Se acaba 2014. Ponemos fin a un nuevo ciclo de doce meses en el que si echamos la vista atrás nos parece increíble todo lo que ha pasado fuera, pero especialmente dentro de nuestras páginas.

Ha sido un año emocionante, lleno de experiencias que todo el equipo ha intentado compartir con vosotros, nuestros lectores, de la mejor manera posible, cuidando el detalle para que el viaje a bordo del taxi les supiera a poco.

2014 is winding to an end. As we wrap up another twelvemonth cycle, if we look back we are amazed by all that has happened outside, but especially within our pages.

It has been an exciting year, packed with experiences that the entire team has striven to share with you, our readers, in the best possible way, seeing to the details to lighten up your taxi trips.

Se acerca la época navideña en la capital y uno de los momentos más esperados es el encendido de luces, que este año alumbrarán las calles desde el 27 de noviembre. Otro de los grandes polos de atracción es el famoso mercadillo de la Plaza Mayor lleno de puestos donde comprar figurillas y adornos para decorar los hogares. Además, otros planes en familia que se pueden realizar en Madrid durante estas fechas es visitar las exposiciones de belenes, las pistas de patinaje y los mercados que surgen de manera especial durante estas fechas. The holiday season is approaching in the capital, and one of the most eagerly awaited moments is the lighting of the Christmas decorations, which this year will grace the streets beginning on November 29. Another main attraction is the famous flea market at the Plaza Mayor, with stalls to buy figurines, decorations and ornaments for the home. Other plans for the family that can be enjoyed in Madrid during this period include Nativity scenes, skating rinks, and special Christmas season pop-up markets.

Desde 1964, cada 31 de Diciembre Madrid no falta a su cita con el running.

La San Silvestre vallecana es la prueba más multitudinaria del calendario de carreras populares. Su recorrido de diez kilómetros se organiza en dos salidas diferenciadas: la edición popular (pueden participar los mayores de dieciséis años) y edición internacional en la que no faltan las principales figuras de élite del atletismo a nivel mundial. Como cada año, el Estadio de Vallecas será el objetivo final para la marea de runners.

Every December 31st since 1964 Madrid has hosted this running event. The "San Silvestre Vallecana" draws the largest crowds of any race on the calendar of general public competitions. The 10-km race features two different starts: one for the general public edition (anyone over age 16 can participate), preceded by the international edition, which attracts elite runners from around the world. Like every year, the Estadio de Vallecas (stadium) will be the site of the finish line for the sea of runners.

La Plaza de España acoge un año más la vigésimo séptima edición de la Feria Mercado de Artesanía de la Comunidad de Madrid. El acto de promoción más importante de promoción de la artesanía regional aprovecha el escaparate navideño para dar a conocer a madrileños y visitantes lo más destacado del sector. En esta ocasión participan ciento setenta talleres de toda España que exponen para su venta productos de elaboración artesanal: cerámica, decoración, joyería, juguetería, madera, metal, papel y cartón, piel, textil o vidrio artístico entre otros.

This year the Plaza de España (square) welcomes 27th edition of the Community of Madrid Arts and Crafts Fair/Market. The most important event for the promotion of regional arts and crafts takes advantage of the Christmas showcase to share the sector's most outstanding creations with both locals and visitors. This time around there will be 170 workshops from all over Spain displaying their handmade products: ceramics, decorations, jewelry, toys; and crafts of wood, metal, paper and cardboard, leather, fabrics and glass, among others.

A VUELTAS CON LA VIDA 18 dic-11 ene.

BEATRIZ CARVAJAL *Mari Carmen se salva cuando coge un libro Con A vueltas con la vida, la célebre actriz se atreve con un monólogo que viaja de la oscuridad a la luz. Versátil, elegante, divertida, profunda, dulce... son solo algunos de los numerosos adjetivos que describen a una de nuestras más grandes actrices. Con casi medio siglo sobre los escenarios, la Carvajal vuelve a demostrar su talento con una apuesta complicada pero de una belleza y complejidad fuera de serie. ¿Quién es esta Mª Carmen que interpretas?

Mª Carmen es una mujer sencilla, trabaja como asistenta y es una mujer maltratada, que a través de la lectura aprende a quererse, a respetarse, a luchar y a ser libre.

