NEWS
Jan 2020 The Fire Chief reported on Chevron’s substantial donation of $45,000.00 to the Fox Creek Fire Department. The donation will go towards new equipment including battery hydraulics, Hazmat equipment, scene lighting, and a sauna. The sauna will be used as a preventative measure against cancer which the fire fighters are at higher risk of. Council has given second and third reading to bylaw 829-2019 – Removal of the Reserve Designation on the Curling Rink Lot. Now, upon the completion of the registration of the subdivision, the Town can transfer the land to the Fox Creek Curling club for $1.00. Feb 2020 STARS brought to Council their annual Town of Fox Creek Update. In the update they discussed the 2019 3 inter-facility transfers and 2 scene/search & rescue for Fox Creek, both of which are down from the past few years. The representatives from STARS also discussed the H145 Fleet Renewal Campaign, which brought them 3 new helicopters in 2019, and will bring 6 more by 2022. These new helicopters provide personnel more movability and space to be able to assist individuals. Mar 2020 Council has directed Administration to organize an open house for the various community groups to discuss with Council their on-going projects. The purpose is to ensure Council remains in touch with what is going on in the community and to learn what more about the groups Fox Creek has to offer. This open house will also be good for the groups to learn more about the Grants to Groups program and how they can take advantage of it, if they are not currently. Look forward to event details to be released once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and it is safe for people to gather.
