Verano: ese periodo de tiempo anhelado durante el resto del año. Podemos definirlo así, aunque tanto anhelo poco tiene de eficaz al final. Ya no vivimos aquella diáspora del comienzo de agosto, y es que le hemos cogido el gusto a la ciudad, y hay gente para todo. Por eso revisamos lo mejor de la capital y las opciones de fuera para que cada uno encuentre el plan que quiera.

Summer. That season people yearn for all year. We can look at it this way, but it’s not like it used to be, as we no longer see the total exodus we used to at the beginning of August. We've taken a liking to summers in the city, when there’s something for everyone. So, we offer a rundown of everything going on in the capital, along with options outside it, so that everybody can find just what they’re looking for.

Es difícil calificar este ciclo de alguna manera. Las cifras son increíbles en una nueva edición de Veranos de la Villa. Durante los meses de julio y agosto 52 actividades salpicarán los 21 distritos de Madrid. Música, danza, teatro o incluso bailes de salón para todos los públicos. El Ayuntamiento ha vigilado que la programación sea asequible a todos con multitud de espectáculos gratuitos y muchos de ellos que oscilan entre los 3 y los 12 euros. The figures from the new edition of Veranos de la Villa are incredible. During the months of July and August there will be 52 activities across Madrid's 21 districts, with music, dance, theater and even ballroom dancing, open to attendees of all ages. Por segundo año consecutivo, el Museo Reina Sofía organiza un ciclo de cine de verano al aire libre, y lo hace de nuevo en un privilegiado espacio: Las terrazas del edificio Nouvel. Para inaugural el curso ferial, los pabellones de IFEMA acogen una nueva edición de los Salones INTERGIFT, BISUTEX y MADRIDJOYA, el gran evento internacional en nuestro país de los sectores de la decoración, el regalo, la bisutería, los complementos de moda y la joyería. El millar de empresas participantes o los 43.000 visitantes de 80 países son cifras que se espera batir este 2016. Se inaugura una nueva imagen basada en el espíritu mediterráneo que aglutina a los tres salones. To kick off convention season, IFEMA's pavilions will host a new edition of the INTERGIFT, BISUTEX and MADRIDJOYA conventions, our country's major international events in the decoration, gifts, costume jewelry, fashion accessories and fine jewelry sectors. This year's edition aims to top the figures of 1,000 participating companies and 43,000 visitors from 80 countries from last year. There will be a new image this time around, based on the Mediterranean spirit and encompassing the three conventions.

SOLE SOLA El teatro es el vehículo sobre el que se articula la historia. Desde siempre. Es la representación de la vida. La explicación de lo que nos toca vivir. Y el teatro se va adaptando a nuestros días. Con nuevos lenguajes, abordando las realidades en las que nos vemos inmersos. Sole Sola es una comedia ácida sobre la imagen que proyectamos en redes sociales, no siempre acorde con nuestra verdadera realidad. Sole es una ‘influencer’ de éxito adorada por sus seguidores. Pero, lejos de lo que pueda aparentar, sus sueños no se han cumplido. Actriz en eterna formación, sin trabajo, sin casa y con la incertidumbre de hacia dónde dirigirse, se plantea qué puede hacer para salir de ese agujero negro, y sobre todo cuenta los cartuchos que le quedan antes de desistir. Quizás debe renunciar a ser lo que siempre quiso ser y optar por una vida más sencilla.

The theater draws upon and reflects history. That's the way it's always been. It is a representation of life. An explanation of what we are fated to deal with during our era. And the theater changes as times do. With new languages, and addressing the new realities we face. Sole Sola is a mordant comedy about the images we project on social networks, not always a faithful reflection of our lives. Sole is a successful "influencer," adored by her followers. But appearances are deceiving, and she is far from having realised her dreams. An eternal actress-in-training, without a job or a home, she doesn´t know where to turn, and wonders what she can do to get out of her black hole, and how many shots she has left before she just gives up. Maybe she should give up on being what she always wanted to, and opt for a simpler life.

