It is a pleasure doing business in Fountain Inn! Recent years have brought about an explosion of growth and opportunity for our fair city. Through good times and bad, times of certainty and very often, times that were quite questionable, the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce has been here to support, promote, and add value to our local business community.
In keeping with our primary objective, The Chamber has held up the banner of advocacy for our member businesses. We have made every effort to ensure that every business—from the small “mom and pop” enterprise to the massive industrial facility—receives the benefits that come along with being a part of an inclusive community like Fountain Inn.
We celebrate all of the concepts and fresh ideas that have newly become part of our economic landscape while we continue to honor our cherished local standards. We are proud of the advances we have made in the retail, hospitality, and industrial spaces, and we look forward with great anticipation to the exciting additions the future holds. Fountain Inn is and will continue to be the place to be!
We remain actively engaged in the community. The Chamber is responsible for some of Fountain Inn’s favorite events. Our Annual Banquet
is our opportunity to celebrate our members and all of the wonderful things we have achieved through our partnership with the city. The Aunt Het Festival brings the entire city out to Main Street, and it continues to be bigger and better than ever. Our annual Sporting Clay Tournament has become a “can’t miss” on our calendar. (See what I did there?) The Christmas Parade is the unofficial opener to the Christmas season. We keep connections fresh with our monthly Business Before Hours and Business After Hours events. In 2024, we launched what we hope will be a new annual tradition in our Golf Cart Parade.
We believe that there is no better place to do business than Fountain Inn. We also believe that there has never been a better time to be in business in Fountain Inn than now. We are excited to be in the unique position to see our members thrive and grow while we maintain the quaint and inviting nature of our town.
I, along with our Board of Directors, our President, and our staff thank you for being here. If you’re not already, consider becoming a member of the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce. You’ll be glad you did. Until then, we can’t wait to see you out and about in Fountain Inn.
Larry Kerns, Jr. Chair, Board of Directors
Welcome to Fountain Inn!
I hope that whether you’re a longtime resident, a business owner, a visitor, or a newcomer, that you’ve found your place right here in Fountain Inn!
In the middle of the fastest growing region, in the fastest growing state, in the nation sits our little hometown, full of charm, pride, and opportunity.
From our walkable, quaint, and vibrant downtown, to one of our many parks, to our beautiful neighborhoods - Fountain Inn is full of everything you’re looking for.
Our secret is no secret - you can see it every day walking down Main Street, pulling into the neighborhood, opening up the shop, playing on the ball field, dancing at summer concert, or just sitting on the porch – our secret is our people.
It’s our people that create the small town charm we are best known for. Our entire community works to create and preserve what has made us, in my opinion, the best city in America.
If you want to really see what our community is about, I encourage you to get engaged. There are so many ways to experience, and grow, the small town charm we all love here.
Commerce Park, situated right in the heart of downtown, features an outdoor amphitheater and covered farmer’s market, and our Chamber of Commerce and Fountain Inn History Museum. It is home to our summer concerts, seasonal farmers market, our infamous Christmas festival, and many of our other events throughout the year.
Up and down Main Street you’ll find shops, restaurants, and much more. You can eat and shop the day away in Fountain Inn easily! We’ve cut ribbons on dozens of new businesses these last five years or sothere is so much to do, buy, and eat! Small business owners continue to choose Fountain Inn for a reason!
GP McLeer Mayor, City of Fountain Inn
Outside of downtown, residents and visitors can enjoy numerous parks. Our always-active Emanuel Sullivan Sports Complex features baseball fields, football fields, and a large shaded playground. We also just finished reconstructing a paved trail behind the park, winding through the woods and connecting to Fairview Street Park. Our PD Terry Park is another active recreation site just off of Main Street, and our two neighborhood parks, Georgia Street and Sanctified Hill, are great to take the kids to any day of the week.
In 2025, you’ll notice numerous upgrades for our residents. Fire Station 3 will begin construction this year, located next to Rudolph Gordon School - reducing response time in the northern portion of our community by upwards of 2-3 minutes. We are also beginning Phase 2 of our Main Street Revitalization Project. A nearly $5 million project, Main Street from Jones to Highway 418 will get a facelift to match the northern end of Main Street which was completed in 2013. You’ll also see the Swamp Rabbit Trail finally connect Simpsonville and Fountain Inn, hopefully by the end of 2025 (pending construction timelines). We’ll also be adding around 60 parking spots just off Main Street (corner of Jones and Wall Street), bringing us to a total of nearly 120 new parking spots added in our downtown between 2024 and 2025. Plus, we’ll be in the planning process for a new City Hall complex (don’t worry, it won’t be moving) to help make it easier to connect with all of our departments, provide adequate space and equipment for our teams (especially Police and Fire), and prepare for the future.
