VISION FOR THE COLLEGE A COLLEGE BROUGHT TOGETHER BY: (1) A VISION TO BE A RENOWNED INSTITUTION IN BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND (2) A COMMITMENT TOWARDS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, CAMARADERIE AND SERVICE TO THE SOCIETY.

SPECIFIC PLANS 

 









For CBA Leadership Conference: Bring together the CBA students in a hands-on, collaborative and output-oriented leadership workshop led by the BAC, the ExeCoun, and the CBA alumni.

Business Bulletin: Equip the CBA students with information about current events especially in the business arena, to keep them aware about the field.

Maximum Aux/SPH Participation: Encourage more participation from the Aux Corps and Special Projects Heads by inviting them to brainstorming sessions prior to the council’s planning seminar.

For the ExeCoun ExeCoun Event: Pull together the expertise of the BA-based organizations through either a major fundraising event (for the benefit of the fourth floor tambayan’s) or a university-wide campaign (for an advocacy) that will not only showcase the diverse talents and skills of the BA-based orgs, but also create a strong, lasting bond between the members of the ExeCoun.

ExeCoun Constitution Amendment: Streamline the basic structure and functions of the ExeCoun to encourage greater efficiency and cooperation.

For UP BA 101 for Everyone: Build the image of the college and the value of business in anyone’s everyday lives through a business symposium for non-business majors essentially bridging the gap between the college and the rest of the university. (An expansion of Entrep 101 for Everyone.)

For the Community Sustainability of Adopt-a-Barangay: Create events that will deepen the relationship of the CBA students with Barangay Puray, the beneficiary of BAC’s recent Christmas feast and the forthcoming installation of solar-powered lanterns for 100 households residing in the area.

QUESTIONNAIRE ACADEMIC YEAR 2011-2012

1. Describe your leadership style.

My leadership style can be described as collaborative. I believe that while anyone who aims to lead a team or a community should always present (and at times, defend) his/her personal and educated input, he/she should also always encourage the participation of the people he/she is serving. This is because, for me, leaders are representatives of the people and so, as a leader, I should not only practice having the initiative to serve; I should also give importance to listening to the ideas and the opinions of all the people concerned.

2. In your own words, what is BAC? Why does it exist?

The BAC is a group of student leaders brought together by a passion to serve the college. Twenty-six students chosen by the students to represent their ideas and opinions, they are also tasked to be creative and to make the most out of their skills to lead projects that aim to complement the academic journey of each student in CBA. These projects may specifically aim to create venues for the students (1) to interact and bond with each other, (2) to exercise their knowledge in the outside environment, (3) to develop their social awareness and responsibility, and (4) to participate in the overall advancement of the BA community and the society that it is part of.

3. Cite one specific initiative you have taken, whether as a council member or not, that would show why you should be part of the BAC next year.

As the Councilor for External Affairs during the 1st semester of A.Y. 2011-2012, I was one of the pioneers of Entrep 101 for Everyone, an event aimed at introducing basic entrepreneurship to non-CBA students. But beyond that, the main objective of the project, in fact, is to strengthen the image of the college and our craft—after all, business is not all about making money. Through social entrepreneurship and similar business-oriented advocacies, business practitioners today improve lives and make a difference.

I do believe that by letting the people from beyond the boundaries of our college gain a deeper understanding of what we do, these people will also be able to practice their natural entrepreneurial thinking in achieving different goals. As a Vice-Chairperson, I want to

promote our college’s identity and role in the society—with the combined efforts of the BAC and the ExeCoun.

4. Define your strengths and weaknesses. What measures will you undertake to improve your strengths and level your weaknesses?

My major strength must be the fact that I enjoy building friendships with different types of people. I always value the things I learn from other people, and I also take pleasure in sharing what I know. I believe that being able to create and maintain a personal relationship with most members of the CBA community can make it easier for the BAC and the ExeCoun to continue coming up with strong projects and encouraging all-out participation.

My major weakness may be the fact that I’m Mr. Funny Guy. (Or at least, I try to be!) I always want to make everyone comfortable, relaxed and have a good time by cracking a joke or two. That’s why, sometimes, some people will probably not take me seriously until they hear the more serious side of me or see my output. I believe that by successfully moderating my comical ways, this attribute may also be to the BAC and the ExeCoun’s advantage because a little humor always has a power to make even the most serious occasions a little bit more interesting.

5. How do you intend to get the full cooperation of the BA population once elected? Cite specific and sustainable programs to address this matter.

As a member of BAC 2012, I’m really proud to say that this A.Y. 2011-2012 was a great year for the student council, especially in terms of student participation. For one, only a few of our events used class incentives to encourage attendance—and in most (if not all) these instances, the incentives were actually brought up by the students themselves, not exactly the council members. From last June’s Freshmen Orientation to the recent Seal the Deal, several volunteers, “buddies” and AuxCorps stepped up and joined the council in serving the college through its events. But indeed, a possible hindrance to maximum participation is the communication scheme, which still has a lot of room for improvement.

Streamlined Communication System: Unify the communication lines between the council and the BA community through a no-spam policy and an all-inclusive online venue for announcements and information dissemination.

corresponding issue in connection with your responsibility as a BAC member? 

Rampant theft cases in the college

As the Vice-Chairperson, I will make certain that the theft cases will be addressed once and for all by the ExeCoun. Through the 1st semester’s ExeCoun TBS, I will facilitate a multiperspective discussion on the issue, so that each organization will, first, have a clear understanding on the situation. From there, the ExeCoun will be able to collaborate and establish ad hoc projects that will focus on launching sustainable measures to address the problem.

7. If 2012 is really the end of the world, what LAST project will you implement that will impact the CBA Community?

If the Mayans were indeed correct about 2012, then the CBA community perhaps deserve to experience BA Day—a celebration of being a BA student, then and now.

Gathering the students, faculty, staff, and the alumni of our 95-year-old college, it will be a day-long get-together filled with games, good food, music, and memories—essentially just a day for everyone to express their love for each other and for the college, which has caused nothing but greatness and happiness to everyone who has ever stepped on it. 
