Gaia Education: Optimising the Certification Process Daniel Greenberg, leading the Gaia Certification Team As Gaia Education grows and develops, we are proud of how the Certification Team has provided guidelines and support for the continual improvement of EDE programmes around the world. We currently have a team of nine very experienced reviewers, from as many countries, who evaluate certification applications (typically in pairs) in January, May and September. There are three ways for new programmes to be associated with Gaia Education. Those that do not meet criteria for Full Certification are eligible to apply for a start-up grant and be Supported by Gaia Education. It is also possible to forego the certification process altogether and simply be Inspired by the Gaia Education curriculum. Given our global network, we have been increasingly using the online application and evaluation forms. The result has been a greater consistency of information and quicker, more efficient dissemination of applications to the Certification Team. This in turn has resulted in speedier feedback to programme organizers and Gaia Education staff. Also, in an effort to decentralize and streamline our systems, we are experimenting with the Chair of the Certification Committee receiving and processing applications and coordinating their review among team members. Any questions about Gaia Education certifications can be addressed to certification@gaiaeducation.net. Thank you for your interest.
