Joostenberg Wine Estate & Kraal Restaurant

Visitors heading to Joostenberg Wine Estate, can indulge in the delicious and seasonal slow farm lunches served at The Kraal Restaurant while sampling some of the best organic wines in South Africa. Tyrrel Myburgh and his team farm organically, and believe that fine winemaking is about emphasising the link between site (terroir) and wine.The full range, including some rare bottles from the small batch collection and specially kept older vintages, are on offer on the wine list, and available to taste inside the cool, thick wall of the old waenhuis (wagon house) building which is open from 11h00-15h00 every weekend.

The Kraal Restaurant is situated in a shaded, stone walled courtyard on Joostenberg Wine Estate. Slow farm lunches are served at wooden tables, set outside in between fruit trees and wild olives, next to the farm werf garden. The restaurant has access to a wide variety of fresh produce on its doorstep and supports local farmers and producers as much as possible while using seasonal herbs, veggies and fruit from the farm garden too. Every week the kitchen creates a set lunch menu, guided by what is delicious, seasonal and growing in the area. It’s all about local flavours, childhood food memories, influences from people met and places visited.
