PARISH Emmanuel Catholic College located within the Mater Christi Parish, Yangebup.

The Mater Christi Catholic Church and adjacent Mater Christi Primary School are found a short distance to the west of the College. The relative proximity of this centre of our Parish has helped to forge a strong connection with Emmanuel. Mater Christi Parish is a community which offers an environment in which people can encounter God through prayer and liturgy. The Parish reflects our spirit of community where the presence of Jesus in our lives is apparent through friendships which are inclusive of all.

The Catholic celebration of Eucharist is celebrated in the Chapel on Wednesday mornings at 8.15am. This is open to the whole college community, including the parish. The liturgy is prepared by members of different Form groups each week. On special occasions, such as the celebration of college feast day, Emmanuel Day, the whole school gathers for Mass.

In addition, the College attracts enrolling students from a significant number of other surrounding Catholic and non Catholic feeder Primary Schools. These include Hammond Park Catholic Primary School, St. Jerome’s Catholic Primary School in Munster, St. Vincent’s Catholic Primary School in Kwinana, St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School in Canning Vale and Xavier Catholic Primary School in Forrestdale.

Enrolment applications are also received from surrounding government primary schools such as Jandakot, Atwell, Harmony, Success, Beeliar and Aubin Grove.

PASTORAL & CATHOLIC CARE Pastorally, Emmanuel has a very strong reputation for providing care and support for those within our College. We constantly seek to instil and reinforce a strong sense of community through the College’s core values and recognise the vital importance of building strong relationships within a caring and secure environment.

Our strong pastoral care structure is characterised first and foremost by every staff member actively supporting the pastoral framework within our school and from it, a sense of security and belonging.

Christian faith is a precious gift from God and we strive to nurture the faith of students and staff, serving those in need. Through Catholic schools, we seek to foster a Christian mentality in our society, and to encourage young people to contribute more broadly to the development of the kind of world envisaged by Christ. , CHRISTIAN SERVICE LEARNING Year 7 to 9 students search within their own lives and community to complete Christian Service Hours. They look within their home, school, parish and community to assist those around them. Students are required to complete hours, therefore giving back to those around them.

Our Year 10 and 11 Community Service Program, outreaches to nursing homes, schools catering for students with special needs, community groups catering for the needs of the disabled and organisations set up in the local parishes to provide help to the disabled, the sick and elderly. This challenges students to assist those outside their comfortable environment and gain a deeper understanding of social justice. Our Christian faith finds expression in many forms of service both within the school and in the community
