Foil Stamping is a process of printing that includes metal dies, applying heat and pressure while using foil films. Hot Stamping, which is a modern technique, was started in the 19th Century. With the time it is utilised to elevate the product value creating visual interest. A foil is a thin film that has been colored and is applied to a product using a process known as hot stamping. It is done by applying a pigment to the clear film serving as a carrier and it directly transfers particular colour to the product. A pigmented sediment layer is then added to the foil followed by a heat-activated adhesive layer that adheres sediments to the product. Special hot foil stamping machine is used to apply it on products. Foil stamping techniques that include embossing as well as spot UV, can be easily applied to different paper stocks. That works best with stocks that have smooth and even surfaces as opposed to rough stock.
