Welcome to Future Dreams Virtual Art Exhibition and Auction. It is my great pleasure to support Future Dreams with its first ever virtual event. Everyone is welcome to view, admire and bid on the 25 magnificent artworks which have kindly been donated by a rosta of talented artists and photographers. Their work is varied and inspiring. One in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and Future Dreams’ mission is that no-one should face this illness alone. The charity has chosen the beauty of art as an uplifting mechanism to raise vital funds. I hope you enjoy this experience and thank you for all your support.

A B OU T F U T U R E DR E A M S Unique and dynamic, Future Dreams was established in 2008 by mother and daughter Sylvie Henry and Danielle Leslie. By a cruel twist of fate, they were both diagnosed with breast cancer, Danielle just 35 and a mother to three young children. Tragically, both women lost their lives to the disease within 18 months of each other in 2009. Their dream was to make sure that nobody should ever have to face this illness on their own. To date, Future Dreams has raised a staggering £6.5m pledging funds towards the charity’s three divisions: support, awareness and research, focusing on secondary breast cancer. Future Dreams has partnered with Breast Cancer Haven to fund vital support projects whilst promoting awareness with Breast Cancer Care and raising crucial funds for research with Breast Cancer Now, targeting the goal that by 2050 everyone diagnosed with the disease will live. Once the pandemic began to unfold earlier this year, Future Dreams decided to focus its efforts (whilst continuing to support various campaigns) in helping those going through breast cancer treatment or those who have been newly diagnosed. The charity actioned a proactive campaign at the beginning of lockdown to practically support patients and to date Future Dreams has provided over 5,000 care packages which include a variety of products including healthy snacks, activity books to help pass the time during treatment and a variety of other goodies including skincare products for patients to take home and enjoy. Additionally, the charity has donated over 1,000 post-surgery bras, provided vital breast forms, headscarves, drainbags and hundreds of meals for NHS staff. The charity’s mission adapted to practical support for patients dealing with their diagnosis in unprecedented and extremely challenging times as well as the NHS staff treating and caring for them. Future Dreams is thrilled to be supporting Black Women Rising founder and breast cancer survivor Leanne Pero by sponsoring the first Black Woman Rising publication which launched in October 2020. The book is aimed to encourage and empower more black female cancer patients by connecting and talking about their journeys, aiding their recovery process. Leanne has been instrumental in generating awareness for breast cancer within in the BAME (Black. Asian and minority ethnic) community and has recently become a loyal ambassador for Future Dreams. During these uncertain and challenging times, Future Dreams is committed to helping all those touched by breast cancer, providing vital and practical support, generating awareness and the importance of early detection as well as funding research projects with the aim of preventing breast cancer for future generations.

I NTR ODUCTION FUT UR E D RE AMS Future Dreams will hold an online Art Auction kindly sponsored by Sky Arts, TK International and The Arts Club Mayfair to raise vital funds to support those touched by breast cancer during these unprecedented and immensely challenging times created by COVID-19. Working in collaboration with Moyosa media - the creators of The Kremer Collection and the leading experts in building state-of-the-art virtual gallery spaces - Future Dreams will also present a stunning virtual exhibition. Audiences from around the world are invited to view the artworks ahead of the auction in a virtual exhibition curated by Amelie Von Wedel and Pernilla Holmes of The Arts Club, Mayfair. The exhibition is an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful works of art (on a computer, tablet or smartphone) before they are auctioned off to the highest bidder. The virtual gallery will be accessible from 10am on 23rd November and will close at 7pm on 30th November. A total of 23 artists, photographers and sculptors have generously donated their unique and remarkable work to Future Dreams with the aim of raising imperative funds and awareness for breast cancer. Viv Lee (The New Craftsmen), Ian McChesney, Scarlet Page, Rankin, Raoof Haghighi (Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2014), Gideon Rubin (Galerie Karsten Greve), Kate Shaw (Olsen Gallery), Kenton Thatcher, Rob Unett (SHOWstudio), Tina Willis-Jones (Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year) and David Yarrow. Specialists in the industry, The Auction Collective will host the event. The objective of this exciting and special event is twofold: firstly, it enables the charity to continue to fundraise for breast cancer patients undergoing treatment and surgery (with the added pressure of COVID-19) without endangering the health and wellbeing of the organisers, artists and donors. Secondly, the event demonstrates the generous and widespread support from the artistic community, which has united in the face of adversity to help tackle a cancer crisis that has been dramatically interrupted and greatly unsettled by COVID 19.

