Welcome Dear Customer Thank you for choosing The LifeRoom. This guide is designed to make the installation easier.

Before you commence installation of the room, please take a moment to read these three introductory pages before reading the rest of the guide.

LatiumUSA is very proud of its LifeRoom. We have continued to invest to improve and simplify the installation process, something the homeowner will appreciate and that should make your life easier.

Any feedback- positive or negative – is welcomed so we can make the LifeRoom even better!

General Points Care should be taken when handling components that are seen by the homeowner, as surfaces may be scratched if not handled with care. Choose a suitable area for unpacking the components and always check them before fitting. Any claims for missing or damaged parts are only accepted in line with our standard terms and conditions of sale.

Health and Safety Site safety is particularly important. The installation company shall be responsible for the safety of all the fitting team, the customer and members of the public.

The surveyor should have carried out a risk assessment to reduce risk on site and this should have been discussed with you prior to starting.

Please use safe working platforms and ladders. Always use equipment in line with manufacturers’ recommendations. Personal protective equipment – such as goggles, mask and ear defenders should be used when, for example, cutting aluminum on the chop saw.

Careful consideration should be given to the safe disposal of all packaging – LifeRoom packaging is predominately made from recycled materials and can be readily recycled.

Product The LifeRoom kit is supplied with the roof panels, front 3x8 headers, variable eaves and motorized screens precut/assembled to an exact dimension specific to your site. Dimensional changes cannot be made onsite.

Step One – Set Out LifeRoom height should clear out swinging doors and windows.

The slab/deck should be checked for level – LifeRoom requires a flat surface. This should have been reviewed by the surveyor prior to installation.

Measure the total Hanger height from the ground starting at (A) or (B) (whichever is the highest point) and make a mark on wall.

Snap a chalk line across (C) and check for level.

Measure overall roof width (see spec sheet) and make a mark at each end.

Plumb Line down on each end to slab/deck (A) and (B).

WARNING Before attaching hanging channel to fascia board or wall, you must determine rafter or stud spacing so that attachment screws will drive into each of the above members and provide necessary support to the LifeRoom. Spacing is usually 16�. Masonry installation will require anchor screws purchased locally.

Measure out one foot on each side from Ridge attachment face.

Snap a chalk line across the two points (A) Square out from left side Measure out to the post center projection –(minus 1ft) and make a mark on slab/deck.

Mark the post center and position setout template.

Pre Drill 1/4” holes (if required) into hanging channel Cut Hanger ¾” shorter than the roof width.

Apply a generous amount of sealant to rear of ridge.

Attach hanger using the correct fixings, as instructed in the engineering

Measure in 5 ½” in from total room width Measure a minimum of 80 1/16” from floor to bottom of bracket. If you have adequate mounting height for hanging channel, then mount bracket at 84” to 85” from floor to bottom of bracket.

Attach the bracket to the wall. Ensure you use the correct fixing for wall type.

 

 

Repeat the previous steps on the opposite side.

Measure overall outside width outside to outside bracket (this is on spec sheet if standard size).

Verify height dimension.

Check Level – Take time to complete this step thoroughly.

Place setout template on floor where you previously marked the post center.

Center hole in template (shown by green arrow) should be on your post center marking.

Ensure notches in template align with your Caulk lines.

All these dimensions are per spec sheet.

  

Step Two – Frame  

   

Hold one of the posts up on the post bracket and set out template .

Get a second person to hold header D in the bracket on house wall and level across header (D).

Ensuring post level, mark top surface of beam on post and front surface of post on beam Cut beam on this line Add 2 1/16” to the line on post and cut Repeat this step on the other side





Position brackets 1/16” lower down to clear the seam on the 3x8 beam.

Fix the brackets in place using ¼” x 3/4” tek screws, 8 each per bracket.

Pre-drill 1/4” holes at every 12” o.c. in pairs starting 6” in from each end.  

Locate Header A. This was used when setting the templates.

Place the bottom eaves in place

There should be 3” overhang on each side

Fix the Bottom Eave to the header using 1/4 x 1 1/4” Tek screws if using steel C-Beam or 1/4” x 5/4” SMS when just using header (A).

Lay Header (A) assembly flat in preparation for the fitting of the posts.

Ensure you push the bracket in fully. The bracket should not be visible.

Beam A is precut to a critical dimension by us. It is the control for the screens to fit effortlessly.

 

Fix the posts in place using ¼’ x ¾” Tek Screws Only do this on BACK side, opposite the eaves pivot

Slide posts over the Brackets

THE POST BRACKETS CAN BE ROTATED 90° RELATIVE TO THE SETOUT TEMPLATE. THIS IS TO ALLOW FOR ANY CRACKS/ GAPS IN THE SLAB/DECK. This should be accounted for in the Step one setouts



Ensure that posts are plumb on both directions.



