MAGIC MAGIC let the let the HAPPEN HAPPEN

Thank you for attending the Franklin Academy Gala!
Perhaps 2022 has been a bit more shaken than stirred. Your willingness to pivot to our new auction date is one that is much appreciated. Our goal is always to do what is best for our greater community, a community that gives so much to our students. Tonight, we ask that you give a bit more to support the best education in Whatcom County.
Your support allows us to grow our STEM centric education in a safe, small class environment. Our tuition assistance program gives all students the opportunity to enjoy a world class education. Thank you for raising your paddle and giving the gift of a quality education.
Our room this evening is filled with many treasures, including art projects created by our students from Preschool through Grade 8. Hopefully these projects give you a small glimpse into the creativity and engagement of students at the Franklin Academy. You will also see many items that have been generously donated by many individuals and local businesses.
This is the perfect example of our fantastic Franklin Academy community. Thank you for your participation and generosity tonight. We know that your support will make a huge difference in our school and our community.

Rules of the Live and Silent Auctions—All items are sold on an “As Is, Where Is” basis. The Franklin Academy and the Auctioneer make no warranties or claims about the item’s condition or the accuracy of the item’s description in the program.
The Auctioneer retains the right to withdraw any item before or during the actual live and silent auctions.
At their sole discretion, the Auctioneer will set the actual minimum opening bid and establish bidding increments for each live auction lot. All opening bids are set at a fraction of the item’s fair market value.
Unless otherwise announced by the Auctioneer at the live auction, all bids are per sequenced auction lot, as numbered in the printed program.
It is assumed that the prospective bidders have taken responsibility for inspecting the auction items before bidding and are aware of the quality and value of the item bid on and ultimately purchased.
To enter a live auction bid, raise your bid card or hand so that the Auctioneer or bid spotters can see your intended bid. The highest bid acknowledged by the Auctioneer shall be the accepted high bidder and, at the time, is responsible for the payment and pick-up of the auction lot.
There will be no refunds or exchanges.
Each item in the silent auction has a bid sheet attached to the table nearby. Each new bid in the silent auction must be written on the following blank line available on the bid sheet.
Minimum bids are posted for each item. The opening bid on each auction lot in the silent auction must equal or exceed that amount by the posted bid increment. The highest bid at the silent auction closing time will constitute the winning bid unless a bidder has exercised the Buy It Now option in advance of the silent auction table’s closing time.
If your name appears as the winning high bid on the silent auction bid sheet, you are then responsible for the payment and pick-up of the auction lot. There will be no refunds or exchanges honored.
All live and silent auction items and Raise the Paddle pledges must be paid for by the end of the event. All purchased items must be picked up by the end of the event. All sales are final!
Please see your tax advisor for current charitable deduction rules.
Attendees may check out throughout the evening.
If you signed up for “Express Pay” at registration, you will have your receipt, and you can go directly to the tables behind registration to pick up your items. If you are not signed up for “Express Pay,” please return to registration to pay, and you will get your receipt. You may then pick up your items.
Cash, personal checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, are accepted.
If you have Auction Cash it must be applied it to your bill at the end of the event.
Auction Cash is cash awarded to the winner of the “TFA Ringmaster” Raffle (see details below.) The lucky winner of the “TFA Ringmaster” drawing will win $3,500 to put towards their auction bill at the end of the night! Auction Cash can only be spent the night of the auction, you must be present to spend it, and must be applied it to your bill at the end of the event.
Can I share my Auction Cash?
Yes! If you are the lucky winner of the “Ringmaster” Raffle and want to split your winnings with other auction attendees, you can share your cash. It’s yours to spend as you see fit. Or, put it towards that Live item you want and stretch your bidding dollars.
Thank you, Auction Cash Sponsors: 11th Street Goods Brandi Coplen with Windermere Real Estate
How it works: If you’ve ever been to a fair, you’ve likely played a game of Ring Toss. In this game everyone is a winner!
Step Right Up and Purchase a ticket for $25! Try your luck at tossing a ring onto the field of bottles to see what you win. Each bottle in the game is worth $25 or more so you are sure to come away a winner.
Silver Bottles: $25-$50 value
Gold Bottles: $50-$75 value
Red Bottles: $75+ value
Buy a ticket for $25 and puch out a circle on the board. Each item is valued at $25 or more. One person will be the lucky winner of $250 in Auction Cash.
How it works:
“TFA Ringmaster” Raffle Tickets are $100.
All tickets sold will be placed in a hat, and the “TFA Ringmaster” winning ticket will be drawn before the Live Auction begins. The lucky winner will win $3,500 in Auction Cash. Good Luck!
How it works: Preview the desserts on the beautifully arranged table in the ballroom, then pass the bid card around your table so that every bidder can fill in a donation of a specific amount.
During the Live Auction, a volunteer will collect the table’s bid card, and they will be tallied. The table with the highest donation total gets to choose their dessert first, followed quickly by the second, third, and so on until every table selects their dessert.
Every table will designate a “runner” who will choose the dessert for their table. The Auctioneer will announce the tables in order, and one person from each table will go to select their top pick. Bid generously, or your choice may be gone!

Build Your Cellar: Battle of Old-World vs. New World
As all wine lovers know – there is more to the battle between Old World and New World Wines than simply Geography! It is not a simple Europe vs the Rest of the Wine Growing World when it comes to what makes a great wine. History vs. Clarity, Tradition vs. Technology, and the importance of Terroir vs. the skill of the Winemaker, all play into what makes a significant wine one that transcends into the highly sought-after collectible category.
This evening we offer a collection of spectacular and collectible wines from France, the bastion of traditional Old-World winemaking, and California, the powerhouse of the New World vintners:
Chardonnay:
• Domaine Fontaine Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet Les Verges 2019, Burgundy FR
• Mount Eden Chardonnay Reserve 2017, Santa Cruz CA Cabernet Sauvignon/Bordeaux Blend:
• Chateau Pontet Canet Pauillac 2017 Bordeaux FR
• Ridge Monte Bello 2019, Santa Cruz CA Pinot Noir/Burgundy:
• Raphet Vougeot Grand Cru Cuvee Unique 2019 Burgundy FR
• Williams Seleym Pinot Noir 2018 Russian River CA
These are all wines to be treasured, cellared, and savored on special occasions.
