Company News Blood Donation Event..with a twist As you already know, we are unable to organise and host our mid-year Blood Donation event due to the current pandemic, which is beyond everybody’s control. However, all hope is never lost. We received confirmation that the National Blood Transfusion Service in Gwardamangia will be functioning as per usual during these upcoming months. We are glad to announce that in order to celebrate World Blood Donor Day which occurs on June, we are encouraging you that during the month of June you find some time to go to the National Blood Transfusion Service and donate blood at their premises. We also encourage you to take a photo whilst there, and send it to us via e-mail so we create a collage of these heroes and share it onto our social media platforms to encourage more companies and/or individuals to support this noble cause.

Mother's Day

For Mother’s Day, we took some of our time to surprise our loving mothers with a beautiful personalised card, as you can see on the photo of the left. It’s not easy to work when having children but all our mummies manage to balance that amazingly even though it’s so challenging. This card was also an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for their hard work.

Company News An Introduction to Microsoft Teams What If Analysis We are glad to announce that we have added a new function to the Microsoft Excel Training on NEST. This new tool can be found on topic four and is labelled “What-If Analysis”. What is a “What-If Analysis”? A what-if analysis scenario is fairly easy to understand – put simply, your question is; If this happens, what happens to my numbers, or bottom line? In other words, if we reduce our expenses by EUR100 over the next few months, how bigger our percentage of savings will be? We are confident you will find this function extremely useful whilst working on your daily tasks.

Soft Skills Training

The Group is planning further interactive surprise events for Travel Agents up till November 2021. “Of course, destination training courses through eMag will not be neglected either, but fun should be the main incentive for a great start to the holiday season. As long as public events are not possible, we will use digital events to create incentives and new opening perspectives for a restart of the industry” sums up Richy Reindl.

FTI News FTI360 Booking Tool

Earlier this year, the Group’s Tour Operators have launched its tried and tested tool for planning individual trips for package destinations. FTI is expanding its sales tool to make it easier for Travel Agencies to book individual holiday requests and also to give guests freedom of design according to the modular principle. FTI Group Managing Director, Ralph Schiller, adds: ”By July we plan to integrate this system in all destinations and at the same time connect them to the eMag. This allows our guests to have a tailor-made vacation put together by travel experts, determine the length of stay, flight, and hotel themselves, and combine them to a round trip”. The handling is very user-friendly: Using the tool’s filter function, Travel Agents can generate an individual travel program for vacationers in which they put together departure airports and times, length of stay, and hotels from a wide selection. Round trips and excursions can also be selected, whereby all options are shown with detailed service descriptions including the respective price surcharges or discounts.

A Typical Day with... Marco Magri IT and Premises Senior Manager

12 | THE VOICE | A Typical Day with...

The Head of IT and Premises team in Malta, is one who’s always on the go but is also always there if someone asks for assistance. When we spoke with Marco, he started off by saying that life is so unpredictable and that things can change our lives in a short period of time, and that’s why he prefers to take life as it comes, day by day. Most of the time he doesn’t find it a problem to wake up early in the morning, and his daily routine is to check office systems from his computer, shower, breakfast, run for some errands, and then straight to office where the routine ends. A day at the office is a roller coaster for Marco, never a monotonous day because in IT you will never know what will crop up and sometimes all your planned agenda has to be put aside to tackle these urgent unplanned issues, but it’s the thrill of the job he says as these challenges will help you gain more knowledge and experience. Marco has quite a few hobbies and interests, but his main passion is cars with a soft spot for Ford Classic cars. This passion came from when he was young as used to go to the garage each day after school to work with his dad on cars. His dad used to spray cars after work and Marco used to give a helping hand but he was more inclined on the mechanical and electrical side of cars. Every Saturday he would be at the garage doing work on his friends cars and always learning something new. As time went by on his 18th birthday, his dad gave Marco a 1971 Cortina Mark 3 and from that day Marco set a target to have a collection of Ford Classic cars. Today he has a very nice collection of Ford cars some of which are Cortina Mark 3, Capri Mark3, Escort Mark1 Fiesta Mark 3 and more. His wife also liked cars but even though she was British, her favourite brand was the Italian Alfa Romeo. She always dreamt of having an Alfa 147 as a daily driver and a Alfa 33 as a classic. Luckily this was an easy task for Marco and he made sure this became a reality for her and today these two cars are part of his collection too. Marco is also part of Rosello Cassar Racing Team which races in the quarter mile track of Hal Far. He had the opportunity to travel with this team and race in Santa Pod in the UK. One of his goals and dreams which he is currently working on, is to have his own garage with all his car collection under one roof, and enjoy his free time working around from one car to another, and also add a Ford American Muscle car to his collection. Last one hopefully he says!!!! Whatever the job is, you can call in Marco and he is there to the rescue hence why they also call him Bob ;). He ended up our chat by sending out a message that everything starts with a wish or dream and if you set realistic goals everything is achievable one way or another. Just don’t be obsessed with it, enjoy life, have fun, and make memories nothing will make you happier. Respect your family and friends as no matter what your goal is, you will achieve it easier with the support of family and friends. I experienced this first hand, and I am one lucky guy to have a great family and awesome friends that I can call my second family too.

Employee Milestone by Kurt Desira and Clive Gauci

Coincidence made them colleagues and now ended up playing in the same football team. Clive: After his first football experience with Hibernians F.C., Clive gained further valuable experience by joining the senior team of Pieta Hotspurs F.C., later Sirens F.C., and most recently Zebbug Rangers F.C. in Malta’s First Division league now known as “Challenge League”. Ahead of next season, he joined Gzira United F.C. in Malta’s Premier league. For sure, this will be a challenging experience for Clive, but we are certain that through his constant hard work and dedication, he will make the most of this experience that will help him grow both as a player and more importantly as a person. Kurt: Football for him is a big passion! It was and still is his favourite sport since the young age of five. He dedicates most of his time to work and football, describing the latter as one of his main priorities in life. The move from one club to another, make Kurt feel more enthusiastic for this sports as it gives him another perspective of football. This transfer will also be a great experience to Kurt who will be going through a new journey in his personal life that will help him progress and learn further. “From a very young age, I have grown up in a football environment since my father has always shown interest in the game. I started practicing football with my hometown team Zabbar St. Patricks F.C. since I was four and joined Hibernians F.C. at the age of 15 rather than just a hobby, football has become a big part of my lifestyle due to the daily training commitments.” We wish both Clive and Kurt the best of luck in their new stints with Gzira United F.C..
