Like every summer since 2006, this month Taxi Magazine spotlights one of our coasts. The simple blend of sea breezes and beaches is always a major draw for these days of rest. Our summer double covers some of the top destinations for the country’s now imminent vacation dates.

Esta muestra descubre las interesantes huellas que esa rica fase dejó en España así como libros, documentos y preciados objetos de laca japonesa. Todos ellos expuestos por primera vez tras ser guardados durante siglos en monasterios, capillas e iglesias de toda España. In celebration of the fourth centennial of trade relations between Europe and Japan the National Museum of Decorative Arts hosts this exhibition exposing the public to that first encounter in the stage known as the Nanban Period. This exhibit features the interesting legacy which the rich period left in Spain, as well as books, documents and precious objects of Japanese lacquerwork. All of them on display for the first time after being held for centuries in monasteries, chapels and churches throughout Spain. El Ayuntamiento de Madrid ofrece durante los meses de julio y agosto una programación de conciertos y espectáculos en diversos espacios culturales de Madrid. En esta ocasión el teatro Circo Price, los Jardines de Sabatini y el Matadero son las sedes principales donde asistir a conciertos de artistas nacionales como Paloma San Basilio, Diego el Cigala, Estrella Morente o Vanesa Martin y también internacionales como Earth Wind and Fire. Las representaciones temáticas con presencia de música clásica, el bolero, el cine o el teatro son otro de los platos fuertes de esta edición. In July and August the City of Madrid offers a lineup of concerts and shows at various cultural venues around the city. On this occasion the Teatro Circo Price, the Sabatini Gardens, and El Matadero are the main venues where for concerts by Spanish performers like Paloma San Basilio, Diego El Cigala, Estrella Morente and Vanesa Martin, along with international acts like Earth Wind and Fire. Pissarro, figura fundamental del impresionismo y al mismo tiempo la menos reconocida de ese movimiento aterriza por primera vez en España con una retrospectiva en el Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. Con una carrera eclipsada por el inmenso éxito de su amigo Monet, la exposición se centra en el género paisajístico, tanto rural como urbano, dominante en toda la producción del pintor. La muestra, que presenta setenta y nueve óleos, se articula cronológicamente en función de los lugares donde residió y que inspiraron su pintura, como Louveciennes, Pontoise y Éragny. Pissarro, an essential Impressionist artist and yet, at the same time, the least recognized of those leading the movement, comes to Spain for the first time with a retrospective at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. His career overshadowed by the immense success of his friend Monet, the exhibition focuses on landscapes, both rural and urban, as the dominant genre in the painter's body of work. The exhibition, made up of 79 oil paintings, is chronologically organized according to the places where he lived and which inspired his painting, such as Louveciennes, Pontoise and Eragny.

Una cita en la capital que convierte al Teatro Compac Gran Vía, el Pequeño Teatro Gran Vía y Teatro Galileo en improvisados tablaos flamencos donde disfrutar de este estilo que es ya patrimonio universal. Además, el público puede asistir a los cursos de baile flamenco que se celebran durante el festival y que incluyen en algunos casos entradas para las funciones. During the month of August Madrid becomes the world capital of flamenco song, clapping and dance thanks to this festival featuring a series of high quality flamenco shows. 70 artists and more than 30 shows, poised to attracts all lovers of this art. A capital event that converts the Teatro Compac Gran Vía, Pequeño Teatro Gran Vía and Teatro Galileo into makeshift flamenco tablaos to enjoy this musical genre, already a heritage treasure belonging to the whole world. The public can also attend flamenco dance courses held during the festival, which in some cases include tickets to the shows.

