EMMANUEL KINGS FOOTBALL ACADEMY The Australian Football Academy Program at Emmanuel Catholic College aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their football skills, tactics and game play strategies. Similarly, the Program provides players with the opportunity to grow as students within the College community and as young men. The Program is a stepping stone into potential future WAFL/AFL game participation.
Students go through trials and a stringent selection process to be invited to participate in the Program, currently involving Years 8, 9 and 10. The Program is based around a Specialised Physical Education (SPE) class which requires a mixture of practical and theoretical units. There is also a required component that will take place outside of school hours where students are expected to attend an hour session a week, either before or after school. Players within the Program are able to gain a Certificate I in Sport and Recreation and a Level One Coaching Accreditation with an Australian Football focus. This allows our students to gain an education within other football industries.

Players also have access to our brand new Sports and Performing Arts Centre of Excellence along with the conditioning weights room. This allows our players to access strength and conditioning programs that are designed to improve attributes related to football and aid in injury prevention.
EMMANUEL ACES NETBALL ACADEMY The Emmanuel Aces Netball Academy Program aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their Netball skills, tactics and game play strategies. 2017 is the second year for Emmanuel’s Netball Academy, wich is an elective for Year 8 and 9 students. Students go through trials with a stringent selection process to be invited to participate in the Netball Academy Program.
The Program is based around a (SPE) Specialised Physical Education elective class, where there are two nominated periods a week for the girls to do a mixture of practical and theoretical units. There is also a required component that will take place outside of school hours where students are expected to attend an hour session once a week, either before or after school. As part of the Course, the students will complete a Level 1 Coaching and Umpiring Accreditation. This enables students to assist in running clinics for nearby primary schools and junior netball clubs. Here at Emmanuel, we are aiming to create a Netball Academy that matches the quality and reputation of our existing Emmanuel Kings Australian Football Academy. The Program is also in the process of finalising partnerships with local netball clubs in our surrounding areas.
Academy teaching staff frequently attend students’ community club, development or state netball games to observe their performance and provide adequate feedback. All staff are continually participating in Professional Development courses and looking at new ways in which they can improve their coaching.
