Franklin Branch Notice of AGM
Notice is given of the 2018 Annual General Meeting of the Franklin Branch of the NZ Tree Crops Association. The AGM will precede our February Field Day at Tony Ogilvie’s property in Waiuku. Date: 1:30 - 3:30 pm on Saturday 10th February 2018. Address: 43 Victoria Avenue, Waiuku. We have some of the existing committee resigning this year and so are looking for enthusiastic members to join the committee. So come, put your stamp on getting our community involved in tree cropping activities and helping the Franklin Branch contribute to the objects of the NZ Tree Crops Association. The committee meet once every two months and the workload is, well, uplifting. So if you can prepare minutes and agendas, or write up a set of accounts or otherwise wish to hold the tiller of a progressive community group, please put your name forward. There is nothing that contributes to the objects of the NZ Tree Crops Association more than a community learning and demonstration food forest, hence the Franklin Food Forest project at the old Pukekohe High School orchard. Please consider how you could contribute to the concept with a view to developing it’s full potential.
Field day: Urban tree cropping
Immediately following the Branch AGM, we will tour Tony Ogilivie’s garden for a look at what can be achieved with tree crops in an urban setting. Do join us and don’t forget a cup for some afternoon tea. The field day will go ahead whatever the weather.

From Thelma Williams, BoP Branch: Currently registrations have reached double figures. BOP Branch have attracted someone from Australia and at least two from U.S.A. HOWEVER they rely upon our members to get behind the to increase these numbers. There is a saving to be made by booking before 28 February, 2018. www.treecrops.org.nz has all the details and allows you to book online. The venue, a highly qualified team of speakers, buses, field trip hosts, food, volunteers, sponsors are ready. Jean has many spot prizes. Bill is busy wood turning. Perhaps Michael will have some champagne ready! So get busy booking yourself, your friends or interested tree enthusiasts. We need an audience to make this work. We look forward to welcoming many of you to Tauranga in 2018!
