THE TABERNACLE
The Altar of Incense · Dr. Chris Montgomery · March 30, 2025
Exodus 30:1-10; 34-38
1. The bronze altar outside of the holy place is a picture of judgment, reminding us how God must deal with sin and sinners
2. The golden altar inside the holy place is a picture of a sacrifice being received and tells us how God deals with His saints.

3. God listens to the prayers of His saints.
(Psalm 141:2) Let my prayers be counted as incense before you…
(Proverbs 15:29) The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
(1 John 5:14) And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
4. God gives His saints power through Christ in prayer.
5. My prayers only have power when I have Christ as my High Priest

Sketch by Marc Johnson
(1 Timothy 2:1-6) First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all …
(Romans 8:34) Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
(Hebrews 7:24-25) But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore, He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
(Ephesians 3:12) In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
