Aunque no seamos conscientes nos hemos metido de lleno en el verano. Una estación que, aunque adolece del aura dorada otorgada a la primavera, es la más deseada por el común de los mortales. Verano tiene un sinónimo que no aparece en ningún diccionario, por raro que parezca, que es vacaciones.

Without us even realising it, we are fully immersed in the summer. A season that, although it lacksthe golden aura surrounding the spring, is the most eagerly awaited by common mortals. Summer has a synonym that, oddly enough, does not appear in any dictionary: vacation.

Un silogismo sencillo que provoca furor en nuestras neuronas. Un extra de actividad para preparar planes de cara a ese tiempo libre y esas jornadas largas de luz, con los pies descalzos sobre la arena, o el césped, vale incluso el artificial, y un refresco en mano, vale también cualquier destilado, en el punto más extremo hasta el que lleva un ciervo en la etiqueta. Pero poniendo freno a la imaginación, también hay cosas normales.

A simple syllogism that lights up our neurons. A flurry of activity to make plans for all that free time and long days bathed in light, with your bare feet in the sand, or on the lawn (artificial will do too), and a soda in hand, or a liquor, even one with a deer on its label. But, putting a brake on one's imagination, there are also more normal things.

VERANOS DE LA VILLA Desde / From 30 jun.

Como cada año, Veranos de la Villa vuelve al calor estival madrileño del 30 de Junio al 3 de Septiembre. En esta edición multiplica sus espacios pasando de 36 a prácticamente 60 escenarios con más de noventa propuestas (cine, teatro, danza y música). La apuesta es llegar a todos los públicos con una programación en la que el 80% de las actividades serán de acceso libre. Las de pago tendrán un precio máximo de 15 euros por entrada. Como todos los veranos desde los años 60, de los días 2 al 12 de Agosto, en La Unión, Murcia, se podrá disfrutar de este Festival tan esperado para todos los amantes del flamenco. El certamen se realiza en el Antiguo Mercado Público y está abierto tanto a participantes anónimos como a profesionales, teniendo como premio a la denominada Lámpara Minera. ALGODÓN La Sala Tarambana es uno de los lugares donde más y mejor se cuida al público infantil. Por la calidad de los montajes, por la calidez... Y lo demuestran con sus propuestas cada fin de semana durante la temporada y también consolidando Chupetes, un Festival de Teatro para bebés que cumple su segunda edición y que pretende fomentar las artes en los primeros años de vida de los lactantes, ya que las experiencias que vivimos en esa primera etapa marcan el resto de nuestra existencia.

The Sala Tarambana is a venue that loves to entertain kids, with quality shows and a warm welcome for them every time. They demonstrate it with their offerings every weekend during the season, and also through their commitment to Chupetes (Pacifiers/Dummies), a Theatre Festival for very small children marking its second edition and that seeks to foment the arts in the first years of infants' lives, as very early experiences can have an impact on the rest of our existences.

Aquí os recomendamos una de las propuestas más interesantes dentro del festival, la que viene de la mano de la reconocida compañía Miriñaque. Algodón, una creación de Blanca del Barrio con Iria Angulo y Yolanda González, es un maravilloso y poético montaje que nos invita a mirar al cielo y descubrir las nubes. Porque salimos de casa mirando al suelo no vemos los paisajes de algodón cambiantes, únicos, etéreos. Si nos detenemos, veremos a Violeta, una nube alta, flaca y coqueta, o a Gastón grande, gris y barrigón. Nubes como emociones enjauladas en nuestro corazón. Nubes alegres, amarillas de Sol, otras asustadas con el miedo de la luz apagada. Cada una con su nombre, su color, su emoción.

Here we recommend one of the most interesting attractions forming part of the festival, by the renowned company Miriñaque: Algodón (Cotton) is a creation by Blanca del Barrio, along with Iria Angulo and Yolanda González. It´s a wonderful and poetic installation that invites audiences to gaze at the sky and rediscover the clouds. Leaving our houses, staring at the ground, we never stop to see these changing, unique, ethereal cotton landscapes. If we do, we will see Violet, a tall, thin, flirty cloud, and big, grey and potbellied Gaston. Clouds like emotions caged in our hearts. Joyful clouds, yellow from the sun, others fearful of the light going off. Each one with its own name, colour, and emotion.

Pilar Castro directs a new adaptation of The Sleeping Prince, one of the most popular works by Terence Rattigan, the most successful British playwright of the 20th century. The text, echoing the sense of humor and pacing of Oscar Wilde and Bernard Shaw, paints a delicate portrait of the exercise of power in solitude, of a despotic father who denies his son love, and of a generational handover which those in power resist, with more than a few connections to the present.

