Collingwood is located on the shores of Georgian Bay and in the southern health region of Simcoe Muskoka. Collingwood's population was 24,811 as of 2021 (Chapman, 2022). It is known for its vast recreation opportunities, especially skiing, due to the elevation of the escarpment. Blue Mountain is the most widely known public ski resort in the area, plus 6 smaller private ski clubs. Collingwood’s recreation attracts numerous visitors from the surrounding area and GTA, many of which have dual occupancy. The demographics in the area include a mean age of 50.8, mainly female and married. The highest minority Note. Sourced from Research Gate (n.d.) group is South Asian, 285 individuals are First Nations and 250 are Metis (Townfolio, 2022).