FUT UR E D RE AMS H OUS E UPDATE At the start of 2019 and after three tireless years of fundraising, Future Dreams achieved its long term goal of finding a location for Future Dreams House, home to Breast Cancer Haven’s London centre and the only complimentary breast cancer support centre in the capital. The 6,000sq ft site is located on Birkenhead Street, Kings Cross, a minute’s walk from King’s Cross Station making it easily accessible from all four corners of the capital and to patients from 15 hospitals across the city. Men, women and their families will have access to vital complementary services including image workshops, life coaching, financial and nutritional advice along with psychological support to help patients and their families cope with the emotional and physical effects of a breast cancer diagnosis. Future Dreams House will be a sanctuary where visitors will be supported by clinicians and professionals away from a medical environment and where people can form friendships and networks that will help them to take on this disease from a place of solidarity and empowerment. The opening of Future Dreams House has unfortunately been delayed due to the pandemic, however building work has now recommenced and we look forward to opening in the Spring/Summer of 2021. Future Dreams House will see founders Sylvie Henry and Danielle Leslie’s dream of nobody having to face breast cancer on their own become a reality.

BI D D IN G IN T H E AUCT I O N R O O M Bidding in timed auctions takes place only online. The auction runs for a set period of time and shows the current highest bid (note this is not the maximum bid). The bidder with the highest bid when the countdown timer ends wins the auction.

1 Find the timed auction in which you wish to bid.

2 Then you will need to download a bidding paddle. This will register you for the auction.

3

4

5

6

Then simply enter your ‘Maximum Bid’. If there are no other bidders, you will buy the lot at the starting bid. However, if there are other bidders, your maximum bid will automatically bid against them until one of you has the highest bid. Bidding follows a set pattern of ‘bidding increments’.

You will be notified if you have been out bid and given an opportunity to counter the other bidder.

Any bids placed in the last minute extend the entire auction by one minute so that everyone has a chance to bid again.

The winning bidder is notified by email of their success and provided with instructions on how to complete the payment.

A DÉB AYO B O L AJ I HER NAM E IS Adébayo Bolaji, is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in London. At the centre of his practice is the dialogue of change and the focus of the individual within a connecting society whether that be anthropological, religious, historical or popular culture. The use of the vibrant and metaphorical language, is a crucial element in his work, helping to narrate a different story within each painting allowing for the viewer to take an active role in the works. Bolaji has exhibited internationally in London and Zurich, with artist residencies in New York and Margate, including an Artist Residency with Yinka Shonibare MBE Guest Projects.

“In short, I lost my aunt to breast cancer. The thing with any disease is that strangely, we all (at times) think that we are immune. There is a strange belief that, sick people or those who have been affected by diseases sort of belong to another part of the world that we will never encounter. And yet, the truth is that we are all part of the earth, we are all connected in some shape or form... we just are. However, another sad truth is... out of sight... out of mind. The gift of art is to be able to allow us to remember this truth.. and at that, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming, it can just be expressed in a way that words at times cannot fulfil. At this point in my life, it feels only right to use a bit of what I have to add to a needed conversation... that we all matter."

Today, Golding and Snelle have shed their ficticious biography but kept their original name. The Connor Brothers are known for their paintings and prints featuring vintage pin-ups and Old Hollywood models in seductive poses, paired with accompanying witty captions.

R OS S ON C R OW UNTITLE D ( D IP T YC H ) 2005

Rosson Crow’s characteristically large-scale, immersive and richly hued work is often based on historic references, both personal and collective in nature. Often including Modernist architectural triumphs, or places with mythic backstories, Crow’s diverse influences range from Los Angeles’s Koenig House to Fort Worth’s White Elephant Saloon. The artist’s canvases also frequently evoke the romance and nostalgia of a bygone era by pairing the masculine environments of rodeos, saloons, and trophy rooms with a lush, expressionistic style that often layers mediums such as acrylic, spray paint, oil and enamel. Rosson Crow received an MFA from Yale University in 2006 and BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York in 2004. Solo exhibitions have been held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson; Honor Fraser, Los Angeles; Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth; Musée Régional d’Art Contemporain de Sérignan; Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Paris; Deitch Projects, New York and White Cube, London among other commercial galleries and institutions. Crow lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.