LOS CONCIERTOS DE LA MURALLA *el mejor ritmo en el verano alcalaíno

La empresa granadina Wild Punk junto con el Ayuntamiento madrileño de Alcalá de Henares presentan por segundo año consecutivo y de forma oficial el programa de verano de Los conciertos de la Muralla. El programa se presenta completo y se anuncian grandes actuaciones como la del cantante Leiva, número uno de nuestro país en ventas que presentará su nuevo disco, Miguel Poveda, uno de nuestros flamencos más consagrados, y Antonio José, voz popular ganador del talent show televisivo La Voz. Además se confirman las actuaciones de La Guardia + La Frontera + Burning que será el concierto de rock & roll del verano, el espectáculo Antología de la Zarzuela de la Compañia de Lírica de Madrid destinado a los amantes del género, Cantajuegos con el show infantil “Viva mi Planeta” y el nuevo espectáculo de los sevillanos Los Morancos. Para finalizar el verano se reservan tres días con carácter gratuito para disfrutar de buen ambiente en la calle con Músicas del mundo street market, un espacio reservado para música, cultura gastronómica, artesanía y otras actividades. Durante los días 15, 16 y 17 de septiembre de 2017, tendrá lugar en el recinto ferial de Ficoba en Irún, la VI edición de Expogrow, que con más de 5.000 m2 repartidos en 4 pabellones y 7.000 m2 al aire libre, ofrecerá la posibilidad de visitar stands expositivos de conocidos bancos de semillas, grows, distribuidores, empresas especializadas en productos de cultivo, etc. Expogrow no solo es una Feria. Uno de los pilares fundamentales de esta cita es el Foro Social Internacional de Cannabis, el cual ya se ha convertido en el evento referencial de debates en torno al cannabis y a las políticas de drogas a nivel mundial. Este año cambia de formato y pasa a denominarse Cannabis Forum Box. El nuevo espacio cambiará el escenario del atril y las mesas del auditorio, por un formato talk show. Es la Pandorga una de las fiestas clave en el calendario de los ciudadrealeños. Este popular evento, que busca su declaración como Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional, se celebra el último día del mes de julio, y aúna tradición, fiesta, música, convite y baile. Desde tiempos remotos, la gente de Ciudad Real rinden homenaje a su Patrona, la Virgen del Prado. Una fiesta que arranca con el nombramiento del “Pandorgo”, representante del pueblo manchego, para dar paso a un colorido pasacalles desde la Plaza Mayor a los Jardines del Prado en el que las asociaciones y entidades portan su simbólica ofrenda de flores y frutos. La música acompañando a los bailes regionales se suceden junto al Prado, donde el Pandorgo “de hogaño” realiza su “convidá” a limoná y a garbanzos “torraos”. Esa noche no se duerme, con la música de la orquestas hasta que amanece en la Plaza Mayor reuniendo por sus calles a miles de personas ataviadas con el pañuelo de yerbas, y que no quieren perderse los toros de fuego. Música que alegra las calles y el Parque de Gasset, donde el reggae es el protagonista. Celebración que comienza el 30 de julio con la “zurra”, una limoná para saciar la sed, y rociar al resto de grupos al ritmo de la música en La Pradera. Las peñas y agrupaciones se reúnen en el tradicional Concurso de Limoná. Cada año, son más las personas que desde distintos puntos del país, se suman a esta tradicional fiesta, seña de identidad de Ciudad Real.

The Pandorga is one of the biggest celebrations on Ciudad Real's calendar. This popular event, seeking status as a Festival of National Touristic Interest, is held on the last day of July, bringing together tradition, celebration, music, food and dancing. Ever since ancient times the people of Ciudad Real have paid homage to their patron La Virgen del Prado. This is a festival that kicks off with the naming of the "Pandorgo", a representative of the people of La Mancha, later giving way later to a colourful parade from the Plaza Mayor to the Jardines del Prado (gardens) in which associations and entities carry their symbolic offerings of flowers and fruits. There is music and regional dances near the Prado, where the Pandorgo invites the attendees to the celebration’s traditional lemonade and chickpeas. On this night Ciudad Real does not sleep, with orchestras playing until dawn in the Plaza Mayor, drawing thousands of people donning their chequered kerchiefs, and who don't want to miss the "bulls of fire." Meanwhile, music livens up the streets and reggae sounds fill the Parque de Gasset. The celebration begins on July 30 with zurra, lemonade that groups of young people make to quench their thirst, and to douse other groups with, to the rhythms of music played in La Pradera. Ciudad Real's traditional clubs and groups converge at the customary Lemonade Competition, to decide who made the best. Every year more and more people from different parts of the country are participating in this traditional celebration, a Ciudad Real hallmark.

a gallega localidad de Ribadavia recupera cada año, en el mes de agosto, su Festa da Istoria. Esta celebración intenta recordar, año tras año, la historia de la villa y sus alrededores, lo que hace a todos los pobladores y visitantes rememorar las tradiciones y vivencias de épocas pasadas en una recreación medieval, donde se encuentran representadas las distintas culturas, religiones, profesiones y clases sociales de la época. Así, el objetivo de la fiesta es recuperar las costumbres que han hecho de Ribadavia lo que hoy es. En este ámbito la fiesta permite conocer oficios que hoy en día están en decadencia o ya se olvidaron, tales como herreros, carpinteros de armar, toneleros, zoqueros, canteros, cesteros, y un largo etcétera. La celebración, que lleva al visitante a la época medieval, está regada por el vino del Ribeiro, un caldo que ya fue cantado por el Rey Alfonso X el Sabio y reconocido por los pueblos europeos.

