Are you curious to know who operates the Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce? The Chamber is governed by a group of elected board directors who work hard to support and promote local businesses and community. The board is comprised of ten individuals who are elected annually for three-year terms, as well as one executive director. In addition, ex-officio directors from various organizations in the community also participate in the Chamber’s leadership. Let’s take a closer look at the Chamber Board Directors and their roles within the organization. *Ex-officio directors consist of the Groesbeck City Administrator, the Superintendent of the Groesbeck Independent School District, the Executive Director of the Groesbeck Economic Development Corporation, and the Mayor of the City of Groesbeck. Julia Morton has been a Groesbeck resident for 9 years and is a native Houstonian. She attended school in Spring Branch and Spring and earned a BBA in accounting and an MBA in marketing at Texas A&M University. She also earned her JD at South Texas College of Law. Julia is currently an attorney and a CPA, retired. She has been married to her husband, Chris, since 1980, and they moved to Groesbeck after his
retirement - “his family is from Groesbeck, and we always wanted to end up here!” They have two grown daughters who both live in Houston.
Julia is a member of various organizations such as First Methodist Church Groesbeck, the Jonathan Hardin Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sterling C. Robertson Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Groesbeck Lions Club, Groesbeck Study Club, Cynthia Ann Garden Club,
Limestone County Republican Women, and the Garland R. Walker Inn of Court. Moreover, she is on the state board of the Texas Federation of Republican Women.
Julia is privileged to be an active board director of the Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce and serves as the Board Secretary. She enjoys being “plugged in” to what is going on in the area and learning more and more about the community’s history. It is fun working on various projects and events that the Chamber sponsors, and she’s gotten to know
some wonderful people who truly care about Groesbeck.
Gabriela Perez is a
born in Mexia and a
long-time resident of Groesbeck for over 28 years. A graduate of Groesbeck High School’s Class of 2006, Gabriela has deep roots in the community and is committed to raising her four amazing children in the hometown she loves.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Gabriela brings valuable communication skills and cultural insight to every role she takes on. She began her career in public service in 2018 with Limestone County Road and Bridge and later transferred to the Limestone County Treasurer’s Office in 2020, where she continues to serve as Assistant County Treasurer. With over seven years of dedicated experience with the county, she is known for her reliability, professionalism, and community-first mindset.
In 2025, Gabriela proudly joined the Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce Board as Treasurer. Her experience in financial operations, coupled with her passion for civic engagement, makes her a strong asset to the Chamber and its mission to grow and support the local community. She views this role as an opportunity to give back and help strengthen the town she calls home.
Outside of her professional commitments, Gabriela enjoys fishing, bowling, golf, and coaching youth soccer on weekends. She is a devoted mother who prioritizes making memories with her family and actively supports her children’s school events. Her heart for service extends beyond her
job—she is deeply passionate about supporting those in need and fostering unity in her community.

Why Green Snot Doesn’t Always Mean You’re Sick
Think of your nose like a defense system with special white blood cell “soldiers” that fight off invaders. When these soldiers rush to protect you, they release special chemicals that can make your mucus turn green - kind of like how a bruise changes color.
What Makes Mucus Turn Green?
• White blood cells contain iron-based enzymes
• These enzymes create a greenish color when they’re active
• The green color doesn’t automatically mean you have a serious infection
Common Reasons for Green Mucus
1. Viral infections (like a common cold)
2. Allergies
3. Irritants in the air
4. Your mucus sitting in your nose for a while
When to Worry
• If green mucus lasts more than 10-14 days
• If you have a high fever
• If you’re experiencing severe pain or difficulty breathing
Pro tip: Just because your mucus is green doesn’t mean you need antibiotics! Your body is just doing its normal job of fighting whatever is bothering it.
