Friends,
Welcome to the 2024 edition of the Ascend magazine! Foundation Christian Academy has had an incredible year! Along with record attendance and construction, we have had an outstanding year of academic success and spiritual growth. In this issue, we share a glimpse into the life of a preschool student, an elementary student, and an upper school student to demonstrate the amazing things that happen daily on our campus. As you turn each page of this magazine, I know that you will see the many ways that God is blessing our students, our staff, and our supporters. Thank you so much for helping FCA provide our students with a .
DAVID PAHMAN, ED.D. PRESIDENT

Recently, Neal Mathis, one of our Bible teachers, spoke in chapel about Joshua 4 and memorials. He chose one young man from each grade, first through twelfth, and lined them up with a rock in their hand. He mentioned that there wasn't anything particularly special about the rocks in their hands, but what was special was the grades that each young man represented and the God who makes all things possible.
Chapel and Bible classes are two things that make FCA so different from other schools in Bowling Green. It is so encouraging to see both our youngest and oldest students smiling, sitting, and praying together. It is also where teachers and students can pray together and lean on each other to get through life. Every lesson in and out of class helps to mold and shape our young people into who God wants them to be.
These lessons build a both on this earth and throughout eternity.
The theme for FCA in 2024 is “The Time is Now”, taken from 2nd Corinthians 6:2. The temptation in our lives is to put off needed improvements until tomorrow or later. My grandfather used to joke, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you should do today, save it for next week.” Unfortunately, the devil is successful in tempting us to procrastinate.
1) solid, BiBlical growTh. Every day, we need to grow spiritually, learn God’s word, and seek to carry out His mission in our part of the universe.
2) academic growTh. Whether we are students, parents, or teachers, we must continue to learn academically and grow professionally.
3) aN excepTioNal, compreheNsive educaTioN. At FCA, we strive to develop a well-rounded student. In addition to spiritual and academic growth, we want them to grow athletically, musically, and fully develop all the talents God has given them.
4) a safe, NurTuriNg eNviroNmeNT. In a crazy world, FCA desires to be a traditional, safe space that students, parents, and teachers can depend on consistently. The time is now to act!

AS WE REFLECT on the incredible accomplishments of the FCA High School in 2024, it's clear that this year has been one of growth, achievement, and unforgettable memories. From the magic of the Wizard of Oz musical to the excitement of a trip to San Antonio, FCA students have demonstrated resilience, talent, and faith both inside and outside the classroom.
The Class of 2024 graduated in mid-May with 12 graduates. All graduates were accepted to a university and many received several scholarship offers. In 2024, FCA High School expanded its dual-credit program, allowing students to earn both high school and college credit while completing coursework. This initiative is part of the school’s commitment to providing students with rigorous academic opportunities and preparing them for success in higher education.
One of the key focuses in the high school is preparing students for their next steps after graduation, and this year, many students took the ACT with outstanding results. FCA students continue to score higher on the ACT than the national, state, and local averages.
In the high school, spiritual growth is at the heart of the educational experience. As much as the school emphasizes academic excellence, it equally prioritizes the development of faith and character. This year, one of the most impactful spiritual initiatives was the introduction of student-led chapel services once a month, where students took the reins to plan, lead, and inspire their peers through songs, messages, and prayer. These services have not only deepened the spiritual lives of the student body but have empowered young leaders to take ownership of their faith in ways that will resonate far beyond high school.
We are excited about this past year and looking forward to a great 2025 at FCA!

The 2024 school year at FCA Middle School has been a whirlwind of growth, achievement, and memorable moments. From exciting events like Homecoming and Field Day to remarkable accomplishments in academics and spiritual development, students have embraced opportunities to excel and build community. Here’s a look back at some highlights from the year!
One of the standout achievements of the year came when the FCA Jr. BETA students traveled to the State BETA Convention in January, where they showcased their talents and hard work, competing against students from across the state. FCA placed 3rd in Spelling, 5th in Group Performance, and 2nd in Apparel Design. The BETA Club went to Nationals in June and earned an impressive 7th place in Small Group Performance, an achievement that highlights the dedication and teamwork of these young scholars.
FCA Homecoming celebrations are a heartwarming display of school spirit, with students, staff, and families coming together to celebrate their collective pride in the school and our athletic teams. The weeks include dress up days, the spirited pep rally in the winter and the parade in the fall.
Middle School students look forward to a trip to the Louisville Zoo in 6th grade, Huntsville Space and Rocket Museum in 7th grade, and the big 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C.
At FCA, academic achievement is only part of the picture. The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing students’ spiritual lives and character development. Chapel services, small groups, and daily Bible study are an integral part of daily life for FCA students. Our close, nurturing environment helps our middle schoolers successfully navigate the early teen years and prepare them for success in high school.