Bringing this project of hers to Madrid attests to her fine work with her previous shows, such as Les Miserables, with which she toured all of Andalusia; Lorquianos, an original tribute to Lorca; and Y sin embargo, a performance against gender violence created by the four actors appearing in it; Todos somos compañeros, by Jaime de Armiñán; and Boabdil, a special and totally new production which has been performed in different cities throughout Spain, winning 11 of the 17 awards given out at the 2010 CATMA Musical Theater Awards in Seville.
La historia más allá del terror En esta espléndida producción abordan uno de los grandes iconos del terror y el misterio como es Frankenstein. Mucho se ha hablado de este personaje pero en muy pocas ocasiones se ha profundizado sobre su historia. No estamos ante el relato de un terror simple, no es la caricatura de un monstruo. Es, a muchos niveles, un retrato de la propia humanidad que en esta ocasión nos permitirá reflexionar sobre muchos de los aspectos, tanto positivos como negativos, que esta figura representa de cualquier ser humano. El montaje mezcla lo gótico con lo puramente filosófico, en un marco musical de tintes clásicos, a veces dulces, a veces sobrecogedores. El espectador no abandonará en ningún momento una tensión que parte de la identificación con lo más puramente emocional de las historias que ocurren a cada uno de los personajes. La adaptación ha corrido a cargo de Myriam Carrascosa, quien también se pone al frente de la dirección artística, y la música original es de Santiago Martín que firma asimismo la dirección musical. Carrascosa y Martín comenzaron a trabajar en la creación de este musical ya hace casi tres años y lo estrenó en Andalucía en el 2012. Desde entonces se ha representado en diferentes localidades con gran éxito. Y es que estamos ante una gran producción con más de 40 personas en escena, un vestuario hiperrealista y perfectamente fiel a la época que contrasta con una escenografía simplista y alegórica y un fantástico libreto que nos invita a un inolvidable viaje literario-musical.
The story, beyond terror This splendid production features one of the great horror and mysteryicons: Frankenstein. Much has been said of this character, but very rarely has the history behind him been more deeply explored. We are not dealing here with a simple horror story, nor the caricature of a monster. It is, on many levels, a portrait of humanity itself that this time will allow us to reflect on many aspects, both positive and negative, which this figure represents for all humanity. The production blends Gothic and purely philosophical elements in a musical framework with styles that are, by turns classical, sweet, and sometimes eerie. Audience members are left on the edge of their seats by their identification with the most purely emotional aspects of the stories in which each of the characters are involved. The adaptation is the work of Myriam Carrascosa, who is also in charge of the artistic direction, with original music and musical direction by Santiago Martin. Carrascosa and Martin began working on the creation of this musical almost three years ago, premiering it in Andalusia in 2012. Since then it has been very successfully performed in a number of different locations. This is a major production featuring more than 40 people on stage, with a hyper-realistic wardrobe perfectly true to the era, contrasting with the show's starkly simple staging, its allegorical approach, and a fantastic script which invites us on an unforgettable literary-musical journey.

La idea de Pagagnini surgió hace unos 7 años cuando conocí a Yllana y queríamos montar un espectáculo en el que mezcláramos la música clásica con el humor gestual. Además, a mí la interpretación me permite estar más relajado y con más posibilidad de movimiento. Me siento más libre y eso afecta al rendimiento musical. ¿Qué resultado encontramos al mezclar la música clásica con momentos de humor y locura? La idea general es que la música clásica es algo serio, y es difícil que uno se pueda plantear mezclarla con el humor. Este espectáculo es una prueba de que sí se puede, y así lo ha demostrado la buena acogida que ha tenido. Las cosas más bonitas del mundo son la risa y la música... Te produce tal explosión de emociones que te hace la vida más feliz. ¿Es una fórmula de acercar al público la música clásica? Es una de las múltiples fórmulas que puede haber para acercar al público la música clásica. La música es algo tan grande, que llega a las personas por sí sola y no hace falta añadirle nada más. Coproduced by Ara Malikian and Yllana, Pagagnini combines humor and music in a concert featuring a series of classical masterpieces fused with other styles and played by four great musicians, led by musical director Ara Malikian. Ara, how did the idea of Pagagnini come about? The idea for Pagagnini arose about 7 years ago when I met Yllana and we wanted to come up with a show that would fuse classical music with gesture-based humor to add a touch of fun and joy to what was otherwise an orthodox classical music concert. The performance allows me to be more relaxed and able to move. I feel freer, and that affects the musical result. What do we get when we mix classical music with moments of humor and silliness? The general assumption out there is that classical music is something serious and that it is difficult for one to mix it with humor. This show is proof that it can be done, as the show's warm welcome has shown. Audiencesdon’t usually have so many prejudices. The most beautiful things in the world are laughter and music... they give you such an explosion of emotions that ultimately they make your life happier. Is it a way to expose audiences to classical music? It is one of the many ways to bring classical music to the public. I am of the opinion that music is something so great that it touches people all by itself and doesn't need anything else. We offer this kind of show, but it easily be another type too.

FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE TEATRO CLÁSICO DE MÉRIDA *obras grecolatinas sobre el Teatro Romano La ciudad extremeña recuerda la huella de un pasado histórico de la mano de uno de los festivales de teatro más importantes de la geografía española. Año tras año las tragedias y comedias de Eurípides, Plauto, Aristófanes, Apuleyo y de otros clásicos vuelven a tomar cuerpo a través de sus imperecederos personajes en un entorno inigualable. El Teatro Romano pone en marcha siete grandes espectáculos, uno más que el año pasado y cinco de ellos son estreno absoluto aquí. De nuevo, Mérida se convierte en el epicentro del teatro clásico grecolatino añadiendo además un calendario paralelo englobado en la Programación Off, con talleres, pasacalles, proyecciones de películas, pequeñas representaciones y conferencias que acercan el conocimiento de esta cultura al público. El Ballet Nacional de España y la Orquesta de Extremadura inauguran con la reposición de Medea. The Extremadura town evokes the legacy of its past with of one of the most important theater festivals in Spain. Year after year the tragedies and comedies of Euripides, Plautus, Aristophanes, Apuleyo and others are performed, their timeless characters coming alive in a unique setting. The Roman Theatre is the venue for seven great shows, one more than last year, five of them making their world premieres here. Al otro extremo de la Comunitat Valenciana, en la zona más septentrional, se encuentra el Parque Natural de la Sierra de Irta y Reserva Natural Marina de Irta.

En las dos últimas décadas se han habilitado nuevas infraestructuras culturales que han incrementado considerablemente la oferta cultural valenciana y han transformado el perfil urbano de las ciudades, como el caso de Valencia con la creación de la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.

A total of 116 museums and 99 museum collections contribute to the diffusion of Valencia's cultural heritage, the most numerous being dedicated to archaeology, ethnography and the fine arts, making it one of the destinations in Spain with the greatest number of museums and collections. In the last 20 years new cultural infrastructures have been introduced which have considerably expanded Valencia's cultural offerings and transformed the skylines of cities - as in the case of Valencia, with the building of its City of Arts and Sciences.

Throughout the Community of Valencia, in towns and in cities, a long list of festivals are held which stand out for their widespread participation, their local color, and the spectacle they offer. These are top-quality tourist and cultural attractions featuring a whole range of themes and roots: religious, traditional and historic. Fire, gunpowder, music, colors, display and spectacle are essential elements of Valencia's festivals, held for centuries and meant to be enjoyed on the street, supported by locals and visitors alike, as hospitality and invitations to participate in the festivities become part of what are major social events throughout these towns and cities. Lo primero que uno ve al llegar a Calp es un impresionante promontorio de roca caliza, a medio camino entre una isla y una montaña. Villena abre sus puertas al mundo del 4 al 9 de septiembre con sus majestuosas Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos. Estos son días de júbilo, música en la calle, eclosión de colores, trajes, sensaciones y emociones de millares de villeneros y villeneras que se visten de moros, estudiantes, labradores, contrabandistas o cristianos para honrar a la su Patrona, La Virgen de las Virtudes. Cinco días donde sus visitantes podrán ser participes de vistosos desfiles, actos solemnes que rememoran momentos históricos de nuestro país y en concreto, de la ciudad de Villena durante la Edad Media así como un amplio repertorio de actos en los que participa todo un pueblo. La Virgen de las Virtudes, patrona de la Ciudad, es el punto de unión de los fes-

