As we reflect on the past year, we are reminded that our strength as an organization lies in our people—both our residents and our dedicated staff. Through our holistic approach to wellness—focusing on the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of residents—we have enhanced the quality of life for more than 900 seniors who live in our Fellowship Square communities. In 2024, our residents participated in 189 events and programs at our Fellowship Houses. Our Resident Services and Property Management teams worked to offer increased access to health resources, social activities, and community engagement, ensuring that every resident feels supported and empowered.
None of this would be possible without our exceptional team. The Fellowship Square staff and Property Management teams are the backbone of our organization, and investing in their growth and development is a top priority. In 2024, we continued to focus on professional development to strengthen our workforce including a multi-day retreat with our staff and Board of Directors.
We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors, volunteers, and partners who make our mission possible.
We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors, volunteers, and partners who make our mission possible. In 2024, volunteers of all ages donated 1,825 hours of service to our seniors, including helping deliver over 56,000 pounds of food to our residents. Your generosity and commitment enable us to provide affordable housing and essential services to those in need. As we move forward, we do so with a renewed focus on strengthening our organization by investing in our people, enhancing the lives of our residents, and engaging in new opportunities to provide affordable housing for seniors who struggle to make ends meet.
Thank you for being part of our Fellowship Square family. Together, we will continue to build a vibrant, supportive community where older adults can live with dignity, purpose, and joy.
With gratitude,
Fellowship Square

Regina Haring’s journey to Fellowship Square Foundation is a testament to resilience and the power of finding a true home. Born in 1936 in Vienna, Austria, Regina experienced the hardships of World War II firsthand. She lived through the Nazi occupation of Austria, enduring bomb attacks and daily fear as a young child. In 1952, at the age of 16, Regina arrived in America through the Lutheran World Relief Service, describing it as “the happiest day of our lives.”
Hunters Woods Fellowship House has become more than just a place to live; it’s a vibrant community she calls home. She appreciates the accessibility of Reston and the kindness of its residents. “I really appreciate that I can stay here in one spot,” Regina says, contrasting her current stability with the insecurity of her early years.
Now 88 years old, Regina looks forward to many more years as an active member of the Hunters Woods Fellowship House community. After a childhood marked by uncertainty and displacement, she has found lasting security and happiness. Regina’s story embodies the mission of Fellowship Square Foundation, providing not just affordable housing, but a true home where seniors can thrive and feel secure in their golden years.
Fellowship Square has partnered with SL Nusbaum Realty Company to manage our properties. Having served the MidAtlantic region for over 100 years, they are leaders in the commercial real estate industry.

We envision communities where all people have access to safe, quality living accommodations and services, regardless of their financial circumstances, so they can live with dignity and independence as long as they are able.
For 65 years, the Fellowship Square Foundation has been devoted to the mission of improving the lives of older adults who struggle to make ends meet by providing them with affordable housing and supportive services. We are incredibly proud of our accomplishments, however we know there is more work to be done.
As we look toward the future, Fellowship Square is committed to sustaining our core programs and services while taking strategic steps to transform the lives of older adults in the region through high-quality affordable housing solutions. We hope that you will join us in 2025 to celebrate our 65 years of impact.
