood throughout the body. The Berlin Heart kept David alive until a donor heart became available. David went into surgery for a third time and received his new heart.
In August the next year, David competed in the World Transplant Games in Australia; something his parents would have never imagined to be possible. He competed in shot put, badminton and high jump.
To look at David today, one would never guess what he has endured.
