Unbridled Eve Derby Gala provides support to our beneficiaries through direct cash donations, as well as by raising awareness and directly connecting donors with these worthy organizations:

A Word from the Founders

When we started the Unbridled Charitable Foundation in 2012, we wanted to leverage one of the most popular events in the world to benefit those charities for which we have a passion.

The costs of running a derby eve gala are extremely high and few people have been able to sustain derby eve events. Our strategy has been to leverage the event to introduce people to our charitable beneficiaries. This strategy has raised over $5 million for our various charitable beneficiaries.

Where it started

After Tonya York co-founded the Mint Jubilee in 1997, Tammy and Tonya co-chaired the Julep Ball. Then in 2012, they decided to start their own foundation, the Unbridled Charitable Foundation, (UFB), 501(c)(3). Since that time, UFB has worked with multiple charities to raise millions of dollars.

The York Sisters’ unique ability to attract a loyal volunteer committee and manage a profitable event during one of the most elite (and expensive) sports event in the world - a feat very few people have been able to master. Having come from humble roots, in Okolona, KY, the York Sisters are passionate about making a difference.

This black-tie optional celebration is an unparalleled party showcasing southern grace, glamour, charm and hospitality. The Gala kicks off with a cocktail reception featuring dazzling specialty bars serving fine wines, champagnes and custom cocktails specially created for the event by top mixologists. Over 1,000 attendees experience a glamorous red carpet with celebrity guests and VIPs from sports, music, TV, movies, poker, publishing and horse racing.

The Unbridled Charitable Foundation has collected a group of like-minded celebrities who have become like a family. Nora Roberts, Warren Moon, Bob Guiney and the Kentucky Derby Jockeys such as Triple Crown winner Victor Espinoza have become Unbridled stalwarts.

Every year the Unbridled Eve Derby Gala Executive Committee selects the charitable beneficiaries to receive proceeds from the event.

Blessings in a Backpack has once again been selected as the primary beneficiary of the Unbridled Eve Derby Gala.

Through Blessings in a Backpack, a child in need can be fed on weekends for one year for just $130.

Since 2012, the money donated by Unbridled Eve has provided tens of thousands of hunger-free weekends for kids across the nation, including Roosevelt Perry Elementary School in Louisville.

Unbridled Eve has been an integral part of Blessings in a Backpack’s growth since Unbridled’s inception in 2012. The Silent Auction

It is incredibly expensive to run an event during the Kentucky Derby. A room that cost $350 for the weekend through the rest of the year can run $5,000 or more during Derby, which is why our Silent Auction is so important. Our Silent Auction represents a large portion of the funds that are provided to our beneficiaries.

A Mega Model of Caring!

You can’t reach the most number of charitable organizations without a brilliant plan. The Unbridled Charitable Foundation has a different business model than many charities. It is incredibly expensive to host an event during the Kentucky Derby.

Prices for hotels, Derby tickets, transporta-

tion and food, can increase by over ten times.

If you look at the money that Unbridled Charitable Foundation has contributed directly to our beneficiaries, the numbers are modest. Although we love contributing dollars directly to our beneficiaries, this is not the primary objective of Unbridled.

The Kentucky Derby is one of the most recognizable sporting events in the world. We leverage this amazing event to introduce our beneficiaries to supporters at an unforgettable event. These introductions have resulted in millions of dollars being raised directly by our beneficiaries through contributors who were introduced to them by Unbridled.

It is About Relationships!

Our business model is a long-term model. We utilize our amazing events to create long-term relationships between our beneficiaries and our wonderful sponsors. This relationship is not captured in the 990s or through traditional metrics, but they are of incredible value!
