2022-2023 PRESCHOOL - 6TH GRADE SCHOOL PROFILE
SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY
Foundation Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private Christian school, was founded in 1958 as a ministry of Winter Garden’s First Baptist Church. All grades were housed at the Plant Street Campus until 2007 when the upper school grades moved to a new 70-acre property in south Winter Garden. In 2019, the Lakeside Campus was established and currently serves Kindergarten through 4th grade with 5th and 6th grades to be added for the 2023-2024 school year. Students from both Plant Street and Lakeside Campuses transition to the Tilden Campus for grades 7 through 12. Foundation Academy’s three campuses serve over 1,100 students; with 550 students enrolled at Tilden Campus. The school continues to grow and thrive as a part of the Orlando Metropolitan area, which is supported by tourism, aerospace, entertainment, hospitality, and technology industries.
FACILITIES
The educational complex on the Plant Street campus comprises nearly 20,000 SF of classroom and instructional space. The centerpiece of the property is a beautiful and historical church sanctuary. The complex also has a gymnasium, STEM classroom, a media/library center as well as a cafeteria. Additionally, there is a large playground for students to have recess, sports practice, and PE. Preschool students have a separate enclosed playground located near their classrooms.

Various technology tools are utilized to enhance instruction across the curriculum which include a one-to-one initiative with Chromebooks in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
HONORS PROGRAM
A ministry of
The Honors Program is available for qualifying 3rd-5th grade students. Standardized scores, reading levels, and teacher recommendations are used as qualifiers. Students spend one day per week in the Honors program which uses integrative technology and advanced critical thinking tools. An extra fee is required, and space is limited. There is also a Math and Language Arts honors track available for 6th grade students who show outstanding achievement in those subjects.
ACCELERATED READER AND STAR ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
The STAR assessment program is a specialized reading assessment used for K-6. Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading support program that begins in the 1st grade and is based on the STAR assessment. PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
The preschool program is for 3 and 4 year old children as a comprehensive training program that promotes academic, spiritual, physical, and social development. Enrichment classes give young students a variety of fun and interactive learning experiences. In order to accomplish all of this the preschool day begins at 8:15 am and ends at 3 pm.
6TH GRADE PROGRAM
As the first year of middle school, our 6th grade students follow a traditional 7-period day schedule with time between class periods to visit their lockers. During the wheel, students are engaged in Reading for Enjoyment, Art, STEM, Health/Life Skills or they can choose a year long class of band or choir. They continue the middle school journey at our Tilden campus for 7th and 8th grade.
CHAPEL
Grades K-2 and 3-6 meet weekly in the sanctuary of Winter Garden’s First Baptist church for their own chapel service. An exciting time of praise and worship is followed by an engaging message centered on thematic lessons from the Bible with practical life application. This year’s theme is “Pursue” supported by Hebrews 12:14.
ATHLETICS
The Lion Pride Developmental Sports program aims to teach and train young people in the fundamentals of their faith and sports in an environment conducive to learning. The focus is on fundamentals and development. Currently the program offers 4 sessions in which students will be able to play Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Flag Football. In addition to team sports, the students have the option of participating in Speed and Agility, Tennis, Golf, and Cross Country. 6th grade students can participate in middle school sports offered on the Foundation Academy Tilden campus.