Por lo que podemos intuir, Mª Carmen representa a muchas mujeres en el mundo. ¿Da vértigo interpretar a alguien así?

Sí, porque tienes la responsabilidad de mostrar en el escenario la realidad de tantas mujeres, por desgracia. Lo que pasa es que también es un personaje que da esperanza, da futuro porque muestra que se puede salir de las cosas si eres valiente y si se tiene la fuerza de denunciar y de plantearse la vida de otra manera.

El texto de Juan Luis Iborra y Antonio Albert resulta un gran viaje emocional de la sombra a la luz. ¿Cómo te sentiste cuando pusieron el libreto en tus manos?

Es un planteamiento muy dramático pero lleno de humor que me atrapó… yo siempre he dicho que el humor es darle la vuelta a lo que te duele para poder soportarlo. Cuando me llamaron y me dijeron que era un monólogo, lo primero que hice fue decirles que no, que yo era muy mayor (risas). Bueno, pues lo leí y me enamoré, es un texto muy interesante a todos los niveles, para una actriz es un reto y me interesó todo lo que contaba y cómo lo contaba.

Al final y pese al duro camino, la obra va de lo que va la vida, de superación, de la búsqueda de la libertad para encontrar la felicidad. ¿Crees que la Cultura nos hace libres? ¡Sin duda! No sé cómo este gobierno nos está ahogando tanto cuando la Cultura es la base. Hay que comer y vivir decentemente, claro, pero con Cultura todo es mejor, todo es más posible y aquí estamos, ahogándonos. Por eso me gusta mucho el planteamiento de Iborra y de Albert de que Mª Carmen se salva cuando coge un libro. IreneL.Navarro

In A vueltas con la vida, the celebrated actress dares to perform a monologue, spanning from darkness to light. Versatile, elegant, fun, deep, sweet... these are some of the many adjectives that describe one of our greatest actresses. With a stage career spanning almost 50 years, Beatriz Carvajal once again demonstrates her talent with a complicated work that is, nevertheless, one of extraordinary beauty.

Who is this Mari Carmen that you play?

Mari Carmen is a simple woman. She works as a maid, and is a battered wife. Through reading she learns to love herself, respect herself, struggle and set herself free.

From what we can gather, Mari Carmen represents many women in the world. Is it daunting to play a role like that?

Yes, because you have a responsibility to portray on stage what is, unfortunately, a reality for many women. And yet, she is also a character who gives one hope for the future, because she shows that you can overcome things if you are brave, if you speak out and face life in another way.

The script, by Juan Luis Iborra and Antonio Albert, is a great emotional journey from the darkness into the light. How did you feel when they placed it in your hands?

It is a very dramatic text, but one full of humor that won me over... I’ve always have said that humor is about giving pain a twist, so you can bear it.

When they called me and told me that it was a monologue, my first answer was 'no,' that I was too old for that (laughter). Then, well, I read it and I fell in love with it. It is a very interesting work at every level. For an actress it is a challenge, and I was interested in everything it addresses, and how it addresses it.

In the end, and in spite of what is a tough road, the work is about what life is about: overcoming obstacles, the search for freedom, to find happiness. Do you believe that Culture sets us free?

Absolutely! I don't understand why this government is smothering us, when Culture is the foundation. One has got to eat and live decently, but with Culture everything is better, everything is more promising, and here we are, drowning. That's why I like Iborra and Albert's claim that Mari Carmen saves herself when she grabs a book.

El inicio es sencillo a la vez que conocido para muchos: un hombre que se acerca a una sucursal bancaria para tratar de conseguir un pequeño préstamo que le permita seguir con su vida. Un aval o propiedad ya suponen el primer escollo. A partir de la negativa del director se desencadena una situación tristemente conocida para muchos. Un momento de presión en el que los nervios pueden llegar a provocar situaciones inesperadas. Carcajadas, reflexión y emoción se mezclan en este montaje que ha conseguido el reconocimiento a partes iguales de crítica y público.

Gerardo Vera en la dirección y dos excelentes actores, Luis Merlo y Carlos Hipólito se encargan del resto para brindar a los espectadores la oportunidad de revivir una situación desgraciadamente actual: las malas prácticas bancarias.

