In Peru, there is a great gap in public educational infrastructure, which in addition to being in poor condition is a reflection of an architecture based on educational pedagogies that have lost their contemporary relevance, resulting in low learning and high dropout rates.

Systematized 7 learning landscapes as architectural principles wich signified for the proposal the link between architecture and learning processes. In addition, they respond to the analysis of ergonometric requirements of early childhood, in the specific context of a village called Cachimayo according to its cultural, economic, physical and environmental conditions, as well as the normative principles.

The integral proposal was directed towards an organic architecture of free plan, prioritizing circular forms, transparency in the materiality and the relationship with the natural environment. Designing fluid spaces and free transit, to dissolve the interior and exterior limits. In order to ensure flexibility and sustainability, the project proposes the use of a mezzanine without slab beams, lightened with recyclable plastic spheres, vegetable coverings, as well as natural grass, trees and locally sourced wood in the rooms.

Thesis project for the degree of architect.

INDIVIDUAL

Four housing complexes occupy a total area of 15 072 m2 and have a height of five floors. Each complex has a different shape and orientation, creating a dynamic and diverse urban composition.

Five types of apartments that address the different needs of the users.

• Green areas and a central courtyard that are the articulating and transit axes of the project. The green areas provide a natural and relaxing environment for the residents and the visitors, as well as a buffer zone between the housing complexes and the surrounding streets.

• Commercial spaces of different uses that are located on the first floor of all the blocks. These offer a variety of services and amenities for the residents and visitors, such as shops, cafes, restaurants, offices, and studios. The commercial spaces also ensure the privacy of the apartments that are located from floor 2 to floor 5, by creating a visual and acoustic separation from the street level.

The design proposal for the collective housing aims to create a new and improved housing solution that can meet the current and future demands of the residents of Wanchaq and the city of Cusco. The design also seeks to create a dynamic and diverse urban composition that can integrate with the urban environment and respect the local culture and identity.

Exterior materiality of apparent brick that gives a warm and rustic character to the project. The brick is a local and sustainable material that is widely used in the architecture of Cusco, and that reflects the cultural and historical identity of the city. It also provides a good thermal and acoustic insulation for the apartments, as well as a low maintenance and durable finish.

It is important to point out that the measurements of the spaces in each apartment were designed according to the specifications of the Peruvian regulations. The space was optimized to provide different apartment options according to the needs of the users.

URBAN LINEAR PARK - ANGOSTURA 03.

GROUP

The urban space of Cusco, Saylla, Angostura is located along the Huatanay river, which is one of the main water sources of the city of Cusco. The area has a long history of being a place of commerce, agriculture, and housing, as well as a natural corridor that connects the city with the surrounding landscape. However, the urban space is currently in a monofunctional and degraded state, with poor infrastructure, environmental pollution, social segregation, and a lack of public amenities. Moreover, it space does not reflect the rich and diverse identity of Cusco.

To address these issues, we propose a design for an urban linear park that aims to transform the urban space into a new model of urban life with multicentralities. The design includes the following objectives:

• To regenerate the urban space by improving the quality and the diversity of the infrastructure, the environment, the services, and the activities.

• To offer the residents and the visitors a serene city, with more proximity, less stress, and quality of life in short distances.

• To give priority to green and public spaces, thus promoting interaction and different social expressions among the users of the urban space.

• To allow the interaction of people with the Huatanay river, as an important resource, possible to recover from the degradation it has experienced in the last 40 years.

WANCHAQ MARKETPLACE 04.

LOCATION: WANCHAQ, CUSCO, PERÚ

SIZE: 10 830 m2

INDIVIDUAL

The Wanchaq Market is a traditional market located in Cusco, Peru. It has been serving as a zonal retail supply center since 1958, offering a variety of products such as fruits, vegetables, meats, flowers, and handicrafts. However, the market’s infrastructure is currently in a decadent state, with poor ventilation, lighting, sanitation, and accessibility. Moreover, the market does not reflect the rich and diverse culture of Cusco. To address these issues, I propose a design for a contemporary architecture market that aims to revitalize the Wanchaq Marketplace and transform it into a vibrant and attractive public space.

These projects demonstrate how market architecture can combine functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability, while also respecting and celebrating the local culture and context. The design proposal for the Wanchaq Market aims to create a new and improved market that can meet the current and future demands of the market users and the city of Cusco; as well as to contribute to the social and economic development of the area.