Fountain Inn is home to so much, but most importantly, it’s home to wonderful people who care for each other. We are a resilient community that is beaming with pride for our hometown, and we stand together as we move into the future.
It is an honor to serve as Mayor of this community, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

The goal of The Fountain Inn Museum is to provide all visitors with a clear view of our town’s history, from its humble beginnings to the increasing growth that led to the prospects now within sight. A secure footing in our history will enable tomorrow’s leaders to take on the unique challenges of the 21st century. The Museum opened its doors in 2010 as part of the Fountain Inn’s Commerce Park project. The goal of this project was not just to document our town’s history as a stagecoach stop between Charleston and North Carolina, but also to show how we have advanced from a rural farming population to a town with high tech and manufacturing industries.
An appreciation of Fountain Inn’s history begins with exhibits reflecting the time when Native Americans inhabited the Upstate. Then, as European settlers began to arrive, roads and buildings soon followed, establishing communities that grew into small towns. The Museum’s exhibits and displays, many of which have been improved upon by our 2023 ARPA Grant, takes visitors on a chronological tour of our city’s growth, clearly illustrating the special heritage Fountain Inn holds. As well as its permanent exhibits, the Museum hosts seasonal displays in both its main hall and the SC Humanities Gallery that was added in 2019.
The Museum offers innovative programs and tours such as our Hooked-On History program that is perfect for student groups from elementary school through high school. This program features entertainers and guest
speakers from all over the state who provide a comprehensive insight into both Fountain Inn and South Carolina’s history. The series highlights some of our town’s most notable residents such as Robert Quillen, the internationally recognized author and publisher of the Fountain Inn Tribune, and “Peg Leg” Bates, an incredible one-legged dancer who performed for millions worldwide.
Recent developments at the Fountain Inn Museum include A new Early Education display. It showcases over a century of education in Fountain Inn, highlighting the evolution and significant role schools played in shaping the community. Beginning with one-room schoolhouses like the Ebenezer School in the 1850s, the display explores the development of African American education in the late 1920s with the Rosenwald School and concludes with the transition of Fountain Inn High School, which closed its doors in the 1950s, leaving only the elementary school behind.
Another exciting addition is one of the original millstones from Jones Mill, generously donated by Carroll “Doug” Massey. This cherished artifact, lovingly preserved by the Mayfield-Massey family for 109 years, traces its origins back to 1915 when David Grogan Mayfield, the mill’s superintendent, was entrusted with it. Originally manufactured in France and brought to the U.S. in the 1860s, the millstone has a remarkable legacy. From grinding corn and wheat to serving as a family heirloom, it symbolizes decades of cherished
memories. The Museum is honored to receive this piece of history in memory of Frances Mayfield Massey (1919–2004), her parents David Grogan Mayfield (1896–1955) and Ruth Belle Mayfield (1891–1955), and their enduring stewardship of Jones Mill.
Initiated in 2019, the Museum’s Jones Mill Project aims to restore this historical structure to its former glory, providing a platform for all to appreciate its deep history. In a significant expansion in 2022, approximately 20 acres were generously donated to the project, nearly tripling its size. Furthermore, a substantial boost came in the form of a $1.6 million grant from the State in the same year, facilitating the ongoing progress of the project. This financial support has not only driven the restoration efforts but has also paved the way for the development of trails, outdoor classroom areas, and additional amenities, transforming the restoration project into a comprehensive park. This expanded space invites visitors to spend a day immersed in and appreciating a significant piece of Fountain Inn’s history, contributing to the cultural richness of the community.
Make the Museum part of your visit to Fountain Inn and experience how our history comes alive through our exhibits, programs, and guest speakers throughout the year. Located in the heart of our flourishing town, the Fountain Inn Museum is an excellent place to take in the history, learn about the people, and experience the exceptional atmosphere our town has to offer!

As we look ahead to the 2024-25 season, “Growth and Expansion” perfectly encapsulates the journey of FRC Team 4451: ROBOTZ Garage. Founded in 2013 through a partnership between the BOSCH/Rexroth plant on Southchase Blvd and Laurens District 55 High School in Laurens, our team has continually evolved. In 2022, we proudly welcomed students from the newly established Fountain Inn High School into our ranks.
