Neighbourhood news

A thriving community

As we take a moment to mark halfway at Brookhaven, the team and I have enjoyed reflecting on all that has been achieved over the past six years across this wonderful community. From major civil projects, to the friendships formed between new neighbours, watching this community grow and evolve as new families arrive is one of the great privileges of my role as your Community Development Manager. With such a proud and resilient community already established, I am filled with confidence, the best is yet to come.

In this issue we introduce our newest members of the Brookhaven Collective, meet our recently settled neighbours and provide a halfway development update. We also share the exciting lineup of local community events planned for Winter and Spring.

Stay up-to-date with community news and events through our Facebook and Instagram pages @brookhavenliving or join the conversation in our private Brookhaven Residents Facebook Group.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

A vision unfolding!

We are proud to announce that having welcomed our 1,000th Brookhaven Family at our recent ‘Meet Your Neighbours’ Settlement Event, we have reached a huge development milestone - we’re halfway!

From the very beginning, our vision was to create a connected village, drawing on the natural landscape to provide a safe extension of the backyard, enabling families to thrive.

From our first residents, park and display village opening in 2017, to the hive of activity Brookhaven has become, we are so proud to have watched this beautiful community grow from vision to reality.

With planning now having commenced on the Village Retail Centre, the Brookhaven Collective growing from strength to strength and our highly anticipated local dog park set for delivery in 2024, we are confident the best is yet to come.

To celebrate, we will shortly announce the date for our first “Meet the Developer” pop-in session. Our Development, Community, Property Management and Sales teams will be on site to meet residents and answer any queries about what’s ahead for this thriving community.

If you have any questions or would like to connect with the team, please reach out to communityQLD@ frasersproperty.com.au

To mark the occasion, we would like to share some of our favourite Brookhaven fun facts that demonstrate the richness and evolution of this community we call home.

Hannah and Nick Robertson

By chance we drove past Brookhaven and were immediately attracted to the retention of the natural vegetation throughout the community.

How did you hear about the Brookhaven Collective?

The Brookhaven Collective is a group of passionate resident volunteers who work alongside the Community Development team to deliver a range of community events and initiatives. We sat down with the family to find out a little more about their recent involvement.

Tell us a bit about your family and your interests?

Nick and I are enjoying discovering parenthood with our 11-month-old twin boys, Theodore and Charlie. We love participating in fun family activities while exploring our local area and we’re planning our first trip as a family.

What attracted you to move to Brookhaven?

For years we have been travelling through this area on our way to the Gold Coast from Flagstone and witnessed the area transforming.

I reached out to Marion, the Community Manager, to discuss our past experience with Clean Up Australia Day, with an offer to host the event at Brookhaven. Marion shared some of the planning that had been done to date for that event with The Brookhaven Collective and invited us to attend the upcoming quarterly meeting to discuss the calendar of events for the first half of the year. It was very timely!

Tell us about your involvement with the Collective?

Nick and I attended the planning meeting in February, contributed past experiences and ideas for upcoming events and volunteered to lead the Brookhaven Clean-Up event and man a craft and reading corner at the Easter event. It was rewarding getting involved with these events and getting to know other members of The Collective.

Why is volunteering important to you?

Embracing the community spirit has always been important for both of us. It’s a great way to get to know other people and give back to our community. We are keen to participate

in more local activations and get involved in events and community initiatives wherever we can.

Do you have any tips for residents interested to volunteer for the first time?

Don’t be shy! Come to one of the events or planning meetings to meet the team and see if anything sparks your interest, or bring your own idea, champion it and inspire others to support your initiative. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see like-minded residents wanting to help.

What’s next for you and the Brookhaven Collective?

We can’t wait to bring back a second clean-up event as part of the gardening month in September and attract many more volunteers from around Brookhaven. Halloween is also already marked on our calendar. We were blown away by the engagement last year and can’t wait to be a part of it again. This is such a thrilling time to meet fellow neighbours!

How can you find out more?

Events wrap-up

Clean-Up Brookhaven Day

Championed by our newest members of The Brookhaven Collective, Hannah and Nick, we were proud to support ‘Clean-Up Australia Day’ with a huge community effort to clean up our streets, parks and waterways.

Thank you to Councillor Tony Hall, Bert van Manen MP, Beenleigh District Men’s Shed and all the volunteers who participated on the day.

Meet the Easter Bunny

Ullman Oval was buzzing once again this year as residents enjoyed the return of our early Easter celebrations. The Red Rocket Three band provided high energy tunes, while kids enjoyed a scavenger hunt, colouring in corner and food trucks before the beloved Easter Bunny popped in with plenty of delicious treats to share.

Thank you to everyone who hopped along on the day.