century in a beautiful enclave near Las Virtudes, today the site of the sanctuary that houses her image. Les Fonts de l´Algar, situadas a tan sólo quince kilómetros de Benidorm y a tres del centro urbano de Callosa d´en Sarrià, constituyen un paraje natural con un elevado grado de conservación de la riqueza ecológica y dotado, a la vez, de servicios turísticos. La visita consiste en el recorrido por un circuito de un kilómetro y medio de longitud a lo largo del cauce del río Algar, denominación árabe para cueva. Aquí se puede sentir de cerca el paisaje fruto del modelado kárstico de la roca caliza. Un recorrido sobre sus espectaculares cascadas que brotan de la roca como numerosas fuentes y que son consideradas “fuente de salud”, los “tolls” o piscinas naturales en donde se pueden tomar refrescantes baños de aguas puras y

cristalinas, la antigua presa, el imponente canal y las acequias centenarias todavía hoy en uso. En las inmediaciones de Les Fonts de l’Algar hay un total de cinco restaurantes donde se puede disfrutar de la comida típica de la zona. También se encuentra una zona de acampada con área de barbacoas y bar. Además, no hay que olvidar visitar El Cactus d’Algar, un jardín botánico que cuenta con más de quinientas especies distintas de cactus y plantas crasas en una superficie ajardinada de cincuenta mil metros cuadrados. The tour features spectacular waterfalls emerging from the rock, a series of fountains considered "sources of health," along with tolls," or natural pools where one can enjoy refreshing dips in pure and crystal clear waters, the old dam, imposing channel, and centuries-old acequias (waterways) that are still in use. Outside Les Fonts de l'Algar there are a total of five restaurants at which to enjoy the area's typical cuisine, along with a camping area equip-

Sax está coronado por un singular Castillo de época almohade que domina la villa en toda su extensión. El casco antiguo es de origen árabe. Allí, encontramos la Casa Museo de Alberto Sols, ilustre científico que obtuvo el premio Príncipe de Asturias de investigación científica en 1981. Otro de los lugares más apacibles es el Parque de los Príncipes, una antigua alameda reconvertida en moderno parque con olmos bicentenarios. Levantada en los años treinta del siglo XVI, la portada renacentista de la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción es de las más tempranas de la comarca. Su gastronomía destaca por los gazpachos, las pelotas de relleno y sus pastas. Sequillos, suspiros o rajadillos son parte de su destacada repostería que data de la época musulmana. Todos estos dulces típicos de Sax pueden tomarse

con una buena mistela elaborada por la Cooperativa del Campo San Blas. Las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos son una tradición muy arraigada. Así, también, la Virgen de los Frutos, que se celebra en septiembre engalanando el centro histórico con flores y plantas. Sax puede conocerse a través de tres nuevas rutas: la ruta del Castillo, la ruta botánica del Castillo y la ruta de los Sentidos, de modo interactivo, con un código QR para adultos y otro especial para colegios. Sax is crowned by a unique Almohad-era castle overlooking the entire village, while its historic town center is of Arab origin. There we find the Museum/House of Alberto Sols, the distinguished scientist who won the Prince of Asturias Prize for Scientific Research in 1981.
Another pleasant place is its Parc des Princes, a former poplar grove now a modern park, featuring elm trees over 200 years old. Built in the 1530s, the Renaissance facade to the Church of our Lady of the Assumption is among the region's oldest. Local cuisine is noted for its gazpacho, pelotas de relleno (a kind of meatball dish) and pastas, whileits outstanding pastries include sequillos, suspiros and rajadillos, which can also be traced back to Muslim times. And all these typical Sax sweets can be enjoyed with a good mistela(a grape juice and alcohol liquor) crafted by the Campo San Blas cooperative. The Moors and Christians festival is also a deeply rooted tradition, as is the "Virgin of the Fruits," which is held in September, when the historic center is decked out with plants and flowers.
SAX can now be explored through three new routes: its Castle Route, Botanical Route of the Castle, and Route of the Senses, in an interactive way, with a QR code for adults and another special one for schools.