Each August the Galician village of Ribadavia celebrates its traditional Festa da Istoria, festivities held to commemorate the history of the town and its environs, as inhabitants and visitors alike evoke the traditions and experiences of bygone times through medieval recreations representing the different cultures, religions, trades and social classes of that era. Thus, the aim of the festival is to recall the customs that made Ribadavia what it is today. To this end, the festival spotlights trades that are on the wane or have altogether disappeared today: such as blacksmiths, carpenters, coopers, shoemakers, stonecutters, basket makers, and many more. The event, which sweeps visitors back to medieval times, is celebrated with participants tipping glasses containing Ribeiro wines, which were already praised by King Alfonso X the Wise and recognised by the countries of Europe long ago.

Tell us, how did the idea of opening La Hora del Vermut come about?

Siempre volvíamos de nuestros viajes con nuevas ideas de negocio y casi por casualidad, nos encontramos con una propuesta del Mercado de San Miguel. Cuando nos propusieron abrir un puesto monográfico de vermut, decidimos no ofrecer un único vermut sino buscar a lo largo y ancho de la geografía española aquellos más representativos de cada zona. Y seguimos buscando...

We always came back from our trips with new business ideas and, almost by chance, we came across an opportunity at the Mercado de San Miguel. When they asked us to open a locale specialised in vermouth, we decided not to offer just one vermouth, but to search throughout Spain for those most representative of each area. And we keep on looking...

¿Cuál es el consejo que os habría gustado que os dieran antes de abrir el negocio?

What is the bit of advice that you wish you had been given before opening the business?

El principio fue todo muy rápido, nos ofrecieron un primer puesto, luego dos, y casi sin darnos cuenta nos encontramos con cuatro. Y además en septiembre abrimos un local propio en la zona de Ibiza. ¿Un consejo? Perseguir tus sueños y buscar la felicidad en lo que haces.

The beginning was a whirlwind. They offered us a first location, then two, and, almost without realizing it, we had four. In September we opened up our own locale in Ibiza. Want some advice? Pursue your dreams and seek happiness in what you do.

With so much competition from beers and wines, how can we sell vermouth to readers?

Es una bebida muy especial y con muchas variaciones en función de la combinación de hierbas con las que esté elaborado y el tiempo de maceración. Es la bebida de muchos de los más famosos protagonistas de cine. ¿Quién no ha fantaseado con ser James Bond o una actriz de Hollywood de los 40?

It’s a very special drink and with many variations, depending on the combination of herbs with which it is prepared, and its maceration time. It was the drink preferred by many of the most famous movie stars. Who hasn’t fantasized about being James Bond, or a Hollywood actress from the 40s?

Dado que está tan de moda el Gin&Tonic, hemos introducido una variación usando como ingrediente protagonista el vermut, cómo no. Es el Vermutonic. Es muy sencilla su elaboración: 1/3 de Vermut Rojo, 2/3 vaso de tónica, zumo de dos rodajas de lima y hielo.

Los científicos han descubierto que el mecanismo para purificar los errores no era la mente en sí misma como se había venido creyendo. No es mediante los sueños el motivo por el cual nuestra mente está organizada, nuestros errores nos son perdonados, el remordimiento se desvanece o la maldad se soporta. El mecanismo que se encarga de todo es el cuerpo en sí mismo por las secreciones de orina, sudor y heces, principalmente. Mediante la orina se eliminan principalmente mentiras, engaños, manipulaciones y medias verdades. En las heces encontramos el odio, deseos de muerte, envidias, rencores y alegrías por el mal ajeno. En el sudor se encuentran los errores, arrepentimientos y autoengaños, así como deseos no cumplidos y golpes de realidad. Aún se investiga por donde se eliminan aquellos recuerdos que no podemos almacenar porque nos recuerdan que no somos buenos. Se ha demostrado por tanto, nada fácil por supuesto, que si evita todo lo anteriormente mencionado, véase, preguntas con doble sentido por celos encubiertos, mentiras sobre el lugar en el que estuvo anoche, o qué fue del dinero perdido, rencores y envidias hacia personas que no tienen estos pensamientos, y cualquier otro pensamiento tóxico, no emitirá su cuerpo ninguna secreción, e invitamos al pequeño lector, científico en potencia a que pruebe, teniendo por supuesto que si lo logra, no irá al baño durante todo el tiempo que dure el experimento.