The beginning is simple and a familiar scenario: a man shows up at a bank to ask for a small loan that will allow him to survive. Collateral or a property are the first stumbling blocks. The manager's refusal gives rise to a situation that is, unfortunately, familiar for many: a moment of pressure when racked nerves can trigger unexpected situations. Laughter, reflection and emotion come together in this work, praised by critics and audiences alike.

Gerald Vera directs and two excellent actors, Luis Merlo and Carlos Hipólito, take care of the rest in this depiction of what is an all-too-timely situation: bad banking practices.

Madrid's sassiest cabaret show returns. UN OBÚS EN EL CORAZÓN *la emoción de Hovik Keuchkerian Este texto de Wadji Mouawad y dirigido por Santiago Sánchez (Imprebís) supone la primera oportunidad de ver al cómico Hovik Keuchkerian sobre el escenario interpretando un papel dramático.

Un obús en el corazón es un monólogo donde Wahab narra su historia, en una noche de invierno, cuando recibe una llamada de teléfono: “ven”. Wahab sale. Una ciudad extraña. El frío le hiela las pestañas. Recuerda el calor de su país. Su madre está a punto de morir. Pero quizás, para Wahab, su madre murió cuando tuvo que abandonar su país, su calor, el día que olvidó la forma del rostro de su madre... el día que un obús perforó su corazón.

Keuchkerian llega a este montaje, tras su éxito como cómico, y como actor de cine en Alacrán Enamorado, película que le valió el Premio a Mejor Actor Revelación por la Unión de actores, y las nominaciones a los Premios Goya y a los Premios del Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos.

A Howitzer to the Heart is the monologue in which Wahab tells his story. On a winter night he receives a telephone call: “come.” Wahab goes out. A strange city. The cold freezes his eyelashes. He remembers his country's heat. His mother is on the verge of death. But perhaps, for Wahab, his mother died when he had to leave his country, its heat, the day that he forgot her face… the day that a shell ripped through his heart.

Keuchkerian presents this show after his success as a comedian, and as an actor in Alacrán Enamorado, a film that earned him a Best New Actor award from the actors union, and nominations for the Goya Awards and the Circle of Cinematographic Writers Awards.

Tabacalera Espacio Promoción del Arte hosts "Las puertas de Uaset," an exhibition featuring a crosssectional approach to the art which José Manuel Ciria (Manchester, 1960) has produced over the course of his career. Regularly defined as the author of a personal synthesis between abstraction's two powerful lines, the gestural and geometric, this exhibition presents a wider-ranging analysis organized around the his work's formal and conceptual elaboration process.

“The Doors of Waset” is structured into two great sections: the first features a selection of works produced between 1992 and today in which the artist reflects on the relationship between his work's theoretical discourse and material production. Geometric compartmentation, controlled chance techniques, formats and registers are pushed to their limits in their multiple possible combinations.

The second area is made up of works in his most recent series, London Boxes, which consolidates many of his explorations from his time in New York (2005-2013). The recovery of lines as a compositive structure, interstices that separate abstraction and figuration, and semantic variations from the matrix are some of the key features of a body of work that is strange, composite, and difficult to categorize.

The ancient city of Uaset, well-known by the Greeks as Thebes, today found in what is Luxor, was dubbed

by Homer as “the city of the 100 doors.” A panoramic look at the production of José Manuel Ciria offers an intricate network of ideas, concepts and formulations that overlap, disappear and return, to be structured through the series.

Tabacalera Espacio Promoción del Arte acoge Las puertas de Uaset, exposición que plantea una lectura transversal de la producción que el artista José Manuel Ciria (Manchester, 1960) ha elaborado a lo largo de su trayectoria. Definido habitualmente como autor de una personal síntesis entre las dos líneas de fuerza de la abstracción –la gestual y la geométrica–, en esta muestra se desarrolla un análisis de mayor alcance que se organiza en torno al proceso de elaboración conceptual y formal de su trabajo.

“Las puertas de Uaset” está estructurada en dos grandes ámbitos: el primero acoge una selección de obras, llevadas a cabo entre 1992 y la actualidad, donde el artista reflexiona acerca de la relación entre el discurso teórico y la producción material de la obra.

La compartimentación geométrica, las técnicas de azar controlado, los soportes y los registros iconográficos son puestos al límite en sus múltiples posibilidades combinatorias.