Today, our team proudly represents students from two schools, two counties, two communities, and two school districts, uniting as one vibrant robot family. Our growth trajectory remains strong, leading us to establish a junior varsity team, “FRC Team 4864: Innovation Station,” set to debut in the 2025 FIRST Robotics Season, Reefscape.
This season, our team will compete in events held in Hartsville, North Charleston, and Anderson starting in March, as our students strive to qualify for the prestigious FIRST World Championships in April in Houston, TX. Since 2015, our robots have successfully qualified for every world championship, and we are eager to extend that streak into 2025.
ROBOTZ Garage serves as a vital pipeline for nurturing high-quality STEM talent. Notably, 100% of our 53 alumni have pursued either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree or entered an apprenticeship post-graduation, with each choosing a STEM field for their studies.
While we take immense pride in our achievements, our students remain committed to giving back to our communities. In 2024, our annual Hot Rod STEM Summer Camp expanded to include a week at Fountain Inn High School, complementing the week we host at Laurens District 55 High School. By representing FIHS, LDHS, and ROBOTZ Garage at local community events, we actively encourage new members to join our workforce development-focused family.
At FRC Team 4451: ROBOTZ Garage, our philosophy is clear: we don’t just use kids to build a robot; we use robots to build kids!
Robby Bell Athletic Director, Fountain Inn High School
Fountain Inn High School has marked an extraordinary milestone in its fourth year of existence, celebrating the achievements of its first graduating class. The 20232024 athletic season was a banner year for the school, competing it’s second year in Region II-3A. The school’s athletes rose to the occasion, earning Fountain Inn its highest-ever finish—18th place—in the SCAAA Carlisle Cup standings. The Fury continued to rise as it moved up to 4A this year and joined Region I-4A alongside Emerald High School, Laurens High School, Southside High School, Westside High School, and Wren High School.
The 2023-2024 winter sports season was particularly historic for Fountain Inn. The girls’ basketball team notched the school’s first-ever playoff victory with a win over Woodruff High School. Meanwhile, the boys’ basketball team advanced to the third round of the playoffs after securing victories in the first and second rounds, achieving another significant milestone in the school’s brief history. Additionally, the wrestling team celebrated the success of two standout athletes, Caden Carnes and Xeviel Gonzalez, who earned All-State honors. The Fury had 7 athletes named to the ALL REGION Team and Two ALL STATE Athletes for the Winter Season.
The 2023-2024 spring season brought even more accolades. The baseball team captured the District Championship and advanced to the Upper State bracket, solidifying their place as a formidable contender. Track & Field standout Alex Smith added to his impressive resume, claiming his second State Championship in the 400m event. Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams qualified for the State Playoffs, showcasing the growing strength of Fountain Inn’s athletic program. The school also announced the addition of a varsity girls’ lacrosse team and a JV boys’ lacrosse team for the upcoming year, further expanding athletic opportunities for students. The Spring season had a lot of success for Fury Athletes, with 23 being named to ALL REGION Teams, one coach being named Region Coach of the Year, and one ALL STATE athlete.
The momentum has carried into the 2024-2025 school year. For the fourth consecutive year, both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams qualified for the state meet. Senior Ethan Thomas capped off his high school career with All-State honors. The football team recorded its best-ever finish with a 6-4 record and a hard-fought game in the first round of the playoffs.
The girls’ golf team continued its strong performance, winning the Region Championship and placing 8th in the state for the second year in a row. In the pool, the boys’ and girls’ swim teams both claimed Region Championships, highlighted by All-State performances from Brycen Andrews in the 100 Butterfly and 500 Free. The boys’ 200 Free Relay team, composed of Brycen Andrews, Jackson McConkey, Miles Tabor, and Knox McConkey, earned a bronze medal and All-State recognition.
Girls’ tennis and volleyball also continued their streaks of excellence, qualifying for the State Playoffs for the second consecutive year. The Fall season has been a record setting one for the Fury with 51 Athletes named to the ALL REGION Team, 6 ALL STATE Athletes, 5 REGION Players of the Year, and 3 Coaches named ALL REGION Coach of the Year.
Fountain Inn High School’s athletic program has achieved remarkable growth and success in just four years. With a strong foundation and a commitment to excellence, the school’s athletes are poised to continue breaking records and setting new milestones in the years to come. Go Fury!

