2023 EVENT GUIDE

Opening times:

Tues 07 March: 10:00 – 18:00

Wed 08 March: 10:00 – 18:00

Thurs 09 March: 10:00 – 16:00

Over the past year, we’ve been calling on the built environment industry to join our ‘take a stand’ mission and we’re thrilled to see all of these pledges come to life at the event. Our ‘take a stand’ campaign is at the heart of Futurebuild 2023, but running through everything we do is the drive for innovation and sharing knowledge.

Trailblazing a path to innovation

As you walk around the event, you will see ground-breaking innovation everywhere. Central to this is the renowned Innovation Trail showcasing 14 Innovation Partners. The Trail will give you the opportunity to explore new solutions and meet industry leaders shaping the future. This year will also see the launch of FutureX Innovation, sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and in partnership with Ryder Architecture which will showcase 40 new players, creative start-ups, and SMEs driving net zero innovations. Don’t miss the Big Ideas Pitch, where you will see 9 of these companies pitch their ideas live!

Most ambitious knowledge programme yet

The main conference arena is sponsored by SRNG and ecobuild.brussels and curated by the Edge, a multidisciplinary think tank and is inviting all those involved in the built and natural environment to take part in our conference discussions based on looking forward, changing and taking action. With ‘Action’ being the critical requirement so make sure you get involved in the audience participation!

Across our eight show sections we have stages delivering our most ambitious seminar programme curated and delivered by over 90 industry leading partners and featuring a stellar line-up of over 300 speakers. Some key seminar themes up for debate are net zero, the scale and pace of retrofit and sustainable infrastructure.

Thank you

To all of you - we’re absolutely thrilled that you have taken the time to come together at Futurebuild – this is your opportunity to learn together, change together and most importantly, act together!

We’re ‘walking the talk’ by taking major steps towards a net zero future by implementing a series of exciting measures that are sure to make a difference.

First up, something you will notice immediately is that we have removed over 9,000 sqm of aisle carpets, eliminating the event’s biggest waste stream. This has led to a remarkable reduction of 27,707kg in carbon emissions from just the carpets alone.

We are also using the innovative REWIND carpet for our feature areas and shell scheme stand. Not only is it C2C certified silver, but it’s also latex-free and requires significantly less energy during production. By choosing REWIND, we’re reducing our carbon footprint and making it easier to handle and transport.

Next, we’re making it easy to recycle by using reusable stand systems and recyclable signage to dispose of waste in a more sustainable way. And we’re also going digital with an event app that eliminates the need for printed collateral.

Futurebuild is renowned for being the stage for innovation in the built environment and it’s fantastic to see them incorporating the circular designed, C2C Certified® event carpet REWIND, in both their feature areas and shell scheme stands. This has saved thousands of carbon kg’s (CO2e) as well as allowed for a fully circular carpet with known non-toxic dyes, all third party assessed and globally recognised as safe, circular and responsibly made.

We’re also taking a stand against single-use plastics in our catering. Our locally sourced and ethically produced menu is free from single-use plastics, and we’re even serving Carbon Neutral beer brand “Toast” and 100% Rainforest Alliance Coffee beans from Grand Café Coffee | UCC Coffee UK & Ireland.

Finally, we’re encouraging active travel and reducing emissions by partnering with the new Elizabeth line as the preferred travel option to the event from central London. Plus, we’re making it easy to cycle to the event with additional cycle storage and a social media campaign that rewards riders with a free hot drink.

Chaline Church Founding Partner of 540 WORLD To achieve a 28-tonne CO2 reduction from removing singleuse carpet manufactured from fossil fuel is impressive. To then remove the mounds of paper and printing generated by a big show is a further win.

Myglobalhome

MyGlobalHome’s sustainable property platform PropCode, provides the essential ESG data allowing lenders and property owners to measure, report and improve the carbon impact within the built environment in the drive towards net-zero. The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) requires landlords to ensure that by 2025 all newly rented properties reach an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C or above. A recent study showed 58% of UK housing stock had an EPC rating of D and below.

PropCode provides the necessary intelligence to certify ESG accreditation on both new and existing buildings, in real-time throughout their lifetime. Certified ESG data allows owners and lenders to streamline the complex ESG data reporting requirements, increasing the flow of impact capital into the built environment.

Calmfloor

Our contribution to Futurebuild’s Innovation Trail is CALMFLOOR. First brought to market in 2022, this ingenious unit is destined to have a major impact on how vibrations are dealt with in building projects. Despite being widely available for less than a year, CALMFLOOR systems have already been supplied to customers in the UK, Europe and the US.

CALMFLOOR technology works like noise cancelling headphones, by continuously monitoring floor vibrations and generating forces to cancel them out. This provides world-leading vibration control performance that can be used to fix problematic floors, improve floors for change of use etc. CALMFLOOR reduces material usage in new buildings and in-turn, their carbon footprint. This exceptional performance means that FSD Active becoming an Innovation Partner at Futurebuild 2023 is a logical course of action.

MPA The Concrete Centre

The Concrete Centre provides material, design and construction guidance. Our aim is to enable all those involved in the design, use and performance of concrete to realise the potential of the material. They provide published guidance, seminars, courses, online resources and industry research to the design community.