Secure with 1/4” x 1 1’4” TEK screws, four on each side of the post.



   

Pre-drill clearance hole in Headers (D), as demonstrated below.

Attach header D to the house wall and post.

Leave a 2 1/16” from top of header D to the top of post. Fasten in place using 1/4” x 3/4” TEK screws.

Cut header (D) to correct length and is up tight against the wall.

Locate Header (B). This is 6” longer than Header (A).

Through drill 6 holes like shown on top surface.

First set at 1” from end of beam and second at 4” from end of beam. Using a 5/8” hole.

Attach Header B to the frame, using ¼” x ¾” TEK screws flush with the bottom of Header (A).

Locate Header C (2x6”) and through drill 1 1/2” in from end and 1 1/2” down and up on both ends and in the center of header (C).



Attach header (C) to the underside of Header (A) & (B)

Ensure the front of header (C) is flush with the front face of Header (B).



The basic frame should resemble what's shown in the image.

Attach 3x8” bracket to underside of header (D).

If you have purchased the LifeRoom wiring harness please refer to the directions included in the packaging.



Position lower 3x8” bracket directly below the top one. Verify this is aligned correctly using a plumb line.



Attach to slab/deck using the appropriate connection method. There are 6 fasteners shown in image, in most case only four will be required .



Repeat the previous steps on the other side.

Locate Headers (F).



Verify height from floor to underside of header (D) and cut to length.





Notch out the top and bottom of the beam so as to allow you to slide over top and bottom brackets.

The bracket the beam is required to fit over.



Locate the 2” screen frame.



These should be cut to the same length as Header (D).

Add 5/8” plugs to every through hole

Locate the foam clips



Rotate and lock in place

When in place the foam should rest on top of the earlier fixing.



Repeat this step on the other side of the room.



Ensure build resembles the image on the right.

The gap should be on the outside corner .

Locate the Small column claddings



Verify the dimention from floor to underside of headers

Cut to length



Cut and de-bur claddings

Align and clip together. This should be done by hand with a firm bang from each side

When this is done, your frames should look something like image on the right



Repeat the previous steps with the other side.



Hold assembled claddings vertically and slide in.



Ensure this is done evenly top and bottom.



Locate the outer Cladding + another smaller cladding.



Cut to length and align together, then clip together by hand.

Align the front claddings ensuring the top and bottom is moved in evenly.



Clip together by hand .



Depending upon how the cusmer wants the water drainage...you should notch out this detail on the front face of the larger cladding now.



This will be covered by the vinyl scupper.



The post is now clad off



Repeat the previous steps on the other side to clad off both columns.

Locate the fan housing bottom



Position on top of column and fix in place.

Cut the flange off on one side. The side opposite the relief for the seam on the beam (seam on the beam is always to the top

As an additional precaution, please also seal with the supplied duct tape.

Locate the duct inserts and their specific installation instructions

Fit them and ensure they are tight and have a secure seal.



Place the completed beam on the fan housings and take care in ensuring this is perfectly centered.



Cut the foam so it fills the space from the end of the slotted beam to the side beam.

Push supplied tubing into Tee’s. Ensure its pushed in firmly until there is a definitive stop.



Cut tubing using the supplied RED tube cutter located in the Mist pump packaging.

Place a Misting Tee’s above each slot. Dependent on your location, the local humidity levels may dictate the use of 4 Tee’s only. The higher the humidity the fewer Tee’s required.

PUSH IN 1/4” TUBING



Using the supplied tube clips, secure the tubing in place. 1 1/2” gap from Tee either side. The face of the nozzle should be flush with the face of the beam to prevent drips.



At the end of the room opposite the mist pump location. Push in 4ft of tubing and attach the 90° pressure valve (located in the mist pump packaging)



This will be pushed into the gutter at a later

Install filter and pump and run water through both with pump on for 30 seconds Install mist line (without misting nozzles) and turn on pump for 10 seconds Install misting nozzles into the first 3 nozzle tees and turn on pump for 10 seconds Repeat step 3 until all misting nozzles are installed

Measure from the ridge to the eave + 8” for roof panel dimension



Hold tape on the small tab on the ridge



Cut roof panels to this dimension



Insert first center panel horizontally into ridge ensuring its pushed in fully



It should be 8” from inside of ridge to outside of panel



Find the center of the ridge and make a small mark



Find center of eaves beam and make a small mark



Align center of first panel to these marks



Repeat the process with the remaining panels



On some widths you may be required to cut the end panels down to match the width of the ridge .

Install the wall screen track



If the house has siding, you must cut it out to prevent gaps



Fit j channel to finish the aesthetic.