El segundo ámbito está integrado por obras de la serie más reciente, London Boxes, donde se consolidan muchas de sus investigaciones llevadas a cabo durante su estancia en Nueva York (2005-2013). La recuperación de la línea como estructura compositiva, los intersticios que separan abstracción y figuración o las variaciones semánticas de la matriz son algunas de las claves de una obra extraña, híbrida y de difícil catalogación.

La antigua ciudad de Uaset, conocida por los griegos como Tebas y que hoy reposa bajo Luxor, fue bautizada por Homero como la ciudad de las 100 puertas. Una mirada panorámica a la producción de José Manuel Ciria ofrece una intrincada red de ideas, conceptos y formulaciones que se encabalgan, desaparecen o recuperan para estructurarse a través de series.

Estar alejado por unos kilómetros hacia el norte del último vértice del Triángulo del Arte siempre ha sido un reto para el Centro de Exposiciones Arte Canal. Un año más nos vuelve a sorprender.

Itinerario de Hernán Cortés es un viaje conformado por más de 400 piezas que nos permitirá descubrir la historia de la figura o la naturaleza del descubridor. La primera exposición sobre su figura.

Canal de Isabel II Gestión, embarcándose en un proyecto de producción propia y a gran escala, en colaboración con la Real Academia de la Historia y el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia de México, ha reunido un valioso y variopinto material de ambos lados del Atlántico para mostrar las peripecias de Hernán Cortés y el encuentro entre culturas en su búsqueda de nuevos horizontes. Being located a few kilometers north of Madrid's famed "Art Triangle" always has been a challenge for the Canal Art Exhibitions Center. This year the facility surprises us once again: the Hernán Cortés route is a journey through over 400 pieces revealing the discoverer's life and character, in what is the first exhibition of its kind on Cortés.

Canal de Isabel II Gestión, embarking on a project involving large-scale internal production, in collaboration with the Royal Academy of History and Mexico's National Anthropology and History Institute, has amassed a series of valuable and wide-ranging materials from both sides of the Atlantic illustrating the adventures of Hernán Cortés and the cultural convergence triggered by his quest for new horizons. The over 400 pieces have been arranged in a suggestive and enthralling exhibition format that allows the general public access them via an epic-style narrative, including adventure novel elements, but without sacrificing

un tesoro en las crónicas del momento —las propias Cartas de Relación de Cortés o la Historia verdadera de la conquista de la Nueva España, de Bernal Díaz del Castillo— que invitan a mirar este episodio desde todos sus ángulos.

Embarcarse en un viaje de larga duración y que sucedió hace varios siglos requiere de un especial cuidado a la hora de comenzar su narración. Por eso el recorrido se ha trazado de forma lineal y muy intuitiva. Todo el recorrido se ha envuelto de un “camino sonoro” cuyo objetivo ha sido el de crear una atmósfera facilitadora de la inmersión en los acontecimientos históricos que se muestran y las experiencias sensoriales con las que el visitante se encuentra.

La muestra se vertebra en siete zonas distintas. Martín Almagro-Gorbea como comisario científico y coordinador general de la exposición, y Cristina Esteras como experta en historia del arte hispanoamericano, han creado un argumento sugerente y cautivador en torno a las distintas piezas que componen la exposición.

one bit of their status as authentic archaeological and artistic artifacts. The era's chronicles constitute a true treasure trove: Cortés's own Letters and the "True History of the Conquest of New Spain," by Bernal Díaz del Castillo, prompt one to examine this episode from every angle.

Embarking on a long journey that took place several centuries ago calls for great care when undertaking the account.

Thus, the route was traced in a linear and very intuitive way. The entire exhibit features a soundtrack, or “sound path,” designed to generate an atmosphere immersing one in the historical events shown and providing him with a more complete sensorial experience.

The exhibit is structured into seven different areas. Martín Almagro-Gorbea, its scientific curator and general coordinator, and Cristina Esteras, its expert on the history of Hispano-American art, have created anevocative and captivating storyline built around the different pieces making up the exhibition.

Nadie duda de su valor arqueológico, pero el montaje les aporta una dosis de épica necesaria para acercarnos a la figura del descubridor.

Desde el seis de diciembre tenemos una ocasión única para conocer de forma global la figura de un extremeño, Medellín (1485) que vivió en el salto de la España Feudal hacia la Edad Moderna. En una nueva España Monárquica su contribución es de peso capital en el paso de los siglos: nada menos que el Descubrimiento de Nuevos Mundos.

