A Spotlight on Our Children’s Programs

“On behalf of Meigs North Elementary, thank you for the incredible support you provide our students and their families through the food bag program. What you offer is more than just food—It’s a bridge between school, home, and community.

“Many of our students come from low-income households where food insecurity is a daily struggle. Your food bags provide stability beyond the classroom, bringing comfort and relief to families who may otherwise go without. For our students, it means showing up on Monday ready to learn—without hunger clouding their focus.

“This partnership is a powerful example of what’s possible when local businesses, agencies, and schools work together. You’re not just feeding children—you’re fueling their futures and offering hope.

“To your generous partners: Please know your contributions matter deeply. You’re helping meet basic needs that allow our students to grow, learn, and thrive. You’re making a lasting difference.

“Thanks again for all you do.”

This year, we’ve supplied our children’s programs (Snack Packs, Summer Bags, and School Pantries) with over 140,000 pounds of food, equivalent to the weight of 11 2/3 African elephants.

“The Chattanooga Area Food Bank has been a great support to East Side Elementary for a number of years. The snack pack program has done a great deal to help our families. This program and organization are so important to the community. If we are worried about where or when our next meal will be, we are unable to do our jobs or concentrate in school. I have worked to make sure anyone who asks for a snack pack can get one.

Toward the end of every school year, we ask kids in our communities what they think about the foods in the snack packs. These are just a few of the handwritten letters we received in 2025.

What’s in a Snack

Pack?

“I have students who delight in the ability to help me pass out the snack packs because they know that they are doing a kind thing for others too. The program shows that there are kind people out there who want to do things for us. The food bank shows what is good with humanity.”

Every day, our dedicated volunteers make hundreds of Snack Packs at our Main Warehouse. We also deliver the ingredients across our service area for packs to be made on-site by school administrators and Hunger Relief Partners.
