2022-2023 KINDERGARTEN - 6TH GRADE SCHOOL PROFILE
SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY
Foundation Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private Christian school, was founded in 1958 as a ministry of Winter Garden’s First Baptist Church. All grades were housed at the Plant Street Campus until 2007 when the upper school grades moved to a new 70-acre property in south Winter Garden. In 2019, the Lakeside Campus was established and currently serves Kindergarten through 4th grade with 5th and 6th grades to be added for the 2023-2024 school year. Students from both Plant Street and Lakeside Campuses transition to the Tilden Campus for grades 7 through 12. Foundation Academy’s three campuses serve over 1,100 students; with 550 students enrolled at Tilden Campus. The school continues to grow and thrive as a part of the Orlando Metropolitan area, which is supported by tourism, aerospace, entertainment, hospitality, and technology industries.
FACILITIES
The Foundation Academy Lakeside campus is located on over 40 acres. Currently, our facility consists of a large indoor auditorium, a school office, an enrichment classroom, and classrooms Kindergarten through 6th grade. Additional classrooms will be added as grade levels are added each year. Phase 1 of the expansion includes a 14,000 square-foot classroom building.
OUTDOOR STEM CLASSROOM
Our detailed STEM curriculum provides valuable life skills that are integrated with subjects such as math, science, social studies, and more. In addition to the garden space, our beautiful campus provides room for outdoor lessons, picnic lunches, recess, and exploration.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
CURRICULUM
A ministry of
A Biblical Worldview permeates the teaching and learning experience. The curriculum and learning resources are carefully chosen for each subject with the highest academic goals in mind. A variety of publishers, both Christian and secular, are used. Educational field trips are offered at each grade level that compliment curriculum content. Various technology tools are utilized to enhance instruction across the curriculum, Including a one-to one initiaitve with Chromebooks.
ACCELERATED READER AND STAR ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
The STAR assessment program is a specialized reading assessment used for K-6. Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading support program that begins in the 1st grade and is based on the STAR assessment. This unique computerized reading management system tracks advancement while motivating children to read literature outside the classroom curriculum.
HONORS
The Honors Program is available for qualifying 3rd-5th grade students. Standardized scores, reading levels, and teacher recommendations are used as qualifiers. Students spend one day per week in the Honors program which uses integrative technology and advanced critical thinking tools. An extra fee is required, and space is limited. There is also a Math and Language Arts honors track available for 6th grade students who show outstanding achievement in those subjects.
ENRICHMENT
Foundation Academy Lakeside is pleased to offer enrichment classes in Art, Computer/Media, Music, Physical Education, and STEM for Kindergarten through 6th grade.

6TH GRADE PROGRAM
As the first year of middle school, our 6th grade students follow a traditional 7-period day schedule with time between class periods. During the wheel, students are engaged in Reading for Enjoyment, Art, STEM, Health/Life Skills or they can choose a year long class of band or choir. They continue the middle school journey at our Tilden campus for 7th and 8th grade.
CHAPEL
All classes meet together weekly for chapel. An exciting time of praise and worship is followed by an engaging message centered on thematic lessons from the Bible with practical life application. This year’s theme is “Pursue” supported by Hebrews 12:14.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAMS
Additonal educational support programs for qualified students are available through our NILD program. These one on one educational therapy sessions are typically twice a week during the school day. NILD and Speech Therapy are available at an additonal cost, and as space is available.
ATHLETICS
Athletic opportunities are available after school through the Runners Club and Dance. 6th grade students can participate in middle school sports offered on the Foundation Academy Tilden Campus.
STANDARDIZED TESTING
Foundation Academy Lakeside Campus is pleased to announce that our National Percentile Rank (NPR) on our standardized testing is well above the National Average. Our National Percentile Rank for Kindergarten through 2nd grades, on our 2022 Iowa testing, is 83% in English Language Arts and 70% in Math with an overall composite ranking of 75%.
EXTRACURRICULAR
Foundation Academy offers a variety of engaging extracurricular activities after school. These currently include Chess Club, Drama, Environmental Club, Lego Club, Dance and Runners Club.

Go to FoundationAcademy.net/APPLY and click the link to our online application system You will set up an account, log in, create a new application (one per student) and then edit the application packet to complete each page of the requested information There is a place to upload images of requested documents The deadline to submit an application is May 4, 2023
PRELIMINARY REVIEW
The application will be subject to a preliminary review to examine the initial application documents and information against minimum criteria before proceeding to the next step If this criteria is not met, a decline letter will be sent and the application closed. If met, the admissions office will email with the next steps. In addition to the preliminary criteria, the entrance assessment, student and parent interviews, and space availability in the class will determine a final admission decision. Please note: An application is not a guarantee of admission
PARENT INTERVIEW*
Parents will be contacted to schedule a parent interview. This interview is an opportunity for philosophical compatibility discussions and expectations of a Foundation Academy education experience.

RECEIVE AN ADMISSION DECISION
Offers of admission are based on class availability and all the information gathered in the application process which illustrate potential success in our classroom and our curriculum. This decision is prayerfully discerned by our Admissions Committee. Availability is determined after returning families have paid deposits and confirmed reenrollment for the upcoming school year. Once classes are full, accepted students will be placed in a wait pool and notified if space becomes available.
Early Decision: Offers of admission begin on January 24, 2023 for those who meet the early decision criteria and complete the application process by December 8, 2022
Standard Admissions: Offers of admission begin on February 8, 2023 and continue through May 12, 2023 (as space allows).
ENROLLMENT
If an offer of enrollment is made, please follow the instructions in the acceptance email to complete enrollment This includes setting up a tuition payment plan in our FACTS tuition management system
