Whether you are visiting Perth for the first time, or are an old friend, you’ll find plenty of great places to eat and a vast range of things to see and do.

We hope that you are able to relax and enjoy the facilities that the apartment has to offer.

Please take a moment to read the important information and if you have children, or adults with physical, mental and or sensory impairments, please consider the risks, which we have identified.

We are here to help you. If there is anything that doesn’t work as it should, or you need help, please just ask. We will do everything we can to get things right.

Quick start & Important Information

Please take care when children are in the apartment as the windows can open fully and are not restricted.

Access Access to the apartment is via a digital entry system at the front door.

There is a drying cord in the Bathroom, please be aware of this.

You will have been provided with your entry code with your welcome email.

Our flooring is warm and cosy. You are welcome to leave your shoes by the front door.

Risks There are risks for children and adults with physical, mental and or sensory impairments, please note.

The cooker hob is an induction unit and users of pacemakers or insulin pumps should be made aware of this.

Instructions Detailed instructions for all appliances are stored in a folder in the Kitchen, in the cupboard to the left of the cooking hob. If any instructions are missing do not use the appliance and advise the Stay In Perth team, so that they can be replaced.

The Quooker tap on the sink dispenses boiling water, see instructions for Kitchen.

The Spa and Whirlpool bath should not be used unsupervised by children, see instructions for these areas.

Parking We provide two free parking spaces with The Barclay Apartment.

You will find the free parking in the car park, just round the corner from the apartment, on St Andrews Street, PH2 8HY, signed The Bathroom Company.

The car park is just a minute's walk from the front door.

Fire In the event of fire, please leave the premises immediately using the safest route. Do not take

any unnecessary risks your safety by trying to extinguish the fire.

The stairs can be used as a fire escape and all windows open fully.

Carbon Monoxide detector There is a carbon monoxide detector in the Kitchen.

Smoke detectors Smoke detectors are located in the Kitchen and the Hallway, by the bedrooms.

The alarms should normally show a green light (power) and flash red every 40 seconds. All of the fire alarms will sound if • The test button is pressed on any unit and held for 10 seconds. The red light will flash while the unit is sounding.

• Any detector is activated.

To hush alarms - Press the Test/Hush button on the detector that has been activated, i.e. the one flashing red.

There is a pole in the cupboard by the Spa, which can be used to press the silencing buttons.

Pressing the Test / Hush button on any other alarm will not silence all of the other alarm units.

First Aid kit Is kept in the low cupboard by the window, in the Kitchen.

Electricity The circuit breakers are in a cupboard by the front door.

Once an alarm has been hushed it will automatically switch to a reduced sensitivity condition (very large levels of smoke from a nearby fire will over-ride the Hush). This allows unwanted alarms to be silenced for approximately 10 minutes. During this period the red light will flash every 10 seconds (instead of the normal 40 seconds) to indicate reduced sensitivity. The alarm will reset to normal sensitivity at the end of the silenced period.

Fire blanket Is kept in the low cupboard by the window, in the Kitchen.

Fire extinguisher There is a fire extinguisher in the cupboard by the Spa room.

Living room Relax and enjoy in the Living Room.

Automatic blinds The blinds are automatically controlled using the handset.

TV Remote The TV remote is kept on the coffee table.

Cooking and Kitchen We want you to feel right at home, so we have provided a full range of cooking implements, glassware, cutlery and crockery.

We hope you enjoy, whether you’re making a meal from scratch, or just enjoying a quiet glass of wine.

Automatic blinds The blinds are automatically controlled using the handset.

Chopping boards Please use chopping boards to protect the work surfaces.

Coffee machine The coffee machine takes pods. We have provided some to get you started.

Coffee and tea Instant coffee and tea bags are kept in the containers on the worktop.

There is a selection of recipe books in the Kitchen.

Cutlery Cutlery and table mats are in the drawers to the left of the hob.

Dishwasher The dishwasher is in the Kitchen, to the left of the sink. Dishwasher tablets are in the cupboard under the sink.

There is a cutlery tray at the top of the dishwasher.

Mode is changed using the V button. The machine will start when the door is closed.

Extractor fan The extractor fan is above the hob. Pull the front edge gently to extend and the controls are on the right-hand side, behind the front edge.