“Every Day Is A Beautiful Day At FCA” for many reasons, but it becomes much easier when every school day begins by singing His praises, reading His Word, and praying. Each student is encouraged to see the world through the lens of faith. The faculty and staff at FCA are deeply committed to nurturing each child’s spiritual journey, guiding them with patience, love, and a strong sense of faith. Opportunities to help others through service projects are also provided. FCA was highlighted on WBKO for their exceptional community service.
The opportunities for growth at FCA extend far beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, students were busy participating in a wide range of programs and projects including a Wax Museum, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, holiday programs, and some even traveled on a “Jukebox Time Machine.”
A wide range of field trips were also taken. Many kindergarten students experienced riding a train for the first time together, with Santa! Third graders became Marine Biologists for a day in Nashville. They even dissected squid! After a successful State Beta Convention, many fourth and fifth graders traveled to Savannah, Georgia to compete at Nationals
A Huge shout out to Eden Baptiste for being chosen to open ceremonies with her amazing singing and to Lincoln Poe for placing 10th in the History competition. Students at FCA shine! We are extremely proud of all of our Falcons!

If you have been by the FCA campus, you have seen construction from the front of the campus to the back. What will the campus look like at the end of construction when school starts back in August 2025?
The rest of the elementary building will be renovated with new paint and flooring. This past summer, the sojourners helped to renovate the 2nd & 3rd grade classrooms (pictured right). This look will be carried throughout the building.
The walls that created the four classrooms beside the cafeteria will come down, new flooring will be laid, and it will be expanded to provide additional seating for just the K-12 students.
The area that currently houses grades 4 & 5 will become the new middle school area. The classrooms that currently serve grades 2 & 3 will house the new library, art room, foreign language, and vocal music.
The two portable classrooms will become one large band room.
Three lanes will be provided in the entryway. The left lane will be for preschool, the middle lane for elementary and those going to the new middle school area, and the right lane will be for the high school. Additionally, the parking lot will increase by more than 50% to add over 100 parking spaces.
The new building will house the 8 preschool classrooms and will provide a new playground and an MPR that will serve as an area for chapel, cafeteria, indoor play, and care before and after hours. In addition, the new administrative wing will house admissions, financial offices, fundraising, the president’s office, and the conference room.
Each year, FCA asks its students to help with one fundraiser, the Harvest Run. The students get so excited to get out of class and run through four obstacle courses over and over until they are exhausted. Thanks to sponsors this year, the students were able to enjoy snow cones after they finished. Once again, thanks to everyone’s help, FCA was able to exceed its goal and raised $68,238.
In April, FCA held its annual Golf Classic at the Crosswinds Golf Course. The large number of golfers filled the course and helped us raise $52,500 for the school. FCA would like to thank all of our sponsors, especially the Title Sponsor, Hill-Motley Lumber Company. Make your plans for next year’s Golf Classic on May 3, 2025!

AS CHRISTIANS MATURE, THEY LEARN AND EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF GIVING
This is one of the reasons why one gives generously to the cause of Christ.
There is the JOY OF BEING A GOOD STEWARD. In his prayer, David acknowledged that all our material possessions belong to God (I Chron. 29:14). The knowledge that we are pleasing God as good stewards of the temporary blessings that He gave us brings us joy.
There is the JOY OF DOING WHAT GOD LOVES TO WITNESS
He has informed us that He “loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Cor. 9:7). Our omniscient God sees all the evil in the world, which grieves Him (Proverbs 15:3, Genesis 6:5,6). What a joy to know that we can bring happiness to Him by our cheerful giving to His cause.
There is the JOY OF LAYING UP TREASURE IN HEAVEN (Matthew. 6:19-21, 19:21). The only money that we always have is what we give to those who cannot help themselves and to other good things to further God’s kingdom.
Jesus taught that GIVING MAKES ONE HAPPY (Acts 20:35). When we have helped someone to have the best opportunity to be happy in this life and throughout eternity, it gives us the joy that comes from truly helping others.
One of the many benefits God has given us is the happiness and joy we experience in the JOY OF GIVING (Ps. 103:2). It also has eternal benefits!

is it possible to build a legacy that lasts forever?
There is a neat passage in Isaiah 59:21 where God described a covenant with His people. He said, “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from this time forth and forevermore.” This passage teaches us that a legacy that lasts forever involves putting God’s word in our generation and future generations.
The answer is yes, and God tells us how in his word.
FCA hAs been blessed by many who have established a legacy of ensuring that God’s word will be taught to the next generation. Recently, the Church of Christ at Delafield sold their building and gave half of the proceeds to FCA to establish an endowment in their name that will aid needy students in the future to receive financial aid. The neat thing is, that even though their doors are now closed, the legacy of that church will live on at FCA perpetually.
If you would like to establish an endowed scholarship, or set up a portion of your estate to benefit needy students or some other function of FCA, consider contacting us. Would you like to know how you can reduce your tax exposure, give to a charity like FCA while still taking care of your family through estate planning? Reach out to Dr. David Pahman, and help us build a lasting legacy at FCA.
