Furnish for Good serves our neighbors in need by providing well-loved home furnishings to underserved communities through an experience of empowerment. We support Charlotte-area individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, poverty, and other dire circumstances through the effective reuse of quality home furniture and household donations. We move beyond simply handing out donated items – we transform lives through a process of empowerment, providing hope, dignity, and a renewed sense of possibility for every person and child we serve.
Me and my family will be able to have dinner at an actual dinner table where we can sit, eat, and discuss our day together.

As we close out another remarkable year at Furnish for Good, we are thrilled to share with you our 2023/2024 Annual Impact Report. This is an opportunity to celebrate not only the incredible impact we have made in transforming lives, but also the boundless generosity and dedication of individuals like you who have helped make it all possible. Over the past year, together, we have worked tirelessly to collect, inspect, repair, and rehome donated furniture across Charlotte, ensuring that every piece is not only beautiful but also sturdy and safe. We have also leaned in to our model of empowerment by providing our participants with the experience of choice. Your support has enabled us to:
Donate over 12,000 pieces of gently used furniture to local families in need, providing them with a foundation for comfort, stability, and independence.
Empower over 620 individuals and families to create warm, welcoming spaces in their homes, while providing the dignity of choice.
Partner with over 30 agencies to amplify our collective outreach and touch even more members of our community who are struggling.
As we look to the future, we are excited to build on this momentum and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. We invite you to continue with us on this journey – either through volunteering, financially supporting, or simply spreading the word – all will help expand our work.
Your ongoing support is crucial to our success, and we are eternally grateful for your trust in our mission.
Thank you for being part of our story and believing in us and what we do. Together, we are Furnish for Good!

Furnish for Good is a unique Charlottearea nonprofit providing furnishings to our neighbors in need through a process of choice and empowerment. The furniture, however, is our baseline. We strive to provide all the extras that make a house a home. In addition to moving clients’ furniture into their new homes once they’ve chosen it, we work with community partners and provide the first meal in the home, a set of five books for each person to set up family libraries, gift baskets tailored to the family or individual moving in, knickknacks and pillows, picture frames and artwork, dishes, cookware, placemats – all of these are included in every package that we deliver.
Since serving our first client in December 2019, we have provided over 80,000 furnishings and household items to over 2,000 people! Here are examples of some of our successes.
* Of the 620 people served in FY24, 191 were female adults, 193 were male adults and 236 were children.
FFG is enormously grateful for our volunteers, donors, and supporters. It is through their continued dedication, hard work, support, and heart that we can provide for our neighbors in need. We celebrate everyone who comes to us in every capacity – they allow us to make the impact we do.
A chance meeting on the light rail between our Director of Mission Delivery and Co-founder Lesley Faulker and Mark and Tina Hansen has grown into a beautiful partnership! Learning a bit about what Furnish for Good does sent Mark in for a tour when he retired and began looking to volunteer.
Seeing the workshop and where volunteers work to “make beautiful things” and that we use everything, Mark commented “I started coming in one day per week, then two days. I have always loved making dirty clean, making broken fixed, and making dull shiny.” It was a perfect fit, and he is often found repairing and building what is donated.
Once Tina retired, she joined Mark at FFG. They are both here weekly and can be found in their “areas.” Tina started doing a little bit of everything but says “I came to love the laundry area because when we send something out, it needs to be perfect – something that you would want to have in your house.”
We are lucky to see Mark fixing what’s broken and Tina perfecting all that goes out our doors and are blessed to have them with us as they reflect on their time at Furnish for Good: “We make beautiful things. People work so hard to get to this (transformational) time in their lives, they deserve something nice. We just like changing people’s lives.”
You have certainly changed ours!
Lowe’s, a leader in home improvement, and Furnish for Good, have come together once again this year in a powerful partnership aimed at making a tangible difference in the housing instability community in Charlotte. Through a combination of financial support, volunteerism, and furniture donations, this collaboration is creating a lasting impact for those who need it most.
Lowe’s continues to generously commit significant financial resources to FFG, ensuring we can expand our mission of delivering essential furniture to households
transitioning out of homelessness or facing financial hardship. These funds directly contribute to helping families create stable, welcoming homes.
In addition to financial backing, Lowe’s employees have rolled up their sleeves and contributed countless hours through volunteerism. Whether assembling furniture, assisting with delivery, or providing direct support, Lowe’s team members have been actively involved in helping with mission delivery. Their dedication goes beyond simply donating time, it is a personal investment in the wellbeing of our neighbors.
Lowe’s has also been instrumental in donating new and gently used furniture, ensuring that individuals and families have what they need as we move them into their new homes. These donations are crucial for creating environments that foster comfort and security. The partnership highlights the importance of not just providing a roof over someone’s head but also a space that feels like home.
We are profoundly grateful for our Lowe’s partnership, and it speaks volumes about the power of businesses and nonprofits uniting in a shared vision, demonstrating the power of community that can transform lives. Their ongoing collaboration is a testament to the impact of collective effort, showing that all acts of support—from financial contributions to hands-on volunteerism—can create monumental change.
Furnish for Good partners with over 30 local community agencies and organizations who provide referrals for the individuals and families (our “clients”) who need us most. Our clients, along with their Case Worker or Family Advocate, either visit our showroom or our online store to select furnishings and household goods they need to make their house a home. We are just one part of the process – we couldn’t do what we do without the dedication and collaboration of these partner agencies:

I wanted to convey how deeply grateful and pleasantly surprised my client was by the quality and abundance of furniture, as well as the thoughtful gift baskets she received. Thank you Furnish for Good for providing clients with such a wonderful opportunity to furnish their homes.

May 2025 board meeting
As Furnish for Good continues to grow and evolve from a volunteer-led to a staff-driven organization, we are establishing a Board committee to collaborate, write, and deliver a strategic plan. The Board will present a plan for the next three- to five-years at our May 2025 board meeting. We look forward to robust discussions of what is next for FFG!
The nonprofit landscape in Charlotte is moving! Furnish for Good is piloting our moving entity where we provide moving services to partner agencies – moving from one office location to another or moving clients into housing. This wrap-around service lets us be a larger part of clients’ moves and provide a service to partner agencies by trusted professionals at FFG.
The delivery team was so professional and so very courteous. FFG should be proud of all they do. It is so nice to be in a home I am proud of and to feel safe.

FFG was so humbled and honored to have been designated for gifts in memory of Traci Zeller (1974-2024) at Furnished 2024. Her impact on FFG and the entire design community in Charlotte lives on as a testimony to her.
