"Cavetowns 'Cappadocia'" by Satoshi Yagisawa is inspired by the ancient and mysterious region of Cappadocia in modern Turkey, known for its unique rock formations and extensive underground cities. The piece reflects the awe-inspiring landscape and the historical significance of Cappadocia, which housed early Christians escaping persecution. Through vivid musical imagery, Yagisawa captures the essence of this land of beautiful horses and hidden cities, bringing to life the fantastical scenery andtheresilientspiritofitsinhabitants.
This work incorporates elements of Guangdong folk music and is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, the theme is played with the beautiful and mellow timbre of the French horn, followed by the lyrical timbre of the soprano saxophone to express thesweetnessflowinginpeople'shearts.Thesecond chapter uses the rhythm of 6/8 beats to reflect the contemporary Guangdong people's pursuit and yearning for happiness. The third chapter expresses theGuangdongpeople'sindomitableandpioneering spirit of struggle. Lastly, the fourth chapter is a reproduction of the theme of happiness, reflecting the people's aftertaste of happiness, making each notefullofhappiness.

American Riversongs is based on traditional and composed music of an earlier time, when the rivers andwaterwayswerethelifelinesofagrowingnation. It begins with a rousing setting of “Down the River”, followedbyanexpansiveanddramatictreatmentof “Shenandoah”, or “Across the Wide Missouri”, as it is sometimes called. After a brief transition, a brass band is heard playing a quadrille-like version of Stephen Foster’s “The Glendy Burk”. As the “Glendy Burk”travelsalong, asecondthemeisintroducedby piccolo, flutes and tambourine. The second theme is based on a Creole bamboula tune that probably originatedintheLouisianadeltaregion.

"The Phantom of the Opera" tells the captivating tale of a mysterious masked figure who haunts the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera House. Known only as the Phantom, he falls deeply in love with Christine Daaé, a beautiful young soprano. Using his musical genius, the Phantom helps Christine rise to fame, but his obsessive love and possessiveness lead to dramatic and tragic events. The musical explores themes of love, jealousy, and the fine line between beauty and darkness, all set against the opulent backdrop of the opera world. This timeless story, brought to life through Andrew Lloyd Webber's unforgettable score, continues to mesmerize audiencesaroundtheglobe.