Fridge Freezer The fridge-freezer is to the left of the Kitchen door.

Cooking/Recipe books

Hob The induction hob is switched on at the wall and then with the power button.

If you use a pacemaker, or insulin pump you should read the instructions.

Select the ring you want to use and use the +/- to select the temperature.

Ice There are ice trays in the freezer.

Implements There is a smaller drawer at the top of the drawer with implements and knives.

Knives Knives and kitchen implements are in the drawers to the left of the hob.

There is a smaller drawer at the top of the drawer with more implements and knives.

Microwave The microwave door opens by pulling on the

handle on the right-hand side.

Select the power setting using the left-hand dial and the time with the righthand dial.

Oven Push the control dials to extend them.

Left dial to select: • Light • Grill • Oven Right dial to select temperature.

Centre button to select the timer.

Quooker / Kettle Instead of a kettle, we have a Quooker tap on the Kitchen sink. This produces boiling water as you need it.

When operating the tap, you should avoid exposing objects that are not heatresistant. If the entire content of boiling water is used in one go, it can take between 10-20 minutes for the water to reach boiling again.

The tap is fitted with a childproof double push and turn handle. A light ring lights up when the tap is dispensing hot water.

The pull-out hose on the flex tap is fitted with an additional safety feature called the “boiling water stop�, which ensures that no boiling water will be dispensed when the hose is pulled out.

When filling a cup or mug, we advise that you bring it close to the spout, as the water will spray slightly when leaving the tap due to the formation of steam.

We also recommend waiting a few seconds for the air bubbles to subside before placing a tea bag into the water, as this prevents the formation of a layer of foam on the tea.

Toaster Select the slots you wish to use, with the top switch and the time using the dial.

Please note the clockwork timer will make a noise, even if the toaster is switched off at the wall.

Worktops The worktops will be damaged if hot pans or oven trays / utensils are placed on them. Please use the mats provided.

Scales Kitchen scales are kept on the worktop.

Step A step is kept behind the Kitchen door.

Bedrooms Automatic blinds The blinds are automatically controlled using the handsets in each room.

Pillows We provide feather filled pillows. If you would prefer to use a synthetic pillow, you can find these in the top of the bedroom wardrobes.

Spa and Bathrooms We have two luxurious bathing areas, the spa and bathroom. Please ensure that children of any age and / or adults with physical, mental and or sensory impairments must use these facilities only with proper supervision.

Please check that the temperature locks to prevent scalding are in the correct position before using showers.

Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs should not use these facilities.

Please use the extract fans to avoid condensation build up.

Spa area The Spa area has a large ceiling mounted shower, a wall mounted shower and a steam room with waterfall and hand-held showers.

We store over 400 litres of hot water, for the apartment. The luxury showers are high-flow and high-pressure and will utilise the hot water in 1520 minutes. Using the showers individually will provide continuous hot water.

Bathroom The bathroom has a air bath and a shower toilet.

The bath also has a hand shower.

Cold water drinking The tap in the Spa steam room area is for drinking water.

Clothes drying There is a drying cord in the Bathroom. Pull out the cord and secure the end to use.

Extract fans The extract fans for the Spa and Bathroom are operated from the switches outside rooms.

Please use the extract fans to avoid condensation build up.

Spa steam room The steam control panel is located in the steam room.

Use the power button (top right-hand) to generate steam and the scale 1-10, to select the temperature.

Steam generation will take approximately 10 minutes.

Showering in the steam room is controlled using the controls to select the waterfall or hand showers.

The hand-held showers can be turned at the top for a straight jet.

Please check that the temperature locks to prevent scalding are in the correct position before using the shower.

Bathroom shower The shower controls are operated on the bath side.

The taller block is the shower head and should be stored with the jet facing away from you.

The smaller block is the water and temperature control.

The shower controls are operated with the four wall-mounted dials.

• 1 – Laminar • 2 – Body • 3 – Rain • D – Temperature control Please check that the temperature lock to prevent scalding is in the correct position before using the shower.

Toilet The toilet in the bathroom can wash and dry and is operated using the remote-control pad.

It has the following functions: • Wash • Dry Please do not use the wash functions unless seated on the toilet.

