As the Aletheia Duo, Jonathan Keeble and Ann Yeung share a passion for bringing the creative possibilities of the music of today to their audiences. Uniquely poised as artist-citizens for the 21st century, they are award-winning Professors of Music at the University at Illinois Urbana-Champaign with internationally distinguished studios and Past Presidents of their respective national professional organizations. Their evocative performances have been described as having “lyricism, and above all, magic (Flutist Quarterly)” and “A spectacular pairing (Harp Column).” Individually recognized as two of the leading performers and pedagogues of their generation with a commitment to advocating for the next generation of creative artists-citizens, they have performed throughout the world together since 2002.
Jonathan Keeble is known for his rich tone, effervescent personality, and nuanced musicality. In high demand as performing artist and master class clinician. He has been described as having an “infinitely flexible sound, with many subtle colors,” and is among the leading performer/pedagogues of his generation. He is a regular performer, adjudicator, and presenter at National Flute Association (NFA) conventions, and is a Past President of the Association. In 2023 he became the 51-year-old Association’s 15th recipient of its Distinguished Service Award. Recent tours include appearances on concert series and festivals in New Zealand, Brazil, Australia, Ecuador, South Korea, Hong Kong, and throughout the United States.
He has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Kansas City Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and in chamber recitals with Yo-Yo Ma, Renée Fleming, and Luciano Pavarotti, among others. His critically acclaimed recordings as soloist, and as a member of the Prairie Winds and Aletheia Duo are available on Albany Records.
Keeble is the flutist for the award-winning Prairie Winds and Aletheia Duo, and Principal Flute of the Sinfonia da Camera. He spends summers performing and teaching at Aria International, the Orford Musique, and at the University of Illinois Pre-College Flute Seminar.