My practice centres around ideas of beauty and ugliness and the conventions which determine our definition of each. I am interested in how we see things and how we interpret what we see: does my particular way of representing bodies, using fabrics, stitching and embroidery, affect how the content of the work is seen? To some extent I see my work as an investigation of the divide between craft and art. I love bodies. And it is not the conventionally beautiful bodies that take my eye, it is bodies which show their history, that have been altered by their experiences, that are decorated with bruises, scars, spots, stretch marks, freckles, pigmentation, veins. Bodies that have the marks of life on them. But also bodies which have been deliberately altered and decorated - by man rather than by life – scarification, tattoos, plastic surgery, fillers, etc. Are some characteristics of bodies inherently beautiful, or ugly, or disgusting? Or because we see everything through the veil of culture, fashion and convention is it almost impossible for us to see bodies objectively? I am currently making a series of medical/surgical pieces, showing bodies that have been altered by disease or surgery. My granny (an upholsterer and seamstress of great skill) had her breast removed as a result of cancer and was hugely grateful to the surgeon for saving her life. But she was almost equally appreciative of what a beautiful stitching job he had done. She was very proud of her scar.

“Almost a year ago I lost my wife to breast cancer. It was a surprise to be contacted by Future Dreams and given an opportunity to help raise awareness of something that affects so many women. Having personal experience of living with a loved one with breast cancer is heart breaking and still a private affair for me. I feel honoured to be able to help by donating my art at this time, in memory of my wife. Also knowing it will help everyone else on this journey have access to the support they need. Graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2017 with a First Class Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture, Viv works with terracotta and stonewear clays to create sculpural ceramics with a focus on hand built vessels. “As a photographer, I am lucky to have a platform to talk about things I care about, to highlight issues, projects and campaigns that I feel deserve time and attention. When I was asked to donate an image to Future Dreams and support this event, I knew that this would be a great way for me to share with my following the incredible work they are doing and publicly show support for such an vital project.

R O B U N ET T S HE G OT S OU L I study and visually communicate the clothed and nude figure. After a long period of researching a subject I am ready to create. Before I begin painting I empty my mind, I feel nothing, and through marks on any surface, immediate and poignant thoughts become known; I react to these. My surfaces are soaked with a variety of media, swallowing arrays of colour; a vocabulary to visually speak through. Whether it is through delicate lines, rhythmic washes, violent slashes, smears, tears or bleeds, emotions are released and images emerge. Sex, gender, a pose, a gesture, confusion, power and pain, destruction and construction, all feature in the abstracted figures I depict. My figures are predominantly solitary.

DAVID YARR OW T HE L AT E S H IFT; LEWA, K E N YA 2017

David Yarrow was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966. He took up photography at an early age and as a 20-year-old found himself working as a photographer for The London Times on the pitch at the World Cup Final in Mexico City. On that day, David took the famous picture of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup and, as a result, was subsequently asked to cover the Olympics and numerous other sporting events. Many years later David established himself as a fine art photographer by documenting the natural world from new perspectives and the last nine years have been career defining. David’s evocative and immersive photography of life on earth is most distinctive and has earned him an ever growing following amongst art collectors. His large monochrome images made in Los Angeles are on display in leading galleries and museums across Europe and North America. He is now recognised as one of the best selling fine art photographers in the world and his limited edition works regularly sell at high prices at Sotheby’s and other auction houses.

