Create your own block print holiday cards without a press! This three-hour workshop features an introduction to relief printing techniques with rubber blocks and water base inks. The technique is the same as printing with linoleum, but the softer rubber blocks are easier to carve and print without the use of a printing press. Explore the process of planning your print, transferring the image to the block and proofing and printing your design. You are also shown various methods of adding additional color to your print. In the tradition of all professional art schools, Gage offers drop-in figure studios every day of the week. Artists work independently from the model on a drop-in basis, gaining hands-on practice in drawing or painting the figure. In Artist’s Choice sessions, the pose is set by a guest instructor who works alongside studio artists for the duration of the pose. willow heath

Botanical themes are a natural for holiday cards: think the traditional holly and berries or evergreens and cones, as well as other possibilities for the imaginative – red and green abound in the botanical world! Come create your own cards in this one-day watercolor workshop, fun and challenging for beginners and more experienced artists alike. Make colorful cards and combine that holiday task with play, paints and your imagination! Students may purchase small amounts of necessary supplies such as paper and paint from the instructor to keep costs down; there is a scanner/printer available at minimal cost for those who wish to make multiples of their creations.
In the Reserved Figure Studios, a group of dedicated artists work from one figure pose throughout the 10-week quarter, with the pose set on the first night. Artists must register before the quarter begins to guarantee an easel space. Wednesday PM
