Teague HS Valedictorian “I
t feels very rewarding to receive this honor,” shared Valedictorian Alexandra (Alie) Watson, “I have worked hard to manage classroom time and extracurricular activities; it is exciting to see that pay off.” Alie will graduate June 5th with an impressive grade point average of 4.774. Valedictorian is just one of the many notable titles Alie has earned during her time at Teague High School. She was chosen as Miss THS; Student of the Year; President of the National Honor Society; Female Athlete of the Year; and CoDefensive MVP in District Basketball for 2013-2014. Also active in UIL, she received the Female UIL Award for 20122013. Alie was presented with numerous honors during the Senior Awards program Tuesday, May 19th.

Wortham HS Valedictorian
“T
hank you to all my teachers for believing in each and every one of us,” says Wortham High School’s Valedictorian, Courtney Rene Chasteen. Courtney, the daughter of Karen and Ronnie Chasteen, leads her graduating class with a 4.95 GPA. No doubt, her brothers, Bryan Myers and Kyle Chasteen, are proud of their sister. “This award reminds me that hard work pays off,” she says. Courtney says she has always believed that education is the key to life’s success. During her high school career, Courtney played volleyball and basketball for the Wortham Bulldogs and was active in the Beta Club. She received All-District honors in basketball, being named to the 2nd team.

alutatorian Christopher Austin Skinner feels blessed to be among the top graduates of Teague High School. With a grade point average of 4.75, Austin’s commitment to education is apparent. At the Senior Awards program Tuesday, May 19th, he claimed the Massey Award for outstanding senior boy, and the Jolene Sledge Memorial Award for leadership. Following graduation, he will attend Northwestern State University to study physical therapy

Wortham HS Salutatorian
“I
am very blessed to be able to be Salutatorian,” says Ashley Nicole Anderson. The Wortham graduating senior earns this honor with a 4.73 GPA. Ashley is the daughter of Christine and Scott Anderson, and has two siblings, Michael and Anna. During her high school years, Ashley was active in cheerleading, volleyball and track. Honors she has achieved include the Pin It Forward Leadership Award, All American Cheerleader and 1st Team All-District in Volleyball. Ashley plans to attend Navarro College to pursue a career as an Occupational Therapy Assistant because she wants to help people. She counts her teacher, Pam Calame, as an inspiration. “She helped me get prepared for college,” Ashley says. “I’m glad I’ve pushed myself to work hard throughout my high school career,” says Ashley.
