SOCIAL ILLUSION
INTROUCTION Our area we were working on is located in the North-West from the city centre of Wroclaw. It is placed between the Island “Kepa Mieszczanska” and it is part of the city called “Nadodrze”. The river part in this area is the north stream of the river Odra. In this area there are two bridges crossing the river. They are called “Mieszczanskie Mosty”. The most characteristic of this place is the big contrast between both riversides. On the right side you can find new working and living buildings and the area is very clean. A big wall with a fence blocks any access to the river. In opposite to that you can find on the left side big wild greenery. This area is directly connected to the river. We divided the whole area in four parts and created for every part an individual solution to connected the both sides and the people.

In area one we discovered a gap between the two bridges. This gap has got the shape of a triangle. We went under the bridges and found there a lot of interesting places. To make this area more attractive for people we created a concept of exclamation marks under the bridges. These signs show visitors interesting places and give them the opportunity to come directly in contact with the bridges and the river. Between the constructions of the bridge you can find two swings and a wind chime. A net made out of mirrors, steel and glass fills the gap between the bridges. This net is accessible for the visitors and they can lie on it. A bridge connects the stairs on the right side with the stairs on the left side. The bridge runs under the bridges and trough the constructions with the wind chime. The bridge gives the people entrance to the interesting places under the bridges and to the river.

This area is stamped from a big wall on the right side. A fence borders directly on the wall. Apart from a small and dangerous stair people have no possibilities to come near to the river. On this side you have no connection to the river and less meeting points for any communication. In contrast to that is on the left side a direct access to the river. People have the possibility to go fishing there and join the sun and the river. On this side meeting and communication options are given. But the view from this side of the river is not really nice. People are starring at an ugly and boring wall. With our concept of a mirror wall we want to change that. Our concept consists of a big mirror wall along the river. The mirror wall is composed of many triangular mirrors. They are reflecting the nice light from the sun and the sky and give the people from the left side a new view and perspective of this area. sitting options and footpaths integrated. UNDER BRIDGE MOVINGTHE BRIDGE
The concept of area three is a social bridge that connects the buildings from the right side with the nature on the left side. The bridge is composed of movable mirror cubes and its construction is made out of steel. These ways, for example as a restaurant or meeting point. The cubes work like lifts and touch the water. This allows new meeting and communication options for the people and connects them with the river. The mirrors from the wall reflect the sunlight to the solar panels under the bridge.

UNDER PLAYGROUND THE BRIDGE
In area four is a big school near the river located. There is also a small island in the river. But this island is not safe for children and so they have no access to the river. Our concept in this area is a playground for children on the right side to experience the river. They can play there, sit there and enjoy the sun. This playground is similar to the mirror wall in area two. It is also made out of mirrors to reflect the sunlight and the water. The steel construction of the playground makes a connection between the industrial style of the bridge and the scenery of the factories in the background.
