The evidence of physical violence can be seen: black eyes, bruises, bloodshed, injuries, scratches, and scars. Perhaps we have been witness to physical violence in a relationship whether it’s our next-door neighbor, friend, co-worker, stranger in the street or someone in our own family. The terror of overhearing a profanity laced argument turn brutal when there are crashes of furniture being overturned, children crying, or the deafening sound of a woman’s shrill giving warning to all within ear reach that fear is in the air. On the other hand, what if you don’t see the bruises from the consequence of hitting, grabbing, pushing or other physical forms of harm? Mental and emotional abuse is covert and invisible. No one knows what the victim is going through unless they confide in someone they can trust.

The sight of seeing a woman in an abusive relationship is horrible especially if they feel they are unable to leave. External or internal invoked fear paralyzes the “get-up and go” within individuals which causes them to become stuck, never taking a step forward towards self-love, peace, and harmony. No matter how many jokes or self-help/spiritual quotes you may say to help lift her moodshe may give a faint smile or nod of acquiescence, but you know that things will never change until she becomes intolerant of her oppressive environment and departs. Until ones internal belief system of positive truth self-awareness shifts, they will remain in victim mode.

Psychology Today states, “The emotional abuse cycle follows the same pattern as that of physical abuse — once the victim of emotional abuse figures out what’s going on and starts thinking about leaving or seriously calls the abuser on his actions, the abuser will suddenly become very apologetic and romantic, trying to woo her back into the fold. He will buy flowers, cook suppers, tend to the children, or whatever else he has to do to make her believe that what she thinks she saw, what she believes to be true, is actually false. No, he is a perfectly good husband or partner, and there is absolutely no reason for her to be thinking about leaving. But as soon as she comes back around and begins to trust that he will no longer emotionally abuse her, he starts back up with the same old abusive patterns. Now, it is harder for her to leave, because she has begun to believe in him again.

Emotional abuse is a painful and serious pattern of abuse in which the primary effort is to control someone by playing with their emotions. We dumb down the implications of emotional abuse by mislabeling minor interactional issues as emotional abuse.”

Below, are some identifiers, which can help pinpoint, the behavioral signs in a physically or mentally abusive mate:

1. Verbal-Abuse- name calling 2. Isolation and Alienation from friends and family 3. Criticism 4. Shaming, Blaming and Sarcasm 5. Punishment 6. Threats 7. Lack of Respect for your Privacy 8. There are some of us who have experienced physical violence in a relationship first hand. What did you do to get out of that relationship or are you still there? If you are in an abusive relationship or know someone in one here are some tips to start with:

1. Tell Someone 2. Keep a Record/Journal of all incidents 3. Save all communication- repeated calls or electronic communication 4. Develop a Plan 5. Trust your Instincts 6. Contact local authorities/ restraining order

FBM: What are some of your hobbies or things you enjoy doing in your spare time?

JAQUII: I enjoy working out in my spare time as I like feeling strong. I enjoy doing Pilates and dance classes and feel free doing them.

FBM: What is your most memorable experience since being a model?

JAQUII: My most memorable experience in my career was being able to shoot with a makeup line that I have been wanting to for a while and it goes to show that what is for you will come to you if you let it be.

JAQUII: Some obstacles that I have encountered have been in the form where people won't accept me as is. Where my size isn't really represented but I'm looking to change that and hope to do so with the work I have been doing.

FBM: What advice or last words do you have for women reading this magazine?

JAQUII: Be your true self as the only person you need to please is yourself and no one can take away your true essence.

FBM: Hello Courtney Larisa. You went on a show called "Ready To Love" on the OWN Network. Please tell the readers why love is so important to you.

COURTNEY: Love makes the world go round. Everyone needs love, in some shape, form, and/or capacity.

FBM: What do you suggest singles do on Valentine’s Day? COURTNEY: I suggest singles, get out, mix, and mingle on Valentine's Day. Spend the day with whomever you love, whether it be friends, family, your kids, etc. It's a day of love and if you don't have a lover, spend it with someone you love, or find a sexy singles dance and meet new people.

Or if you're cool with being alone on Valentine's Day, do you and whatever floats your boat! I get that some people are perfectly content with being single and that in itself is a beautiful thing.

FBM: So if you did have a special someone, would you be going on a date for Valentines?

COURTNEY: Most likely I would, but then again I'm a home body. I'd be perfectly happy at home cooking and enjoying each other's company.

FBM: What would you do?

COURTNEY: If I did go out on a date I'd like a nice relaxing spa day filled with facials and massages, dinner reservations, and then home to a nice relaxing romantic bubble bath.

FBM: What is the most memorable Valentine’s Day for you?

COURTNEY: My most memorable Valentine's Day, was a surprise road trip to Louisiana.

We stayed at a casino, I was playing blackjack and my boyfriend at that time disappeared for over an hour. I called him and he told me he went to the room because he wasn't feeling well. So I went to the room to check on him and discovered that he had decorated the entire room with rose petals and roses everywhere, he had candles, a bubble bath, the works. It was so perfect. I was so surprised because that was the last thing I would've ever expected. We had a beautiful Valentine's Day weekend. I even left the casino a few grands richer.

FBM: Is love overrated?

COURTNEY: Love is definitely not overrated.

Love is absolutely one of the most beautiful things in life, especially when it's pure and true. I think so many people misuse and abuse the term and the action of love, that people have become afraid of love, no one wants to be hurt. But, is important to realize that love in its purest and truest form doesn't hurt, love feels amazing! Love is LOVE; it's when you mix it with uncertainty, games, lies, deceit, etc‌ That's when it hurts.

FBM: In your mind what is one thing more important than love.

COURTNEY: In my opinion nothing. Love is necessity; it's what makes us human before anything else. Self-love, love for others, the ability to feel compassion for one another. As I stated earlier, love makes the world go round. We all need love. It's an intricate part of the human experience.

FBM: Would you ever do a show like that again? If not what is your next level?

COURTNEY: As long as I'm single, yes I would. Why not? People find love in strange places every day. You never know what road may lead you to your soulmate. My next level is keeping myself busy with my Allhealth365.com website, my credit repair tours, and upcoming speaking/hosting engagements.

I've always heard that you find love when you least expect it, so I guess it's safe to say I'm prepared to expect the unexpected.
