Have you ever wondered what happens to the Friendship Pads after you sign them on a Sunday morning? Well, there is a life to those sign in sheets which carry some important information back to the church office. Once collected, attendance is posted in our database. If you do not sign in on the sheet, we may not know if you were in church on Sunday! If a visitor signs the friendship pad, their name is put into a spreadsheet, and if contact information is provided, we send a welcome card expressing our appreciation to them for worshiping with us and inviting them to return. Once a visitor has worshiped with us 3 times, they are included in our normal database (ACS) to receive information on First Presbyterian Church (newsletter, mailings, etc.). Upon scheduling a new member class, these visitors are invited to attend, and we hope to engage them in the life of the church via membership. In addition, the deacons are given an attendance sheet every quarter indicating those in their parish who have or have not attended worship services. This could be for many reasons… illness, vacation, or maybe a personal problem. This allows the deacon an opportunity to reach out to our membership and to support them in a Christian and loving way. Now that you know why these Friendship Pads are so important to the life of the church, what can you do to help? Please print (do not sign) your name clearly. This helps us to make sure we properly record your attendance. Include your contact information, especially if it is a new address, phone number or e-mail address. This will allow the church office to keep our database as current as possible. When you see someone sitting next to you that you do not recognize or has signed in as a visitor, be sure to greet them warmly and invite them to the Welcome table in Spencer Hall following worship services. This is the first contact they may have with FPC, and we wish to make them feel as welcome and comfortable as possible.
All women are invited to participate in an eleven week study which will begin Wednesday, August 7. Please join us on a journey into the life and heart of Paul the Apostle. Along the way, you will get to know the “Apostle to the Gentiles” in a new way. You will discover him to be a man who formed many friendships with both men and women. He served faithfully and loved heartily! This study will challenge and encourage you! We will meet each Wednesday from 10 a.m. —12 p.m. in Room 204. For more information, please contact Jeanie Weigel at email@example.com or 239.963.5318.