Install the upper screen track



Follow the same procedure as the lower



Run a bead of caulking along the inside lip shown in the image



Push the gutter on the panel and secure in place



It should be the same width as the roof

Locate the front screen housing



It will be fully assembled



The installed gutter should look like this

Check that all burrs have been removed from each end as this will cause a sealing issue at a later stage





Remove the pre assembled screen motor by depressing the spring end



Put somewhere safe away from water

Remove the front cover by removing the screw at each end. The cover will then rotate off

Prior to drilling, make sure side rails are in correct orientation. For hole locations, see figure 1. Starting at 2” from the bottom and using a 1/4” bit, drill every 12”, last hole should be 3” from the top.

Snap open the 2-piece side rails, and ONLY mount the back piece to LifeRoom Column.

Using 3/8” drill bit, drill through side cap and hood. Insert rubber grommet into drilled hole.

Step 11. Install back section of the right side rail using the marked points for top and outside measurements.

ONLY FASTEN TOP AND BOTTOM ANCHORS. Note: Top fastener should not be closer than 3� to top of side IMPORTANT: Side rail MUST BE installed plumb and flush for proper operation of elements Screen curtain.

Step 12. Remove front of hood assembly.

NOTE: If Entry Guide WS9002 is not previously installed in side cap.

Insert the entry guide marked with an L into the track on the left side cap and the one marked with an R into the right side cap.

Step 13. Hold hood assembly in place using side rails to brace it.* Before fastening hood assembly, check that it is level, and that the outside of the side caps are perfectly aligned with the outside of the side rails. Once level and aligned, anchor top screw ONLY of left and right side cap using pre-drilled holes in side caps. *Hood assembly must be held until fasteners are secured. Side rails alone will not support weight of hood.

Fasten bottom anchors of side cap, ensuring that hood is level and outside of side cap is flush with outside of side rail.

Attach remaining anchors in the pre-drilled holes, and attach front section of side rail.*

Take the screen with assembled bottom bar (shown to right) and start the installation by inserting the screen through the entry guide and side rails starting with the bottom bar.

Step 18. Feed the screen by hand until the bottom bar reaches the bottom of the side rails.

Be sure to feed zipper into entry guides evenly to avoid wrinkling fabric or damaging zipper teeth.

Installation | Screen Step 20.

Feed motor wire through grommet affixed to hole in side cap.

Connect motor to power supply according to motor instructions.

Step 21. Carefully remove packaging from the screen roll. Hold the roll vertically and begin to slide the screen in.

Ensure the side zippers are facing out.

Inward facing zippers will cause permanent damage when screen is rolling up.

Step 22. Synchronize remote to motor using the programming instructions, once synchronized, position the motor tubes zipper groove facing towards yourself.

Set limits for motors .

IMPORTANT: When setting upper limit bottom bar should not reach retract above side rails. Stop the bottom bar approximately 1/2� below top of side rails.

Note: If channel display number “stays” lit when up or down button is held, then remotes is in LED Dim/Bright section. Please refer to Step D in Section 2 of Dim/Bright function section to switch back to “motor control function”.

1. LED Receiver Programming A. Be sure power to receiver is off, and the remote is on Channel 1. (The first red light at the top of remote will indicate you are on channel 1)

B. Turn on Power to Receiver

C. Within 5 seconds, tap the “stop” and “light” key at the same time.

D. LED lights will now power on, or off, using the light button.

2. LED Receiver Programming for Dim/Bright Function A. Press and “hold the light button” for 5 seconds. The first red light at top of remote (Channel 1) display will “flash” two times.

B. Now the “up button” will make the LED lights brighter.

C. Now the “down button” will make the LED lights dimmer.

D. To switch back to “motor control function”, press and “hold” the light button for 5 seconds, until the “channel 1 display light” flashes two times. The remote is now in “motor control function.” (The first red light at the top of remote will indicate you are on channel 1)

CAUTION: If momentary function (you must hold the down key in order for screen to go down) is disabled, re-engage momentary function by holding stop button for 5 seconds, then pressing the stop button again. This will reactivate the momentary function.

LED/Hybrid Series Programming Motor with Built-In Receiver and Mechanical Limits NOTE: Never leave a cooling motor unattended and energized electrically.

IMPORTANT: Read

Safety/LED Light 6-channel option

through all instructions BEFORE beginning programming.

Thermal cut off  Each motor has a Thermal Cut Off to prevent motor from over heating. Factory set limit is about 4 minutes of operation.

NOTE: This is a thermal setting and not a timed setting. The environmental condition of the job site will shorten the operating time before the Thermal Cut Off will activate.  Allow at least 20 minutes of cooling time (it may take up to 45 minutes) before the motor will return to regular operation.  The motor will resume motion from last signal provided to the mini receiver.

Note: Arrows on the motor show the movement of the motor tube which is opposite of the direction of the curtain (Ie: Arrow up on motor is Down adjustment).

Caution 

Motors stops are not set when initially installed.