More than 47 Spanish and International institutions have contributed to the project, making it possible for Madrid to display these genuine historical treasures for the first time. Nobody doubts their archaeological value, but the exhibition furnishes them with an epic approach vital to fully transmitting the discoverer's story.

Starting on 6 December the publichas a unique chance to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the Extremaduran from Medellín (1485) who lived during Spain's crossover from a feudal society into the Modern Era. The contributions of the fledgling Monarchical Spain in the impending centuries would be crucial, including nothing less than the discovery of new worlds.

EL RETRATO EN LAS COLECCIONES REALES *de Juan de Flandes a Antonio López La exposición ofrece una visión general del retrato de corte en España, tanto en tiempos de la Casa de Austria como de la Casa de Borbón, desde el siglo XV al XXI, trazando un recorrido por la evolución de la imagen de los monarcas en ese largo medio milenio. Un itinerario jalonado por obras maestras de la pintura y del género del retrato, con los mejores ejemplos conservados en las colecciones de Patrimonio Nacional, que se exponen en doce salas de la planta baja del Palacio Real de Madrid, con el acompañamiento de algunas esculturas, pequeños bronces, varios dibujos y grabados, y un par de tapices-retrato.

La exposición se estructura en dos grandes secciones, Casa de Austria y Casa de Borbón, con diferentes apartados que siguen un orden cronológico por reinados.

La primera sección abre con los inicios de la dinastía habsbúrgica en España, mostrando como antecedentes retratos fundamentales de sus antepasados, el Retrato del duque de Felipe el Bueno del taller de Rogier Van der Weyden (de la Casa de Borgoña) y la imagen más fidedigna de la reina Isabel la Católica de Juan de Flandes (de la Casa de los Trastámara).

The exhibition offers an overview of the court portrait Spain, during the days of the House of Austria and the House of Bourbon, from the 15th to the 21st century, tracing the evolution of images of the monarchs during that long millennium. A visit packed with masterpieces of the portrait genre, with the best works forming part of the National Heritage collections, exhibited in 12 rooms on the ground floor of the Royal Palace in Madrid, accompanied by some sculptures, small bronzes, several drawings and engravings, and a couple of tapestries/portraits.

The exhibition is structured into major sections: the House of Austria and the House of Bourbon, with different subsections that follow a chronological order, by reign.

The first section opens with the beginnings of the Habsburg Dynasty in Spain, presenting as background material essential portraits of their ancestors, with a Portrait of Duke Philip the Good, from the studio of Rogier Van der Weyden (of the House of Burgundy), and the most accurate image of Queen Isabella the Catholic by Juan de Flandes (of the House of Trastámara).

A los grandes retratos oficiales de Carlos V de Jakob Seisenegger y de Felipe II en versión pictórica de Antonio Moro y escultórica de Pompeo Leoni, se une una importantísima muestra de retratos familiares por los pintores más famosos de la corte española de los siglos XVI y principios del siglo XVII, como Alonso Sánchez Coello, Joris Van der Straeten, Juan Pantoja de la Cruz, Bartolomé González o Rodrigo de Villandrando, así como de otras cortes europeas, como Frans Pourbus el Joven o Marcin Kover.

Along with great official portraits of Charles V by Jakob Seisenegger and a pictorial version of Philip II by Antonio Moro, in sculpture by Pompeo Leoni, there is a very important collection of family portraits by the most famous painters of the Spanish Court during the 16th and 17th centuries, such as Alonso Sánchez Coello, Joris Van der Straeten, Juan Pantoja de la Cruz, Bartolomé González and Rodrigo de Villandrando, as well as artists from other European courts, like Frans Pourbus the Younger (Netherlands) and Martin Kober (Poland).