Towel rails There are heated towel rails in the Spa area and the Bathroom.

Underfloor warming There is underfloor warming in the Bathroom and Spa. The control for the Bathroom is in the corridor outside the Bathroom door.

The control for the Spa area is in the cupboard by the Spa door.

To turn the heating on press the power button and then select the temperature you would like. The temperature shown on the left is the floor temperature, on the right is the temperature selected.

To increase or decrease the temperature use the arrow buttons ^ and v.

Air bath Please ensure that children of any age or adults with physical, mental and or sensory impairments must use these facilities only with proper supervision.

The water temperature must never exceed 45oC.

We recommend filling the tub with mixed water, avoiding filling with hot water and then cold as there is a risk of scalding.

Please remember that your air bath is most relaxing when the temperature is kept at a constant 36-37oC. We recommend consulting your doctor prior to the use of the air bath if you suffer from severe heart disease, hypertension or other acute illnesses. Elderly people, or those with motor difficulties, weaknesses or disabilities should use the air bath with care.

Please avoid the use of substances that cause foam, as their effects will be increased due to the pump pressure. Use shampoo and soap only at the end of your time in the bathtub.

If you would like to use salts or other relaxing, toning, slimming, etc., please ensure they will not cause foam formation and that they are well dissolved in the water prior

to turning on the pump, or it may be blocked / damaged.

The air is switched on using the small touch pad on the bath edge. It will run through a short cycle before switching off.

The bath plug is closed and opened by pushing down on the rectangular plate in the base of the bathtub.

Heating Nest control The heating is controlled using a Nest thermostat which is located by the door at the top of the stairs.

To increase or decrease the temperature use the arrow buttons ^ and v.

To increase or decrease the temperature use the dial to select the temperature you would like.

There are a huge number of things to do and see in the Highlands of Scotland and we are well placed to get to many of them.

Often, the remoteness of Scottish beaches particularly those of the northern and western coast - means that they are free from pollution.

We have listed some of the ones that we and our friends have enjoyed.

Alternatively, grab a book, or just sit back and watch the world go by.

We are lucky enough to have a great series of Forestry Commission trails, on Kinnoull Hill and more at Comrie Croft, just the other side of Crieff.

Please check which paths are OK to use, especially if cycling on any of the private estates and follow the country code.

Dustpan and brush There is a dustpan and brush kept in the Kitchen, behind the door.

Keep the appliance and cable out of reach of children under 8 years of age.

Environment We are lucky to live in a very beautiful area.

If the cord of the appliance is damaged, discontinue use immediately and advise the Stay In Perth team.

Please help us to conserve resources and reduce our impact on the environment by switching off lights that you are not using.

Do not use these appliances near bathtubs, showers, basins, or other vessels containing water.

Hairdryer You can find the hairdryer in the bottom drawers in the bedroom.

Iron and ironing board There is an iron and ironing board kept in the

Wardrobe in Bedroom 1 (the front bedroom).

Lighting All of the lighting at The Barclay Apartment is LED and many lights can be dimmed.

Please help us to conserve resources and reduce our impact on the environment by switching off lights that you are not using.

Rubbish There is a rubbish bin in the Kitchen and bins in bathroom and bedrooms.

There are spare bin bags in the Kitchen cupboard.

Security Please make sure that all windows and the front door are securely closed when you are not in the apartment.

There is a chain on the door at the top of the stairs.

USB chargers There are USB chargers in the: • Bedrooms • Kitchen • Living room Vacuum cleaner / Hoover The vacuum cleaner is kept in the cupboard by the Spa door.

Video entry system The front door can be released using the video entry system.

The control panel is located in the inside the door at the top of the stairs.

To speak with someone, use the button on the bottom left.

To let somebody, enter the apartment press the key symbol.

Washing machine and tumbler There is a washer/dryer in the cupboard by the Spa. Windows All windows are Turn and tilt.

Turn the handle 90 degrees to tilt the window inwards.

Close and turn the handle 180 degrees to open the window fully.

Please make sure that all windows are closed when you are not in the apartment. Please take care when children are in the apartment as the windows can open fully.

WiFi We have reliable and fast internet. You can access WiFi using the code found on the welcome pack House Notes.
