advantages to being a part of a large church. For example, the bulletin from last Sunday listed 52 opportunities to participate in FVUMC life! FIFTY-TWO OPPORTUNITIES! Those events range from Worship to Handbells to Growth Groups, Main Street Kitchen, Pumpkin Patch…even flu shots! Yikes! For those who have been part of the family for years, these events are familiar! But to those who have more recently joined the FVUMC Family, that list can be overwhelming. Where does one begin? Recently, a couple moved into Fuquay-Varina. They chose FVUMC as their new church home. They hit the ground running! He popped into the 8:00 service one Sunday and stayed for the 9:30 too because that was the service his wife was attending. Learning that he was an avid gardener, Joy Brown gave him call and invited him to roll up his sleeves and come by the garden…which he did! He learned of the Senior Celebration event, and imagine my surprise when I showed up and he came out of the kitchen wearing an apron! He nudged his way right into the kitchen! His wife asked about the United Methodist Women and was soon contacted by Betty Tilley with the meeting schedule. She showed up again on FVUMC Fun night, and we chatted while waiting

in line for popcorn! When I called to see if I might share their story in the newsletter, I was updated about the folks they met—names included— while dropping in for flu shots! They have both just jumped in with both feet! While you may not be quite as outgoing as the couple described above, there is a way for you to get into FVUMC life! We so enjoy helping people find their places. You are invited to call the office or send us an email sharing what you are interested in so we can get you plugged in! Also, serving opportunities are often posted in bulletins and emails for various ministries and events. If you see a spot that fits you, don’t wait to be personally invited. Just jump in with a response! You might even see an opportunity in this newsletter!
