Welcome to TEXARKANA In
this issue of the Texarkana City Guide, there is plenty to learn about, including places to explore, things to learn, and experiences of the best of Texarkana in two great states: Texas and Arkansas.
Texarkana, founded in 1873, prides itself on the uniqueness of being one great city saddled between two states. Beyond its iconic state line, Texarkana has a rich culture of music, art, and history, much of which you will find in the heart of our city: the downtown.
In downtown, you will find the beautiful Perot Theatre, which hosts nationally recognized performers and is home to the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and the Texarkana Community Ballet. The Arkansas Municipal Auditorium has a rich history of performers such as Elvis and Johnny Cash. There are three unique museums within the Texarkana Museums System, as well as a popular Antique (Four States) Auto Museum and the Texarkana Regional Arts Center. Fabulous art galleries, specialized retail spaces, delicious local restaurants, and an array of public art and murals are also among the attractions.
Texarkana has seen tremendous growth in recent years in keeping with the national trend of revitalizing downtowns. Every city has its own tales to tell, and Texarkana has no shortage of colorful stories with a vibrant history. The community has moved forward by investing in its downtown focusing on great opportunities including creating a new entertainment district. Numerous new living spaces are coming about, and ample outdoor fun is available for exploring and enjoying weekly events for the entire family.