Un gran equipo detrás del proyecto La polifacética artista Natalia Mateodirige el espectáculo. El texto pertenece al dramaturgo y guionista Carlos Crespo y lo interpreta la actriz Úrsula Gutiérrez (co-protagonista de Naranjas exprimidas, Nominada al Premio Max como ‘Mejor Espectáculo Revelación 2011). Edu Díaz, co-creador de Amores Minúsculos, uno de los fenómenos teatrales del pasado año, es el productor de este montaje. La obra ahonda en lo que se ve más allá de una pantalla táctil. A través de las redes sociales nos abrimos a un mundo que no vemos. Un mundo artificial que diseñamos a nuestro antojo para mostrar lo que queremos enseñar. Pero estamos jugando con un espejo de doble cara, y cuando apagamos nuestros dispositivos electrónicos el espejo se vuelve opaco pero sigue mostrando una imagen, la nuestra, enfrentándonos a las vicisitudes de nuestro día a día. Una realidad sin tantos ‘likes’. Una realidad gris y anodina la mayor parte de las veces. Una realidad de la que es muy difícil escapar por muy lejos que vayamos. Nuestra verdadera vida siempre nos acompaña.

A great team is behind the project The versatile artist Natalia Mateo directs. The text was penned by playwright and screenwriter Carlos Crespo, and it stars Úrsula Gutiérrez (co-star of Naranjas exprimidas (Squeezed Oranges), nominated for a Max Award for the Best New Show in 2011). Edu Diaz, the co-creator Amores Minúsculos, one of last year's theatrical sensations, is the producer. The play reflects on what is really going on behind our computer screens. Through the social networks we open ourselves to a world we cannot see. We design an artificial world to show others only what we want to. But we are playing with a double-sided mirror, and when we turn off our electronic devices the mirror goes opaque, but still displays an image: ours, facing the challenges of our day-to-day lives. A reality without so many "likes." A gray and dull one, most of the time. A reality that it is very difficult to escape from, no matter how far we go. Our real life is always there with us.

Hasta finales del mes de julio la compañía ha preparado en el Teatro Nuevo Apolo un innovador montaje para contar Carmina Burana desde el punto de vista del flamenco. Una osadía escénica que la compañía que dirige Luciano Ruiz está cumpliendo a la perfección. La cantata escénica de Carl Off, aclamada desde su estreno en el 1937, adquiere nuevos matices gracias a la coreografía y escenografía que ha presentado la compañía. Las escenas son el punto más álgido del montaje. Cantos medievales con la expresión flamenca. Suena a plan perfecto para olvidarnos del calor del verano.

DE CARAVAGGIO A BERNINI *Obras maestras del Seicento italiano en las Colecciones Reales Se podrá visitar hasta el domingo 16 de octubre en las Salas de Exposiciones Temporales del Palacio Real de Madrid. Un interesante y completo recorrido por las distintas escuelas italianas del siglo XVII y su influencia: desde Bolonia a Roma, desde Roma a Nápoles y desde Nápoles a España. Las obras maestras de los más importantes artistas del Seicento Italiano y del Barroco están en las salas Génova de Palacio. Gracias a la importante campaña de restauración emprendida, se ha devuelto toda su calidad a muchas de ellas. Con setenta y dos obras de pintura y escultura, todas ellas pertenecientes a las Colecciones Reales de Patrimonio Nacional, destaca como pieza central el cuadro de Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio “Salomé con la cabeza del Bautista”, posiblemente el mejor lienzo de este artista conservado en España. Los dos escultores más importantes del siglo XVII, Gian Lorenzo Bernini y Alessandro Algardi están presentes también. Junto a sus significativas obras también se pueden contemplar las de otros artistas del momento como: Fisher von Erlach, François Duquesnoy o Foggini. La exposición, comisariada por Gonzalo Redín, se articula en cuatro grandes bloques: De Bolonia a Roma, Lujo Real, De Roma a Nápoles y El esplendor del barroco, grandes palas de altar en la Colección Real, todos ellos únicos e impresionantes.