IGLESIAS DE MADRID *tesoros en templos de la capital Iglesias de Madrid es el último libro de Carlos Osorio en el que presenta un amplio repertorio de las iglesias más destacadas de esta ciudad. Es cierto que Madrid no tiene grandes catedrales del medievo como otras capitales europeas pero gozan de un alto valor arquitectónico y artístico. La pretensión del autor es ayudarnos a conocer nuestros templos mediante un lenguaje accesible, ameno y didáctico. Iglesias de Madrid (Churches of Madrid) is the latest book by Carlos Osorio, featuring a broad selection of the city's most outstanding churches. It is true that Madrid does not have great medieval cathedrals like other European capitals do, but its churches are of great architectonic and artistic value. The author's aim is to teach us more about our houses of worship, through language that is didactic but accessible and enjoyable at the same time. Not only are their artistic treasures described (with reference to their architecture, sculpture and paintings), but also their most deeply rooted devotions, rites and traditions. The work offers us stories and anecdotes that reveal to us the structures and contents of these temples, as if we were beating treated to a pleasant guided visit. The merit, in this regard, goes to Álvaro Benítez, the photographer who took these shots and gave us these stunning images.

MADRID HORSE WEEK *éxito total en su segunda edición Madrid Horse Week ha cerrado su segunda edición con un gran éxito de público y de participación española. La acogida de los madrileños ha estado muy por encima de las mejores perspectivas de la organización. Más de 40.000 personas disfrutaron de los distintos eventos que se celebraron en el mayor evento ecuestre multidisciplinar de España.

Madrid ha acogido por primera vez una Copa del Mundo de Salto y lo ha hecho con gran éxito. El Gran Premio Longines FEI World CupTM Jumping “Trofeo Mutua Madrileña”. La Kür Gran Premio “Trofeo AON” clausuraba la competición deportiva de esta edición de MHW. Beatriz Ferrer-Salat y “Sir Radjah” conseguían el triunfo de la prueba más importante del CDI3*, primer concurso internacional de doma indoor disputado en España. Pero no todo ha sido competición en los pabellones 6, 8 y 10 de Ifema. Lorenzo y los caballos de la Camarga consiguieron que Madrid cayese rendida a sus pies. El francés puso en pie las repletas gradas de la pista principal de Ifema, mostrando el dominio y la compenetración que tiene con sus caballos, emocionando al público con sus actuaciones.

Esta edición guardó espacio para algunos momentos muy emotivos. La española Morgan Barbançon recibía un premio por su destacada actuación en los Juegos Ecuestres Mundiales de Normandía. Los hermanos Raimondo y Piero D’Inzeo, los llamados “hermanos invencibles” de la equitación militar italiana fallecidos este último año recibieron un merecido homenaje minutos antes del arranque de la Copa del Mundo. Ambos participaron en ocho Olimpiadas de manera consecutiva.

También se quiso homenajear a Luis Álvarez Cervera con el Premio Madrid Horse Week por su trayectoria en el mundo de la hípica española. Será un año muy largo hasta la celebración de la próxima edición. Esperamos que en 2015 se superen nuevos records.

Madrid Horse Week has wrapped up its second edition, its Spanish participation and public turnout making it a great success. Madrid's response far surpassed the organizers' rosiest forecasts, with more than 40,000 people enjoying the different events held in Spain's largest multidisciplinary equestrian event.

For the first time Madrid hosted a World Show Jumping Championship, and with great success:the Longines FEI World Cup Mutua Madrileña Trophy. The Kür Gran Prix AON Trophy wrapped up the competition at this edition of MHW. Beatriz Ferrer-Salat and “Sir Radjah” triumphed at the CDI3's most important event, the first international indoor dressage competition held in Spain. But it wasn´t all about competitions at IFEMA's Pavilions 6, 8 and 10. Lorenzo and his horses from The Camargue dazzled Madrilenians, as the Frenchman brought spectators to their feet at IFEMA's main venue, displaying his mastery of and mutual understanding with his horses, thrilling the public with his performances.

This edition featured some very touching moments.

Spain's Morgan Barbançon received a prize for her outstanding performance at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy. Brothers Raimondo and Piero D' Inzeo, dubbed the “invincible brothers” of Italian military horseback riding, who passed away this last year, received a well-deserved tribute minutes before the start of the World Cup. Both participated in eight consecutive Olympic Games. There was also a tribute to Luis Álvarez Cervera, who received the Madrid Horse Week Prize for his career achievements in the Spanish equestrian world.

It will be a very long year until the celebration of the next edition. We hope that in 2015 new records will be set.

En plena plaza de Vázquez de Mella, la Cabaña de la Reina se presenta como alternativa para revivir el clásico film Doctor Zhivago. Sus pieles, sus suaves mantas de lana en la parte exterior de la terraza, sus sillas cubiertas de pelo, sus potentes estufas, bebidas “hot” y platos reconfortantes harán el resto.

