We lived at Dunnet Head for many years and ran the Dunnet Head Tearooms. The Dunnet Head Educational Trust raised thousands of pounds for the County. On one occasion, the owners of the House of the Northern Gate sponsored us to apply for funds to have toilets on Dunnet Head. Unfortunately, our bid was not successful, but we thank Roderick Dunnet for his support.

We love Brownlow House in Lurgan Northern Ireland It has an elegant tearoom and the manager, David Martin, is charm personified. There are tours of the house, introducing Master McGrath, and you might even persuade David to talk about the Spanish chestnut trees.
BACK TO SCOTLAND
We have ordered four more Spanish chestnut trees to plant in the garden at Lyth. The daffodils we brought from Northern Ireland in 2022 are doing well, and are now five years old. You can find information about them and the species in Wick Library. We have been researching the controversial Sutherland Space Hub
Our biodiversity project at Lyth continues, and now we work with Dataforchange on the ground monitoring tool. The beach clean at Keiss is on 13 May 2025, and we have posters at the Lyth hall and at John o Groats. The wonderful Walter Mowatt gives 10% off the items in his shop to people who hold a Veteran Card.
On 9 April 2025, we will be attending a meeting with the Italians on how they maintain their paths

FITBIT FOR SCOTLAND
We have moved forward with our Fitbit for Scotland and are busy distributing it to our prospective co developers after consultation with a number of interested parties. The next stage is to introduce it to the farmers at the various shows over the summer and identify a piece of track to test on, followed by programming starting in September
ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS

Supplementary to Environmental News, the North Highland Explorer examines other parts of the world. The Galloping Granny is a true explorer.
She explores the adventures of Barry the Baton in Northern Ireland and on a trip to Lincolnshire. The delights of Kilimanjaro, Mexico, Spain, the USA and much more. The Galloping Granny got around in her time and is now living quietly in Scotland with her cat and term friend who has previously been called the long suffering partner. http://www.gotravellingwithtina.wordpress.com