The exhibition will run until Sunday,16 October at the Temporary Exhibition Rooms of the Royal Palace (Madrid). An interesting and complete look at the various Italian schools of the 17th century and their influence: from Bologna to Rome, from Rome to Naples, and from Naples to Spain. The masterpieces by the most important artists of the Italian Seicento and Baroque can be found in the Palace's Genoa Halls. Thanks to the major restoration campaign undertaken, many of them have been returned to their original condition. With 72 works of painting and sculpture, all belonging to the Royal Collections of Spain’s National Heritage Bureau, of special note is Caravaggio's Salomé with John The Baptist's Head" possibly the finest canvas by this artist found in Spain. The two most important sculptors of the 17th century, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Alessandro Algardi, are also featured. Along with these significant works, visitors will also find others by artists from the period, such as Fisher von Erlach, François Duquesnoy and Foggini. EXPOGROW *algo más que una feria de Cannabis Con esta declaración de principios Expogrow cumple su quinta edición. Una feria que llega a Irún del 16 a 18 de Septiembre y cuyo principal valor diferenciador son los conciertos programados. Un salón profesional donde está presente todo el universo cannábico y donde se unen los otros dos grandes pilares de la programación: el V Foro Internacional y Social, gratuito y de libre acceso, y el Festival de Música para terminar las jornadas bailando al aire libre. Una carpa de siete mil metros cuadrados instalada en la zona exterior acogerá a Biga Ranx, Naive New Beaters, Sara Lugo, Scarecrow y OgunAfrobeat además de los artistas nacionales Muchachito, El Langui y Tomasito. La Pandorga, la fiesta más emblemática de Ciudad Real este año cumple el 30 aniversario de su declaración como Fiesta de Interés Turístico Regional. Desde el 23 de julio los juegos tradiciones como la Petanca, un concurso de Truque o las partidas de Bolos por el día y la poesía musical bajo la luz de la luna por la noche se hacen con la ciudad. Entrado el fin de semana tanto mayores como jóvenes se ponen sus mejores galas para asistir al baile con “limoná” en el Patio del Mercado Municipal, y después dará comienzo el concierto Ciudad Real 40 POP. Los pequeños también tienen su lugar el fin de semana, los juegos infantiles tienen como objetivo que los niños conozcan la riqueza de nuestro folklore. Habrá además una discoteca móvil con DJs y se celebrará el XX Concurso de Limoná “sin”. Estopa es el grupo que se encarga de dar el toque final a la noche con su concierto dentro de la gira “Rumba a lo desconocido”. El Día de la Pandorga, el 31 de julio, el acto de nombramiento del Pandorgo de hogaño, y la proclamación de la Dulcinea y Damas 2016 se llevará a cabo justo antes de la tradición de realizar la “convidá a limoná y puñao” desde el balcón del Centro Cultural Antiguo Casino. Y a las dos de la madrugada se soltarán los toros de fuego desde la calle Palma para terminar estos días de fiesta. This year Ciudad Real celebrates 30 years since La Pandorga, its most celebrated festival, was declared a Festival of Regional Touristic Interest. Starting on July 23, traditional games, such as pétanque, a truque (hopscotch) contest, bowling by day and musical poetry under the moonlight, transform the city. When the weekend comes around both old and young alike don their finery to attend the dance, complete with limoná(a festive lemonade beverage) in the Patio of the Municipal Market, followed by the Ciudad Real 40 POP concert. Weekend plans don't overlook children, with games to designed to expose them to our rich folklore. There will also be a mobile disco, complete with DJs, and the 20th Limoná Contest will be held. And Estopa is the group that has been tapped for the grand finale wrapping things up, with a concert forming part of their Rumba a lo desconocido tour. The day of La Pandorga, 31 July, the ceremony of the naming of the pandorgo de hogaño (a man chosen to represent the local farm laborers), and the proclamation of the 2016 Dulcinea y Damas (honorary ladies) will take place just before the traditional convidá a limoná y puñado (invitation to lemonade and dried chickpeas) from the balcony of the Centro Cultural Antiguo Casino. And at 2 am the “fire bulls” will be released from Palma Street to culminate the holidays.