A destacar el “Bull Shot”, un coctel nuevo con denominación propia, creado por los bar tenders de la Cabaña de la Reina cuyo ingrediente principal es el caldo de toro. el 19 al 22 de febrero, la ciudad de Teruel se convierte en una auténtica villa medieval repleta de puestos artesanos y haymas para conmemorar la historia de Los Amantes de Teruel. En el siglo XIII, dos jóvenes de Teruel llamados Isabel de Segura y Diego de Marcilla se aman desde niños, pero al no disponer él de herencia, su enlace parece imposible. Diego consigue un plazo de cinco años, para hacer fortuna en la guerra, pero a su vuelta, Isabel está casada con Pedro de Azagra. Isabel había accedido a casarse tras el falso anuncio de la muerte de Diego. El amante acude al encuentro con Isabel, quiere pedirle un beso antes de marchar, pero ésta se lo niega por pertenenecer a otro hombre. Diego no puede soportarlo y cae muerto. Al día siguiente en el funeral, Isabel de Segura está ahí para dar a su amado el beso que anteriormente le negó.

En ese instante ella también cae fulminada. La tradición cuenta que ambos murieron por amor, por eso fueron enterrados juntos y así han permanecido hasta hoy.

From 19 - 22 February the city of Teruel transforms into a genuine medieval villa, with craftsmen setting up stands and tents to commemorate the legend of the "lovers of Teruel." In the 13th century there were two young people from Teruel, Isabel de Segura and Diego de Marcilla, who had loved each other ever since childhood, but his lack of any inheritance seemed to render their union impossible. Diego was granted five years in which to earn his fortune, at war, but when he returned Isabel had married Pedro de Azagra, agreeing to do so only after receiving erroneous news of Diego's demise. Her suitor went to Isabel and asked her for a kiss before departing, which she denied him, as she then belonged to another man. Unable to endure this, Diego dropped dead. On the following day, at his funeral, Isabel de Segura showed up to give her beloved the kiss that she had deprived him of, and at that instant she too dropped dead. Legend has it that they both died of broken hearts, so they were buried together and have remained so until today.

En febrero, toda la población y los cerca de cien mil visitantes, que triplican su número, inundan las calles de Teruel rigurosamente ataviados con vestimentas del siglo XIII. Por las plazas y calles, unos cuatrocientos participantes representan la historia casi a tiempo real. Durante estos días la capital turolense se llena de conciertos, animación, teatro y multitud de actividades para todas las edades que han convertido a Las Bodas de Isabel en un gran atractivo turístico.

In February the entire city, along with nearly 100,000 visitors, triple the local population, flood the festooned streets of Teruel, clad in 13th-century garb. In the squares and streets some 400 re-enactors perform the story, almost in real time. During these days the capital of Teruel bubbles with concerts, performances, theatre and a whole series of happenings for all ages, turning "The Weddings of Isabel" into a major tourist attraction.

Los científicos han descubierto que la Nicotiana Tabacum, comúnmente conocida como planta de Tabaco, contiene un compuesto que hasta ahora era desconocido y había pasado desapercibido a todo análisis. Este compuesto no es otro que el rencor. Profundos análisis a la planta muestran una presencia significativa de rencor en todas las muestras rastreadas. La hipótesis que actualmente define este hecho es que, originariamente comenzó como una respuesta inmune de la planta a la reacción de celos provocada por el valor que dio el ser humano a plantas como la Chamaemelum nobile, comúnmente conocida como manzanilla, o sus hermanas dicotiledóneas como la Corylus Avellana, la Papaver Somniferum, comúnmente conocida como amapola. Esta respuesta inmune de celos provocó, como era de esperar ante la circunstancia de su nulo valor para el ser humano –no como las plantas objeto de celos– que desarrollara dicho rencor, que fue aumentando hasta resultar tóxico. Hecho que desgraciadamente coincidió con un ser humano de dudosa completa evolución que encontró una extraña utilidad para la Nicotiana Tabacum. Pese a ser finalmente útil y cumplir el anhelado deseo insatisfecho que la dominaba, la planta del Tabaco encontró una enfermiza utilidad para el ser humano, con la que sin duda disfruta, acabar con la vida de este.