T K INT E RN ATION A L Jeremy Karpel (an artist and illustrator in his own right) and Daniel Epstein have both been professionally involved in the Hampstead and North London property market both initially as negotiators for other companies, and then as owners of TK International, for circa 35 years and at the same time have cultivated deep roots within the local community. Their business mantra is based heavily on service and being empathic to both their clients’ and applicants’ needs. Age and a few grey hairs have enabled them to have an enviable list of clients which they have built up over the decades. Part of their success has been due to their complimentary interests outside of agency which (unlike some) doesn’t purely revolve around football, but takes in the wider aspects of life and the arts, including being the main sponsor of the Hampstead Arts Festival, Patrons of Keats Community Library and Patrons of the Hampstead Theatre to name but a few. t-k.co.uk

T HE ART S C LU B The Arts Club was founded in 1863 by men of vision in order to provide a haven for those people who had professional or amateur relationships with the Arts, Literature or Sciences and it has provided this hospitality and friendship ever since. In 1896, the Club relocated from its original home on Hanover Square to its present elegant 18th Century townhouse at 40 Dover Street, affording its members a comfortable and impressive base in Mayfair. It has survived two world wars, including a direct hit on the building during the Blitz of 1940. In the course of its existence the Club has included amongst its members many outstanding figures in the history of art, literature and science: writers such as Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins and Thomas Hughes; musicians such as Paolo Tosti, Charles Halle and Franz Liszt; artists such as Frederic Leighton, Walter Sickert, John Everett Millais, Auguste Rodin and James McNeill Whistler, as well as an array of pre-eminent surgeons, solicitors and professionals. In September 2011, the Club re-launched after undergoing a complete renovation, transforming it into a truly venerable institution. The principal areas of interest amongst the current members are: art, architecture, fashion, film, literature, music, performance, photography, science, theatre and media. It proudly continues to be a hub for creative and entrepreneurial patrons to come together to meet, exchange ideas, dine and participate in the varied events, and the Club has reclaimed its place at the heart of contemporary cultural life in London. The Club’s art collection remains at its very core, highlighting international trends, as well as maintaining a focus on British-based artists. Amelie von Wedel, the Club’s art advisor and curator, has chosen the pieces to include a combination of site-specific installations and carefully selected acquisitions. The permanent collection includes work by Tomas Saraceno, John Baldessari and John Stezaker, which sit alongside both the Club's historic collection and a series of temporary exhibitions which change throughout the year.

TH E AUCT I O N C OL L E CT I V E The Auction Collective was established in 2017 by former Christie's auctioneer and Contemporary Art Specialist Tom Best. It was created to provide a fresh approach to the art market. Tom's idea was to take the best of Britain's auction tradition and bring it up to date by making it more streamlined, more transparent and more affordable. At the core of The Auction Collective's work is a commitment to support today's emerging artists. Throughout the year The Auction Collective run a series of curated auctions, exhibitions and print sales straight from the studios of the art world's rising stars. "The advice and help that is provided by Future Dreams to people with breast cancer, and the supportive community that it has created around this, is inspirational. There is an incredible amount of love and empathy that exudes from the organisation and its commitment to make a difference to the lives of people with breast cancer. The Auction Collective is honoured to help Future Dreams keep on providing such fantastic support - with all the troubles the pandemic has caused this year, their outstanding work is needed more than ever."

C LOSIN G WORD FR OM S P E N C E R L E S L I E With Sylvie and Danielle’s dream of opening Future Dreams House in sight, we hope this unique exhibition and auction will bring the charity one step closer to raising all the money needed to open this vital breast cancer support centre. For the past seven months, Future Dreams has been unable to hold its usual fundraising events which the charity so heavily relies upon to raise much needed funds for support, awareness and research projects. Instead of lying down and waiting for the storm to pass, we have had to be versatile and creative in order to think of other methods to raise the funds to continue to help all those touched by breast cancer. Virtual events such as the art auction, enables the charity to continue to fundraise for breast cancer patients undergoing treatment and surgery (with the added pressure of COVID-19) without endangering the health and wellbeing of the organisers, artists and donors. It is vital we continue to raise funds for the various campaigns we support as well as our commitment to opening Future Dreams House, a vital new Breast cancer support centre and the capitals only complimentary ( no charge) support centre for all those affected by breast cancer. On behalf of Future Dreams, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the artists, photographers and sculptors who have generously donated artwork and their time in order to help Future Dreams and its mission during these very challenging and difficult times. We look forward to sharing with our supporters how much money we raise from this unique and special virtual event and thank you for your continuous and much needed support. Best wishes