The curtain can be over extended when lowered, causing damage to the system. Alternatively, curtain can be wound up inside the hood pulling the slats out of the side rails curtain to the motor tube.

 Be prepared to stop motor at any moment while setting the motor stop limits.

1. Programming hand held remote to operate with built-in receiver.

A. For a multi channel remote, select the channel on the remote to be programmed by pressing channel button until the desired channel is displayed in the LED window.

B. To Place the motor in Programming Mode: Press and hold UP button until remote display stays constant.

C. Within 3-5 seconds, motor will start beeping. ♫♫♫

D. While motor is still beeping, release the UP button and then tap the UP Button again; you will hear 3 consecutive beeps ♫♫♫ confirming programming.

♫♫♫

Continuing to hold UP button, connect motor to power supply.

Check if motor direction is operating correctly. If not, proceed to step 2

4. ADDING REMOTE CONTROL INSTRUCTION (optional) ProceedADDITIONAL to step 3, 4, and 5 needed 1. Push & holdasthe stop button on the remote that is programed to the motor. Within 3-5 second the motor will start beeping . At that time release the stop button.

2. Using remote control to be added, select channel to be programmed.

3. On new remote push the up button until the motor beeps, confirming successful programming.

5. Delete Hand Held Remote from Hybrid Motor A. For a multi channel remote, select the channel on the remote to be deleted by pressing channel buttons until the desired channel is displayed at top in the channel indicator light window.

B. With the motor power connected, press and hold the STOP button until beeping sounds.

C. While the motor is beeping (approx. 5 seconds), press the RESET button on back of the remote with a paperclip; hold until you hear 3 beeps ♫♫♫.

♫♫♫ Selected ♫♫♫ channel is now deleted.

Finding the Lower Limit 1. Power the motor in the down direction and stop within 12” of the bottom.

2. If the motor stops prior to the 12” you have found the Lower Limit, proceed to Setting the Lower Limit .

3. If the motor did not stop prior to reaching 12” from the bottom, insert the motor adjustment tool into the limit switch (refer to picture for motor orientation), and rotate clockwise several times.

4. Power the motor in the down direction again. If it does not move you have found the Lower Limit. Proceed to Setting the Lower Limit.

When motor is on the right side, adjust yellow limit switch.

When motor is on the left side, adjust white limit switch.

Setting the Lower Limit 1. Once the limit has been found, the limit must be set.

NOTE: Make sure the motor is still powered in the down direction. If motor is left in a state of rest for more than 4 minutes, power has been cut off and the limits cannot be set.

In this case, power the motor in the down direction to restart electrical current.

2. Insert the motor adjustment tool into the Limit Switch (refer to picture for motor orientation).

3. To lower the curtain until the curtain is in the fully closed position, rotate the Hex Wench counterclockwise.

Counterclockwise lowers curtain limit.

Clockwise raises curtain limit.

Finding the Upper Limit 1. Power the motor in the up direction and stop within 12” of the top.

2. If the motor stops prior to the 12” you have found the Upper Limit. Proceed to Setting the Upper Limit.

3. If the motor did not stop prior to reaching 12” from the top, insert the motor adjustment tool into the Limit Switch (refer to picture for motor orientation), and rotate either clockwise.

4. Power the motor in the down direction again. If it does not move you have found the Upper Limit. Proceed to Set-

LifeRoom Screen Common Problems and Solutions Fail – Phenomena

Failure Causes

Bottom bar will not lower completely

A. Tracks may not be parallel B. Tracks may have a twist C. Track may have a dent in the slot that the zipper sides in D. Wind will cause the bottom bar to stop while lowering E. Tracks may be adjusted too far in or out F. There may be obstruction inside the track.

Screen doesn’t travel down tracks smoothly

A. Tracks may not be parallel B. Tracks may have a twist C. Track may have a dent in the slot that the zipper sides in D. Wind will cause the bottom bar to stop while lowering E. Tracks may be adjusted too far in or out F. Adjustment screw securing inner track may be sticking out.

G. There may be obstruction inside the track.

Solutions Failure Recovery

A. Remove and reinstall left track making sure measurements are correct and track is being installed exactly parallel.

A.Install shim tape on out motor tube to level bottom bar.

B. Place a temporary spacer under low side of bottom bar so that felt fills the gap, then remove/reinstall spline.

Spline in hard to install

You may be trying to install the spline in the wrong slots

A. The Roller has four slots. Only one of the will accept screen spline.

Spline Sizes: .125 & .160 B. Identify spline .160 for Tuff screen and .125 for all others

Screen comes out of track

A. Zipper may not be installed in slot B. Upper motor limit may be set to high C. Screen may be offset/not centered on tube.

D. Tube may not be leveled.

A. Make sure the zipper is installed correctly in track of the side rail. If not, reinstall.

B. Check the setting of the upper limit on the motor. The bottom bar should always stay engaged in the track.