Este año se celebra el Bicentenario de la Batalla de Vitoria. Desde aquí, desde se pueden revivir los movimientos de las tropas napoleónicas frente a las tropas aliadas en 1813. La Catedral y las visitas teatralizadas nocturnas por el Casco Histórico son otra buena manera de conocer la ciudad. En las fechas estivales Vitoria está llena de citas para todo el mundo como las Fiestas de la Virgen Blanca, el Festival Internacional de Jazz, el Día del Blusa o el Festival de Magia. Summer is a fantastic time to explore Vitoria, take refuge in any of its shady parks, or rest on one of the terraces at sundown. After all, the city has not been named the "Green Capital" for nothing. Florida Park is a romantic place full of trees right in the heart of
the city, and then there is Salburua Park, with its Bird Observatory, Ataria interpretation center and guided visits, these being just two indispensable examples. The city offers both the joy of nature and the pleasure of eating at its restaurants and cider houses. On the culinary side, one can make his way through its "Pintxo Routes", wending his way through the downtown streets of the Old Quarter in to better savor this green and historic city. Its authentic past allows one to visit sites such as the Tower of the Cathedral of St. Mary. This year marks the Bicentennial of the Battle of Vitoria, and it is from here where one can relive the movements of Napoleon's troops against the Allies in 1813. The Cathedral and night tours through the Old Quarter, with dramatic guides clad in
period dress, are other good ways to get to know the city. In the summertime Vitoria holds a series of events for all, with its Festival of the White Virgin, International Jazz Festival, Day of the Blouse, and Magic Festival.

Laura se casa por mario de las heras
Están sentadas formando un corro. Las cuatro. No hay nadie más y el agua se mueve como un río. El río suena y es agradable. El marco de la piscina es de color vainilla, casi blanco, como una playa virgen. El sol se oculta por detrás de la cúspide de un tejado. Son tres mujeres morenas y una rubia. Ésta dice: —Le dije a David que estaba harta de la casa –dice con un golpe de cabeza que desliza en bloque su pelo sobre la espalda. —¿Y qué te dijo? —Que no lo entendía. ¿Te lo puedes creer? Con ese vecindario… y yo horrorizada... Vamos, que no bajaba a la piscina. Ni hablar. Con esa gente. Que cómo nos íbamos a marchar si no llevábamos ni dos meses viviendo allí, y que qué me importaban los vecinos si no los veía nunca. Y menos a él, que no está nunca... Total, que quince días después estábamos aquí... Alguien se ha lanzado al agua. Las cuatro miran. Es un hombre que emerge a la superficie con los ojos cerrados y el pelo brillante y el rostro relajado. El sol aparece de nuevo entre los edificios, iluminándolas como el foco de un teatro. —¡Anda, si casi se me olvida! ¿Sabéis quién se casa? ¿Os acordáis de Laura? Laura, Laura... —No... —Te lo juro. Me lo dijo ayer mi madre que se encontró con la suya en el dentista. Y muy fuerte: el novio es el dentista. Y por lo visto es guapo y juega al squash. Eso dice mi madre. Del sol ya sólo se advierte un resplandor naranja a lo lejos. El hombre ha salido del agua, que le resbala del cuerpo en gruesos goterones que caen con estruendo sobre el suelo de color vainilla, oscureciéndolo. Ellas le miran y él ahora abre la ducha.
