Robert CurlinPart Time Visual Tech Team Leader

Nursery Provided (infants - age 3)

Are you feeling ”blue” because you are facing the holidays without a loved one? Maybe you are living with cancer or some other illness and wondering about your future. Perhaps you are confronting life after a separation or a divorce. Or, maybe you have lost a job or you are dealing with financial concerns. Whatever the reason, if you or someone you know is hurting and you are looking for a service that recognizes your suffering, you are invited to journey from the darkness toward God’s light.

Robert works with pastors, the First Awakening (FA) worship team and communications department to analyze needs for lyrics, sermons, videos and announcements. He creates visual presentations for projection screens in Clayton Hall for First Awakening, as well as for events such as First Friday Forum, Adventures in Learning, Charge Conferences, etc. He participates in the weekly worship planning meeting to finalize specific needs for each week, designs the layout, type, and motion graphics for all songs, communion, prayer, Bible passage, confirmand & sermon presentations. He edits (and sometimes shoots) videos as needed. Robert helps with specific research

for movie scenes to help the pastors illustrate a particular point. Highly experienced in using the Adobe Creative Suite and the ProPresenter system, Robert resizes and/ or redesigns provided graphics that are too “information heavy” and difficult to read when projected on screens.. Other responsibilities include directing the tech team by calling the cues and sending stage messages to those up front, and sets up the stage monitor to cue the singers, display times and keep those on stage on track. He also sets up for occasional videos in the 11 a.m. service in the Sanctuary as directed by pastors, coordinating with the tech team and Darian Krimm. Robert typically is at church each Sunday by 6:30 a.m. to input/update last minute announcement changes and sermon slides, in preparation for the First Awakening worship team rehearsal before the service. He also keeps up-to-date with computer, video & presentation software, trends updates and functionality.

Giving Time. Giving Tithes. Giving Thanks. Thanksgiving is almost here! Maybe you’re preparing for it by shedding a couple pounds. Maybe you’re just buying bigger pants. Jackson FUMC has been celebrating the holiday for more than a month through our “Signs of Thanksgiving” stewardship campaign. For the past four and a half weeks, we’ve highlighted the blessings God has given our church through your tithes and offerings. You’ve met some of the church staff, learned about church facilities, heard stories from a couple of the ministries we support and visually noticed signs of Thanksgiving in the halls.

THANKS

g n i v i G

Now, you’re ready to fill out that Commitment Card (if you haven’t already.) You received the card as an attachment to the brochure in your stewardship packet. Through it, you can demonstrate your thankfulness by devoting tithes, financial gifts, prayer, presence, service or witness. Return the card by placing it in the envelope found in your packet, and mail it to the church or turn it into your Sunday School class.

If you like, you can also return your Commitment Card while enjoying one of the season’s greatest pleasures—a Thanksgiving feast. Jackson FUMC is hosting its second annual Thanksgiving dinner tonight, and we’ll be collecting cards during the event. We’re also collecting Commitment Cards during Celebration Sunday on Nov. 22. As always, you may give online at www.jacksonfumc.org. Thanks for celebrating God’s gifts this autumn. Above all, we’re grateful for you—the members of our congregation.