After much research the Fountain Inn Fire Department can trace it roots back to 1911. Fast forward to 2025 and we have grown tremendously. Plans are underway for a new Fire Station (Fire Station 3), a new training facility and, currently, our department consist of 29 full-time members, four part-time members, we achieved the goal we set for fire safety, and are working to achieve that each year.
Our mission is to provide the highest level of public safety services to our community. We protect lives and property through fire suppression, emergency medical response, disaster management, fire prevention and public safety.
Our members not only protect our fire district but they also participate in teams that provide assistance in the county and state such as Greenville County Emergency Response Team and South Carolina Taskforce 1. By doing this we are able to receive additional specialty training to better protect you.
Our next big project is to become a Fire Safe SC Community. This is a designation given out by Fire Safe SC. Part of this project requires our department to accomplish 14 goals. There are many ways you can help with this. Follow Fountain Inn Fire Department on social media and the biggest way is to become a partner with our department to help promote fire safety information. This can be done in many ways.

“The first Chamber of Commerce was established in Marseille, France in 1599. It was spearheaded by a group of thirty leading merchants and aimed to represent trade interests and address common challenges. The concept of Chambers of Commerce then spread to the United States, with the first state-wide chamber formed in 1768 in New York and the first local chamber established in 1773 in Charleston, South Carolina. The United States Chamber (US Chamber) was officially founded in 1912 in Washington DC.”
So says the internet, but those of us in Chamber World know that Chambers are so much more than just a collection of businesses. Chambers get things done!
My friend & mentor, Carlos Phillips at the Greenville Chamber often says, “If you’ve seen one chamber, you’ve seen one chamber.”, because at the core, each chamber takes on the flavor and tempo of the community where they are based.
A Chamber of Commerce is the heartbeat of a business community. At the Fountain Inn Chamber, we are more than just a network of businesses—we are a catalyst for growth, a
voice for advocacy, and a champion for economic development. Our role is to connect, support, and elevate businesses of all sizes, ensuring they have the resources, relationships, and representation needed to thrive.
We provide opportunities for networking, workforce development, and business education while working closely with local government and community partners to foster a thriving business environment. Whether you’re a small business owner, a corporate leader, or an entrepreneur with a dream, the Chamber is here to help you succeed. When businesses grow, our community prospers— and that’s what the Fountain Inn Chamber is all about.
The roots of the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce trace back to 1918, when a group of local business and community leaders formed a booster club to promote economic and civic growth. In the early 20th century, Fountain Inn was a small but industrious town, benefiting from the railroad and textile industry. The booster club worked to support local businesses, attract new enterprises, and enhance the town’s
reputation as a welcoming and prosperous place. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, the booster club played a key role in improving infrastructure, advocating for better roads, and supporting initiatives that strengthened Fountain Inn’s position as a business-friendly community.
The Formation of the Chamber (1954)
In 1954, recognizing the need for a more formal and structured business advocacy group, the booster club evolved into the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce. This transition allowed for greater coordination of economic development efforts, membership growth, and stronger partnerships with local government, schools, and civic organizations.
The Chamber’s early initiatives included:
• Advocating for improved transportation and infrastructure, ensuring businesses had the resources needed to grow.
• Supporting downtown revitalization efforts, encouraging local businesses to invest in the town center.
• Assisting in industrial recruitment, bringing manufacturing jobs to the area to bolster the local economy.
Chamber-Led Projects & Initiatives
Over the decades, the Fountain Inn Chamber has been instrumental in several major initiatives that have shaped the city’s development:
• Economic Development & Business Growth – The Chamber has actively worked to attract businesses and support entrepreneurs, ensuring Fountain Inn remains competitive in the Upstate’s growing economy.
• Downtown Revitalization – The Chamber played a key role in promoting investments in the historic downtown, including streetscape improvements, local business support, and increased tourism.
• Cultural & Community Events –The Chamber helped establish key community events, such as the Fountain Inn Christmas Festival, which has become a beloved tradition drawing visitors from across the region.
• Education & Workforce Development – Partnering with local schools, technical colleges, and workforce programs, the Chamber has supported training and employment initiatives to prepare the next generation for career success.
Present Day & Looking Ahead
Today, the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce continues to be a driving force behind the city’s economic and community development. It supports a wide range of programs, including:
