DAANG AGOS

An Avante Garde Tricycle Terminal

Location: Manila City, Philippines

The project calls for an avante garde transport terminal. It addresses imaginative solutions on mobility based on proposed or even current innovations in the world of transport, as well as the aesthetic language that serves as a visible component of an urban space. The terminal and its corresponding attached activities is utilized by the commuter and its served community.

Inspired by the history surrounding the site, the form of the building shall take the shapes of a casco casco, a traditional boat used by Filipinos traveling in esteros around Manila. This shall incorporate the connection of the new to the old resounding the humility of simpler times. The main material is also wood to maintain the primary theme of the concept.

It is better associated in the “tunnel” that tricycles go through due to its overlapping arches.

Pointing Horizons

A Multi-modal Transport Terminal

Location: Quezon City, Philippines

The project serves as the northern terminus for all buses and commuter vehicles coming from all destinations north of Metropolitan Manila. Aside from accommodating all provincial buses, it also facilitates ease of transfer with all local transport used in Metro Manila from jeepneys, tricycles, shared moped rides, taxis, point to point as well as the LRT, MRT and to the future Subway among others. The terminal contains a systematized operation which provides ticketing, managing, dispatching, maintenance, training, and professionalizing workforce.

The terminal aims to be a temporary escape from the concrete jungle of the Metropolitan Manila. Before passengers head on their way to conquer the challenges of the day, they can get a quick boost of serenity from the space that the building is hoping to give. Triangular forms are emphasized to better show the concept, a compass. It aims to point in all directions representing where people can travel.

Design Concept

A compass signifies man’s attempt to explore. It guides people to move from one place to another. As a terminal offers the opportunity to widen the chance of users to explore, a compass will be its main inspiration.

Initial Sketch

With the concept, the form of the building shall take a collection of triangular figures.

Vehicle Bays

Depart on the ground floor through the gates where you can find your vehicle.

Third Floor

This floor is where passengers arriving from the ground floor will head. It is the area where users can buy tickets. Few seating areas are provided. Commercial spaces are abundant. Administration office is located on this floor. On the most western part, an MRT/LRT station is present.

Second Floor

This floor is dedicated to passengers waiting for their vehicles. It is equipped with a wide seating area to accommodate a large number of users.

Quiet rooms are present for travelers needing rest. Commercial spaces are available to cater the needs of the commuters.

Ground Floor

This floor is dedicated to all vehicles.

Users will mainly use this floor to board or deboard their transportation. The vehicles shall enter the flow and head to their designated bays where passengers will board or get off. Busses, jeepneys, vans, and private vehicles are catered on this area.

UNIC: The Universal Clinic A Medical Arts Building

Location: Pasay City, Philippines

A project highlighting a Medical Arts Building that provide convenient offices and clinical spaces for physicians. It is a venue for sharing information amongst medical practitioners. It offer commercial spaces and comfortable areas for all users.

A wide stigma among Filipinos is the fear of visiting medical buildings. They fear that medical findings will hinder their daily lives due to its financial and time consuming commitment. To battle this, the form of the building shall take an inviting embrace to its users. Wide spaces dedicated to greenery and “hangout” areas eliminates the intimidating aura of the professional field. Use of materials that reflects earth colors welcome familiarity to people to instill comfort.

Physicians’ Offices

The offices floors are able to accomodate 23 doctors at a time. Each office spaces have their own comfort rooms, storage spaces, and an area for the secretary with a seating area for the patients.

Amenities Floor

The building is able to offer different amenity spaces such as a canteen, library, and a multipurpose hall. The building administration and health maintenance organizations’ offices are also located on this floor.

Diagnostics Floor

The floor is dedicated to spaces with machines diagnosing the diseases of the patients. It contatins the laboratories, office spaces for the personnels, and comfortable waiting areas for the patients.

Ground Floor

The ground floor is solely dedicated to receiving users. It has parking spaces for the doctors and patients. Since the site is near the coastal line, the lobby and offices are located on a higher ground to avoid the rising level of the sea during storms or other calamity causing events.

Location: Pasay City, Philippines

A general hospital located in Pasay City, Philippines. It is a 5 floor building with wide spaces for a park for users to enjoy to. The hospital is equipped with design solution in using natural remedies to alleviate or repel diseases.

Floor Planning Philosophy

Patient bed rooms are meticulously designed to promote optimal airflow, facilitating continuous circulation of clean, fresh air. This thoughtful layout not only prioritizes the well-being of patients by maintaining a hygienic environment but also maximizes natural sunlight exposure, uplifting patients’ mood and contributing to a positive healing atmosphere

Design Concept

A research featuring patient recovery spotlights a garden’s benefit in making the sick heal faster. Highlighting the patient experience, the Hospital shall be a haven for both physical and mental healing. A resort or retreat environment shall be the dominating aura of the site. A focus of biophilic architecture is the objective of the project. A balance of contemporary and tropical design shall be applied to instill the harmony of gravitas and serenity.

Symphony of Man and God An Art Gallery

Location: Paris City, France

A Gallery highlighting the reconstruction and rebuilding process of one of mankind’s most enduring buildings, the Notre Dame de Paris. The will showcase the efforts done by the French Nation in building an enduring monument to French perseverance, longevity, and history. It seeks to make the experience in visiting the Notre Dame de Paris better.

The divine embrace beckons humanity, yet it is humanity’s choice to embrace it. Within the gallery of Notre Dame, visitors are welcomed with open arms, their journey echoing the melody of divine acceptance. Inspired by the Aeolian Harp - an instrument played by the wind, akin to the whispers of celestial beings - the gallery’s form emerges, a testament to the harmony between human craftsmanship and divine inspiration. Reflecting the symbolism of a boat, reminiscent of the disciples casting their nets to draw souls, the structure embodies both the timeless wisdom of tradition and the transformative power of faith.

Visual and Auditory Delight

The gallery at Notre Dame de Paris aims to enhance visitors’ overall experience of the iconic site. While the plaza offers breathtaking views of architectural splendor and the serene Seine River, the gallery adds a new dimension by engaging the senses, particularly hearing. Utilizing the natural wind currents, harps placed strategically along the building’s grooves create ethereal melodies. Visitors are enveloped in a sense of welcome as they listen to the celestial music, evoking a feeling of connection with the divine, akin to being serenaded by the angels themselves