EL CHIRINGUITO DE PEPE *la cocina de 'Sergi Roca' de la tele al mercado de Aranjuez Estamos en plena época de chiringuitos, un concepto infalible en la costa, y que nos gusta tanto que se ha trasladado a la Comunidad de Madrid. El primero es el más famoso de España, El Chiringuito de Pepe, que llega a Aranjuez y salta de la TV a la realidad. La serie ha traspasado las pantallas y se materializa en un restaurante con la misma estética marinera –redes, salvavidas y remos- y con sus platos más emblemáticos, como el gigante Croquetón o la Ensaladilla Rusa del local que regentaba Pepe Leal. Pero también está presente el toque de Sergi Roca, que abogaba por platos más gourmet. De que ambas vertientes convivan y se hagan realidad se encarga Manu Rubio, el mismo chef que estaba tras los fogones en la serie. Así, la carta cuenta con platos como las Choripapas de Dani, Fish and Chips de Roca, Alcachofas confitadas con cogollos, además de riquísimos arroces por encargo, y para acabar con el postre, por ejemplo, la versión de Sergi del ‘Pijama Party’ o Fresones con nata, obviamente de Aranjuez. El Chiringuito de Pepe tiene una amplísima barra junto a la cocina vista y mesas a modo de ‘terraza’ -aunque bajo techo-, con capacidad para 60 personas. El precio medio es entre 12 y 20 € según sea por raciones o combinados. El horario de apertura es de 10:00 a 00:00 h. La cocina cierra entre semana de 17:00 a 20:00 h. y los fines de semana es non-stop.

It is the season for chiringuitos, the typical beachside eateries dotting Spain's coast. We like the idea so much we decided to take it to the Community of Madrid. The first is Spain's most famous, El Chiringuito Pepe, which comes to Aranjuez, jumping from the TV to reality. The show has emerged from the small screen and come to life at a restaurant with the same marine look - complete with nets, life jackets and oars - and its signature dishes, like the giant croquette and the Russian Salad served up at the place run by Pepe Leal. But Sergi Roca's touch is also present, who pushed for more gourmet dishes. Ensuring that both sides harmoniously converge is Manu Rubio, the same chef at the helm of the kitchen in the show. Thus, the menu features dishes like Choripapas (potato wedges and chorizo) by Dani, Fish and chips by Roca, Candied artichokes with lettuce hearts, plus delicious rice dishes, made to order. Finally, for dessert there is Sergi's version of the "Pyjama Party" or strawberries with cream – with the fruit obviously from Aranjuez. El Chiringuito de Pepe boasts a spacious bar along with an open kitchen, and terrace-style tables – although covered – with a capacity for 60. The average price is from 12 to 20 euros, depending on whether you order dishes or combos. Opening hours are from 10:00 am to midnight. The kitchen is closed from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, except on weekends, when it's non-stop.

1 5 ada verano, a finales de agosto y primera semana de septiembre, la localidad cántabra de Corrales de Buelna vuelve al periodo comprendido entre el año 29 y el 19 A.c., momento en que los cántabros luchaban contra los romanos, quienes buscaban conquistar el territorio. La Asociación Guerras Cántabras (AGUECAN) recuerda todos los años estos hechos. Para la recreación, los participantes en ella se dividen en cántabros y romanos, reproduciendo los diferentes poblados y las diversas legiones. En Corrales de Buelna, durante la celebración, se pueden visitar sus poblados y sus asentamientos romanos. Asimismo, durante el desarrollo del conflicto de las Guerras Cántabras se dieron a conocer diversas personalidades históricas por ambos bandos, como Octavio Augusto, Corocotta, Marco Agrippa. Junto a estos personajes principales, aparecen en las crónicas referencias a Cayo Antistio Vetus (legado romano), diosa Minerva, diosa Cantabria o Antonius Musa (médico personal del emperador). Todos ellos personificados en la celebración.

Each summer at the end of August and the first week of September the Cantabrian town of Corrales de Buelna harks back to 29-19 BC, when the Cantabrians fought against Roman invaders bent onconquering their territory. The Cantabrian Wars Association (AGUECAN) reenacts these events every year, with participants dividing themselves into Cantabrians and Romans to recreate the different villages and legions of the time. During the celebration one can visit Corrales de Buelna and its Roman settlements. A number of historical figures from both sides - such as Octavius Augustus, Corocotta and Marcus Agrippa - distinguished themselves during the conflict. Along with these main characters there appear in the histories references to to Cayo Antistio Vetus (Roman legate), the goddess Minerva, the goddess Cantabria, and Antonius Musa (the emperor's personal physician).
