Certitude Advertising

A corporate design project dedicated to a fictional advertising agency called Certitude. Central to the organization’s principles and morals is the creation of a safe and an inclusive space for all employees and clients, that also prioritizes different working styles.

Inspired by the Medicine Wheel, a symbolic tool used by many Indigenous generations, the design hopes to create a safe space to work, rest, and heal. The specific departments and rooms within the office are grouped together based on the Four Directions and the idea of equality within the corporate office. The Medicine Wheel is also used to influence the circulation pattern that occurs within the space, allowing users to navigate the space without barriers. The design highlights the importance of creating meeting and breakout areas where collaborative work can take place. Influenced by what employees may need following the COVID-19 pandemic, the office gives users an opportunity to work outside of their homes.

Inspired by Acrobatic Chinese and Flamenco Spanish dancing, the installations and furniture pieces imitate dancers on stage, showcasing movement and rhythm. A conversation between the two dancers occurs through threedimensional forms and drapery, and along with the movement in the walls and ceilings, the voices of the dancers crescendo and decrescendo throughout the space.

The residential project is designed for a young couple looking to start a family and to have a home where they can create memories together. The clients are extremely family-oriented and enjoy hosting friends; they are active and enjoy spending time outdoors; and they entertain by playing instruments. Music plays an important role in the concept of the home. It features the concept of finding music in nature and combining that with an interior space. Through the inclusion of a courtyard, it reinvents the idea of a modern treehouse, which allows the clients to live inside, along with nature. The home features musical components like rhythm and notes throughout the space, seen through a variety of details. Sustainable practices are incorporated in the overall design of the house.

The game of Mahjong is the design inspiration for this Dementia and Alzheimer’s Long-Term Care Facility. Mahjong requires four players to play and the positions are based on the four directions. By shuffling the tiles in the centre of the table, a community is formed between the players. The tiles are then stacked and setup in a rhombus shape within the square table. This setup is the inspiration behind the floor plan and the room adjacencies, while the four directions and the counterclockwise order influences the circulation pattern within the space.

ADDITIONAL WORKS

Two close-up images of a self-portrait painting that explores the balance between two cultures that ultimately affects the development and growth of an individual.

Through art materials and mediums, an exploration between two cultures is translated through this piece. This showcases the complexity of emotions one feels when trying to balance being raised within two different cultures.
